@matirocker It has EVERYTHING to do with the rough mix and recording. It would make any singer sound less than stellar. He didn't need to "improve" during the tour. Check out other recordings of this Detroit 1990 concert, it may surprise you. Also, your "Live at Donnington" reference is funny, but I won't tell you why...
@scotread OK, I didn't know about the mix, but there's a lot of recordings from the beggining of the tour (not just Detroit 90) that make him sound bad. Wow, what a lot of rought mixes! I know what you meant about Donington, because it has it's audio fixed, but that doesn't take that Brian was on fire at that point of the tour and if you look for the original concert videos, he was on fire too!
