I don't care if it stinks!!! This product really really works!! I'm soooo glad that you put in on youtube because when I was living in florida I tried it. It was growing my hair like crazy!!! I was able to buy it online because you showed the bottle during your video. I don't think they sell it here in georgia. Once again, it stinks, but it works.
On the back that bottle it says use as a deep treatment and washout completely. I used the same exact product and I love it! And the grease u talkin bout is sulfur 8 lol!
@tootsiepollard Girl. You just set me off by even mentioning that. I am traumatized by that product and the glover's mane. I remember wanting to isolate myself from my friends when my mom put that stuff on me. It worked only slightly but not enough to endure the embarrassment. Lol.
its like, Shea butter and coco butter have a nut sent.....but i love it ........i bought a home made bottle when i go home........ If its pure it will will have a very, very very strong nut sent....if you have smell soya bean its strong.
@sne19 I can deal with those scents all day long. I love shea butter and coco butter. my nickname is coco btw. ha. I can deal with some scents, but that jbco I cannot. plus, it felt like it was making my skin raw. it does soften roots. that's the only positive I can speak on. I will say if it is helping anyone out there by all means keep using it. I had to give you my honest take on it.
Try the tropic isle brand, the reviews on YouTube are mostly done on that brand not the one your reviewing. Sorry you had a bad experience but the brand usually reviewed has to be ordered off line not purchased in a store. But thanks for your review!
@starcherry241 Thank u. But I'll pass. I have come across a few reviews on that Tropic Isle brand that also say it smells badly, plus it made a few girls hair fall out. I'm good. I'll pass on the snake oil. The contents are same. The name is different.
@starcherry241 Sorry, I just noticed the message. Youtube acts funny with messages sometimes. I used B's Organic Jamaican Black Castor Oil. Before you ask, yes it's authentic. If it doesn't bother you maybe your nose is not sensitive. My nose and skin is very sensitive. But I just think it smells horrid like Glover's Mane.
@cortezforever I doubt it. Tropic Isle is not the only producer of this product. That would be like owning a monopoly. Google B's Organic Jamaican Black Castor Oil. It's real.
There is no such thing as what's better is whatever works for you. I am selling the JBCO sunny isle in my shop it's selling really well no complains so far sold 132 bottles.
relax...all i was suggesting was for you to try a different brand...i don't have to do any kind of study in order for me to share my opinion....just like 21angali said...try a different brand...Im not against anything u said i felt the same way about some products too...what works for me may not work for you so just try different oils and see what makes ure hair happy...thats all
i am trying it right now mixed in olive oil in a 1:3 ratio and it works well, my hair doesnt stink. im actually loving the product right now. but another great oil is the liquid parrafin oil. it is a thick oil as well but it works well for skin irritations and thinning scalp. i am a nurse and i have seen doctors order this. so if ur afaid of the JBCO then give the parrafin a chance. u can then showcase ur results
Hey, I am not trying to be funny but did the product smell in the bottle or once it got in your hair. I use this and it doesnt smell bad (a different brand). After a week i can smell something but by that time it is time for me to wash my hair. I am not doubting you AT ALL, I was just wondering.. A lot of you tubers use this, have you tried a different brand...you are probably like later for this crap.....LOL. thanks for the info
@21angali this product smelled after the moment I put it on my hair. I'm not using that stuff. No way jose. If it works for you, then I am happy. I just wanted to share a different opinion. That's all. We don't all have to feel the same way about a product do we? I appreciate your question though. My hair was clean when I put that stuff on it. I washed it out later because the smell got louder and louder. I smelled like I got my clothes from a burned clothing sale lol.
@AfrihairNation And you know this because you've done a laboratory study on it right. Look I'm tired of this twisted logic that's seems to be rampant on this video. There are more than one producer for any one product including JBCO. That's like saying that only Charmin makes real toilet paper and anyone else who makes it are the knockoffs. So Scotts and Quilted Northern are fakes. Say it with me, it's still the same product just a different brand. Let's get our logic right.
girl that JBCO does not smell good at all i was a fool to walk around with my hair smelling like that. that smell might have made my hair fell out lol.but will not be using that JBCO ever again.
oh boy is a figure of speech lol. but my hair shed so bad that it was sooooo thin you could see like my neck through my hair then it keep coming out and girl if i comb it GIRL look like every long strand was in my comb.girl it took me months to get my hair back. everyone can keep using it but NOT me. but every product is not made for everyone. this JBCO is not made for me.
@Kimsalley21 Who is the Oh Boy. Also, how long did you use it before you noticed the shedding. That one girl said she was going to keep using it even with the shedding. That's deep. I don't think I would do that.
I pay attention while on youtube girl i see the ups and downs on hair products and how it has different effects on different people like me and MeekaJael but ohhhdeee only use the JBCO in her conditioner only on wash days I was applying it to my scalp 2 or 3 times a week and wash my hair once a week. now to oil my scalp i use Elongate hair oil. and Keracare essential oil on my scalp.
@Kimsalley21 Ok. I see you're on your game. I'm with you. I just wanted to be sure because not until u told me have I heard this complaint. But I did watch MeekaJael's video and u were right. Boy, am I glad I tossed that stuff. What I don't understand is why are there so many stands out there for JBCO. Everybody won't have the same opinion. I'm always going to keep it 100 percent b/c i expect the same. Thanks for watching sis and passing on some great info.
Yes some people talk about there hair SHEDDING a lot I said look at MeekaJael JBCO and shedding video and ohhdeeee about JBCO and SHEDDING. and how you have to use a black tea rinse to stop the shedding. and no i relaxed every 14 to 16 weeks. but since i stop using the JBCO my hair has grown a lot and i still use my same hair products and my hair is down my back . but when I was using the JBCO my hair SHED really bad.
@Kimsalley21 That's great you were paying attention. I'll check those videos out. I'm sorry about what happened to you. But I'm glad you were able to nip it in the bud. You just reinforced why I do not like this stuff. I heard it can make your scalp itch, but I have no independent knowledge of that.
Was it glovers mane??????? horrrribbble stuff -my mother used it and it STUNK. Never did grow her hair. She would also use that pine/tar grease. yuck.
I didnt know you need to mix the JBCO with other oils . I had used the JBCO and my hair shed really bad had my hair so thin. But dont know if the castor oil did it but other youtubers talk about shedding MeekaJael and ohhdeeee . they did said put it in your conditioner only.
@Kimsalley21 I don't think you have to. Although, I'm definitely not a fan, I haven't heard anyone say their hair fell out using the product. Only the exact opposite. I would do a little more research before I would blame the JBCO. Did you do any chemical treatments like a relaxer or use a hair color?
@hairallmyown omg. i just watched a vid on that from 101ladyt. I felt like I was in a time warp, but your right, royal crown grease does still work. That is so deep. I might go buy me some. I love the smell. If I don't like it, I'll use it on my fiance's hair. He needs something and he can't use my expensive azz olive oil.
@revenuesharing Both of them smelled horrid. I think I could handle the Sulphur8. All I wanted my mom to use on my hair was Blue Magic and the one in the red can. Doggone. I forgot the name of it. Anywoo, I say we survey the men on how they feel about the scent of that stuff.
@YoBootyStinks Although two things were added for consistency, I think it's pure because they don't have like petroleum, dyes and all that jazz in it, and they didn't add any fake scent to mask the horrible scent. So that's pure. And yes that stuff smells like Glover's Mane dog poo grease to me. I eventually tossed it. I just took the $12 loss. I'm not subjecting my fiance to me smelling like Peppy LePew.
thanks for vid but uh who reely cares bout the smell if the product is effective? ok so mix it with a better smelling oil? Im buying it! my edges are thin and my roots are thin too this oil came highly recommended! thanks!
Yes casrtor oil in its natural state has has a strong scent, As a child my mother applied it staight never mixed with any other oil. Some or the oils now available is adulterated.A little almond and organic sage oil added will reduce the smell'
The oil softens h air, Obviously it should be massaged into the scalp . It may also be added to a pomade. The itchiness was likely because of the additives Castor oil unadulterated is not itchy.donot purchase from a hair supply(try mail or health store
I can deal with a bad smell. I would wear the oil at night only, and wear a shower cap. Does this work for silky white hair? I want to grow my hair to my shoulders as quickly as possible. I am sick of wigs.
@kristylee571 I think so, just use it sparingly and well diluted. I noticed a lot of the girls with your hair are using oils now. Just like a drop or two. They are putting it in the shampoos definitely, so you could do that and then rinse it out.
You look so much like my big sis! anyways my experience with the JBCO has been pretty good-thankfully I knew before hand that I had to mix it to dilute it and I dilute it with Vit E oil. I hear you on the skin thing-I have sensitive skin and was very diligent with preventing it from touching my face. Maybe you should try the Tropic Isle JBCO which doesnt smell so bad actually :D.
Normal and Jamaican castor oil both smell horrible to me. I already knew JBCO was gonna smell horrible because I grew up taking normal castor oil to break up congestion when sick as a child. I've been using JBCO for almost a year, and even though my hair is thick, I don't smell it pass an hour or two after I apply it. If I wash my hair with the JBCO shampoo, I smell that for a few days, but it's still not that bad to me, even though I'm very sensitive to certain scents.
Yep this form of JBCO is available at most local beauty supply stores. I just bought some yesterday 4o.z for 6.99. It maybe organic but it's not pure.Because of the two added ingredients. The smell doesn't bother me that much, lol I actually welcomed it after smelling other stuff. I just ordered the tropic Isle brand so I'm going to compare the smell and consistency.
@NaturalQueen11 Yes, it's worth a try with ordering the Tropic Isle brand. That's what I have of the JBCO Shea butter shampoo, 8 oz. bottle of JBCO, Tropic Isle Living STRONG ROOTS Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil, which I only purchased to help slow graying, prevent dandruff, and increase blood flow, as I have never had a problem growing my hair and keeping it healthy. HATE the smell and that one will still with you for a few days, but it's worth it.
I think the grease you referenced is POSSIBLY Glover's Medicated Dandruff grease. It has a sulfur-type smell. But from personal experience, it does--absolutely does--help hair to grow. Point...healthy is a choice. You decide how important ti is to you.
The reason commercial products use scent is to mask the chemical-type smells that would be noticeable without scent. Just try smelling some of the cheap, off-brand similar products of the popular ones and you will see what I mean.
@MsBeauty04 Now wait a minute. This is actually a brilliant idea. I love peppermint and it's so strong it would mask the scent completely. Peppermint is one of my favorite essential oils. Thanks for the advice.
@amarige25 I am glad u agree with me. I washed my daughter and my hair yesterday, i added the oil w/ the peppermint and while I was combing her hair all I could smell is peppermint.
@MsBeauty04 A word to the wise on this. Please use it sparingly. A little goes a long way. And PLEASE DON'T let it get in her or your eyes because it will burn like nobody's business. You will feel like you have been blinded. It's a burn that you won't forget, kind of like if you've ever sprayed lemon in your eyes, but 10x worse. But thank you again. You know I'm hear to learn and share experiences. God bless.
@sabrinatai31 Based on experience, I cannot say because I have never used it on my hair, but my face. I know it is a good base for relaxers. However, based on what I read it works basically the same way except a little goes a long way with the castor oil. I would start with only a drop or so and mix it with like olive oil or jojoba. Regular castor oil is very thick. You will be sorry if you pour a lot in your hand. I heard it does moisturize the scalp and help with growth for many people.
I definitely will be using another brand. There's nothing wrong with olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil & avocado oil, but that stuff is the pits. It's amazing how many people are so supportive of this smelly stuff. Don't take my word for it. Why don't you ask your friends, family, or significant other. Ask them if they notice a strange scent on you when u use it or in the home. I'm telling u the stuff has a reputation and it's not just my brand.
@amarige25 Have you tried Now Foods brand? I recently bought some and it was very mild. I don't think that the smell is strong at all. I have never tried Jamaican Black Brand - I ALMOST did, but decided to buy from them because I also bought vitamins from them as well.
I've been using sunny isle brand black castor oil for over a year and I have no complaints at all about the scent. It doesn't linger. I've also used plain castor oil for years. Again not much of a scent - so idk what people who say it stinks are on about. Maybe people are using something else that it reacts with?? There is no magical hair growing oil and the world is full of oil choices. Simply pick a different oil.
I would also like to add the scent might be okay to you because you have conditioned your mind to it. there are things I can take that are not so pleasant, but I have conditioned my mind to believe that the end justifies the means. my hair has grown quite long and thick without it. other people around you noticed enough to talk about it online in an unflattering way, plus, it started to make my skin burn and what about the itchiness. i'll stick to the refined version.
That's great that so many people are coming to the defense of this stuff. Quite frankly, it makes me wonder if there are some employees or distributors on here leaving comments. In any case, I stand by my opinion. I also did research and other people have mentioned the same horrible scent, so an ALL NATURAL oil would have a pungent scent unless it was mixed with something else.
I have The tropic Isle and Sunny Isle version and The smell is not that bad, Actually when I apply it to my scalp the smell is swallowed by the other moisturiser I apply to my hair shaft ! So ! I just wonder if it's not the brand you bought ! I believe JBCO actually smells ok, it has this earthy natural smell ! I love it ! It smells natural :)
@77deerose Since I didn't use the product long enough and my scalp never experienced itching, I will have to defer to some other women who might have some advice on that. If you are reading this and you are able to offer some advice about itching, please reply. Thank you.
HI, I'm a Jamaican and I love to see reviews on good stuff for hair such as CASTOR OIL.It's sad though to here that your Jamaican Black Castor has that bad smell. The castor oil in Ja has a roasted pea nutty smell to it( maybe) yours is mixed with other ingredients thats all.But hey it works , YEA !!!
In August 2011, I received delivery of the popular Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil from a distributor in the UK where I live. The oil has a golden honey colour with just a very slight smell of roasting - the grade that Jamaicans consider the best. Apparently, it is the darker oil which tends to have an overwhelming nauseating scent. It may be an idea to try a different supplier if your oil smells too strong. I hope this review has helped.
Yep, I totally agree, authentic Jamaican Black Castor Oil absolutely smells
is heavy, greasy and clogs pores, causing some to have bumps in their scalp - BUT it does grow and thicken hair. To address the "odor" issue, Fountain, the manufacturer's of Pimento Oil, developed Jamaican Black Castor Oil, infused with Peppermint! Cool & refreshing Peppermint AND Eucalyptus acts as a regulator and is the reason why your scalp will be so vibrant and wonderful smelling! Eyebrows and eyelashes too!
Everyone has their own opinion....I know this stuff really works...and if want a lighter one that doesnt smell like that one you have you should try the one with coconut oil already in it....If I were you I would buy the one that is in a glass jar...anywho...to each is own...but I know the Jamaican Black Castor oil with Coconut works! :)
@horsegirl2022 Yes it does smell like burning wood. Immediately when I put it on, I felt so self conscious about how I smelled. In my profession as a news reporter, I did go to house fires and building fires and I remember leaving smelling like that no matter how far I stood away from the house, etc. That smell is so hard to get rid of that you need a professional cleaning crew. Thank you for this helpful information. It's great to know there are alternatives. It's good to know.
@Asja05 if someone told me my hair would grow to the floor from rubbing cow dung in it every night, i still wouldn't use it. same applies here. the stuff is gross. i tossed it out. I'm doing fine without it.
I'm Dominican and my grandmother used castor oil as a cleanser, for skin, hair, nails, etc. I'm used to the smell and taste lol. But it does smells so I understand if other people might not like it.
@oldschooljamz87 I didn't have a problem with itching from this product. I know others have though. I guess I didn't use it long enough to see a difference. The smell stopped me dead in my tracks.
@Vishalocs that's it. I had long forgotten the name, and for good reason. that stuff smelled horrible just like this stuff. thanks for jogging my memory. you rock.
@KiarraLynnS1989 I appreciate the information. Others might find it helpful. But I'm not in the market for it. I loathe the stuff. I will never buy it again no matter who makes it. Again, I thank you because I know you are just trying to help. But really, never again.
Hello. The brand you are using could be the reason for your not so happy review. I am not affiliated with any company or store, but you need to use Tropical Isle JBCO. That is the only brand I use and it is "PURE" and the smell is not that strong. Most of the good reviews on YouTube speak of that brand. Give it a try! Most people on here purchase it from Sam's 24/7, I purchase mine from across the street from where I live in New York. Good Luck on your hair journey!
@IndigoRayes Thank you for the information. The product I am using is organic and pure and I have no reason to think the brand has any bearing on the scent. I've read other reviews and some mention the smell. However, on youtube, no one mentions it. I wonder why. I stand by my review. I have no interest in trying another product because the packaging would be different and not the product.
@organicloc Exactly. That's why I only use a drop or two in my conditioning treatment, specificially Elasta QP DPR-11, the new formula. I would try to dilute it first with olive oil and stir in a drop of lavender, orange or jasmine oil. Jasmine oil smells amazing.
Wow never even heard of this stuff again thanks for sharin. Ur nails are so pretty in this vid u shud never use acrylic w nails tht plus I don't have ta tell u how bad it wud be for ur natural nails jus talkin frm observation. But when u decide ur nails are long enuf can u demonstrate ur regimen?
@Fresh2death0099 I'll have to think about any nail vids because my nails are not up to par. They are long, we'll were long, because I just trimmed them a few minutes ago. But I never wear acrylic on my nails. The most I do is get a manicure and use either clear, pearl, or my fav. cotton candy nail polish. I hardly ever (really never) wear color on my nails. Not because it is bad, but I hate the sight of chipped nail polish. I hate fake nails. I would only consider gel nails, which is TOO HIGH.
@amarige25 I just read something disturbing. Apparently, "funny" scents have been associated with African-Americans. The scent IS bothersome to others, and apparently not everyone realized that the "funny" scent came from our hair products. This came up when I googled popular African-American hair greases.
Yeeesss girl!! I purchased the pure black castor oil and it has a horrible oder! I tried to use it and immediately had to shampoo my hair! I wasted my money because I did not continue using it. Thanks for this honest review.
Brill Video - Love the honest opinions, enabling people to make an informed decision, well done ! Do you do nail videos as noticed you have healthy nails with good length, what's the secret ? Thanks for posting and best wishes.
@brad12050 Thank you so much. I don't do anything special to my nails. They naturally grow long lengths. I will have some nail strengthening tips in the an upcoming video on olive oil, so I will give you a hollar when I put it up. Hopefully, this will help with the occasional broken nail.
I don't care if it stinks!!! This product really really works!! I'm soooo glad that you put in on youtube because when I was living in florida I tried it. It was growing my hair like crazy!!!

Kimsalley21 1 month ago
@Kimsalley21 I don't think you have to. Although, I'm definitely not a fan, I haven't heard anyone say their hair fell out using the product. Only the exact opposite. I would do a little more research before I would blame the JBCO. Did you do any chemical treatments like a relaxer or use a hair color?

@MightyMite76 It's called B's Products. U can find it online.

I love this product, I just mix mine with another oil from Carol's Daughter or BeautifulBrownBabyDoll Growth Serum oil.

@hairallmyown omg. i just watched a vid on that from 101ladyt. I felt like I was in a time warp, but your right, royal crown grease does still work. That is so deep. I might go buy me some. I love the smell. If I don't like it, I'll use it on my fiance's hair. He needs something and he can't use my expensive azz olive oil.
amarige25 2 months ago
@hairallmyown Thanks for that info. I'm going to that now. Old things become new.

@hairallmyown that's it. I loved that grease. That was the expensive brand right?

Glovers Mange lol. I remember not wanting my mom to put that grease in my hair. Or it might have been sulfer 8 lol
revenuesharing 2 months ago
@revenuesharing Both of them smelled horrid. I think I could handle the Sulphur8. All I wanted my mom to use on my hair was Blue Magic and the one in the red can. Doggone. I forgot the name of it. Anywoo, I say we survey the men on how they feel about the scent of that stuff.
amarige25 2 months ago
You could always mix it with raw shea butter and coconut oil..
eyelovemakeup24 2 months ago
1. is the one you have 100% pure? or some "spin off"?
2. lol@the grease our Mom's used back in the day. I think you're talking about Glover's Dog Mange, lol.
YoBootyStinks 2 months ago
@YoBootyStinks Although two things were added for consistency, I think it's pure because they don't have like petroleum, dyes and all that jazz in it, and they didn't add any fake scent to mask the horrible scent. So that's pure. And yes that stuff smells like Glover's Mane dog poo grease to me. I eventually tossed it. I just took the $12 loss. I'm not subjecting my fiance to me smelling like Peppy LePew.

I like the scent. Its organic and earthy. It thickens and softens my hair. I love it.

I can deal with a bad smell. I would wear the oil at night only, and wear a shower cap. Does this work for silky white hair? I want to grow my hair to my shoulders as quickly as possible. I am sick of wigs.
kristylee571 3 months ago

ALThickMadame 3 months ago
I mix mine with coconut oil (I have pure castor and coconut oil). I couldn't stand to walk around with my hair smelling like that.
ilubB5 4 months ago
Yep this form of JBCO is available at most local beauty supply stores. I just bought some yesterday 4o.z for 6.99. It maybe organic but it's not pure.Because of the two added ingredients. The smell doesn't bother me that much, lol I actually welcomed it after smelling other stuff. I just ordered the tropic Isle brand so I'm going to compare the smell and consistency.
NaturalQueen11 4 months ago
@NaturalQueen11 Yes, it's worth a try with ordering the Tropic Isle brand. That's what I have of the JBCO Shea butter shampoo, 8 oz. bottle of JBCO, Tropic Isle Living STRONG ROOTS Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil, which I only purchased to help slow graying, prevent dandruff, and increase blood flow, as I have never had a problem growing my hair and keeping it healthy. HATE the smell and that one will still with you for a few days, but it's worth it.
ALThickMadame 3 months ago
lol we all know it smells bad. you just deal with it it`s not that bad
icepincess 4 months ago
I think the grease you referenced is POSSIBLY Glover's Medicated Dandruff grease. It has a sulfur-type smell. But from personal experience, it does--absolutely does--help hair to grow. Point...healthy is a choice. You decide how important ti is to you.
The reason commercial products use scent is to mask the chemical-type smells that would be noticeable without scent. Just try smelling some of the cheap, off-brand similar products of the popular ones and you will see what I mean.
BeautiFullyManed 4 months ago
@BeautiFullyManed This is true. That's why the health food stores aren't crowded because the healthy foods don't always smell so hot.

Hey I bought the JBCO and I bought some peppermint fragrance and my hair smells just like the peppermint try that
MsBeauty04 4 months ago
@MsBeauty04 Now wait a minute. This is actually a brilliant idea. I love peppermint and it's so strong it would mask the scent completely. Peppermint is one of my favorite essential oils. Thanks for the advice.
amarige25 4 months ago
@amarige25 I am glad u agree with me. I washed my daughter and my hair yesterday, i added the oil w/ the peppermint and while I was combing her hair all I could smell is peppermint.
MsBeauty04 4 months ago
@MsBeauty04 A word to the wise on this. Please use it sparingly. A little goes a long way. And PLEASE DON'T let it get in her or your eyes because it will burn like nobody's business. You will feel like you have been blinded. It's a burn that you won't forget, kind of like if you've ever sprayed lemon in your eyes, but 10x worse. But thank you again. You know I'm hear to learn and share experiences. God bless.

does regular castor oil work the same a black castor oil.
sabrinatai31 4 months ago
@sabrinatai31 Based on experience, I cannot say because I have never used it on my hair, but my face. I know it is a good base for relaxers. However, based on what I read it works basically the same way except a little goes a long way with the castor oil. I would start with only a drop or so and mix it with like olive oil or jojoba. Regular castor oil is very thick. You will be sorry if you pour a lot in your hand. I heard it does moisturize the scalp and help with growth for many people.
amarige25 4 months ago
If they love you, they will tell you the truth.
amarige25 5 months ago
I definitely will be using another brand. There's nothing wrong with olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sesame oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil & avocado oil, but that stuff is the pits. It's amazing how many people are so supportive of this smelly stuff. Don't take my word for it. Why don't you ask your friends, family, or significant other. Ask them if they notice a strange scent on you when u use it or in the home. I'm telling u the stuff has a reputation and it's not just my brand.
amarige25 5 months ago
@amarige25 Have you tried Now Foods brand? I recently bought some and it was very mild. I don't think that the smell is strong at all. I have never tried Jamaican Black Brand - I ALMOST did, but decided to buy from them because I also bought vitamins from them as well.
ciciegurl 4 months ago
I've been using sunny isle brand black castor oil for over a year and I have no complaints at all about the scent. It doesn't linger. I've also used plain castor oil for years. Again not much of a scent - so idk what people who say it stinks are on about. Maybe people are using something else that it reacts with?? There is no magical hair growing oil and the world is full of oil choices. Simply pick a different oil.

The scent didn't disappear on me. It followed me all the way to work making me quite uncomfortable.
amarige25 5 months ago
I found that the smell fades just as fast as I put it in...I too like the earthiness in the oil too. Makes my fine hair very soft at the roots too!!!
chesumluv 5 months ago
Truthful opinions are not popular on youtube. What a shame.
amarige25 5 months ago
I would also like to add the scent might be okay to you because you have conditioned your mind to it. there are things I can take that are not so pleasant, but I have conditioned my mind to believe that the end justifies the means. my hair has grown quite long and thick without it. other people around you noticed enough to talk about it online in an unflattering way, plus, it started to make my skin burn and what about the itchiness. i'll stick to the refined version.
amarige25 5 months ago
That's great that so many people are coming to the defense of this stuff. Quite frankly, it makes me wonder if there are some employees or distributors on here leaving comments. In any case, I stand by my opinion. I also did research and other people have mentioned the same horrible scent, so an ALL NATURAL oil would have a pungent scent unless it was mixed with something else.
amarige25 5 months ago
I have The tropic Isle and Sunny Isle version and The smell is not that bad, Actually when I apply it to my scalp the smell is swallowed by the other moisturiser I apply to my hair shaft ! So ! I just wonder if it's not the brand you bought ! I believe JBCO actually smells ok, it has this earthy natural smell ! I love it ! It smells natural :)

I had that. don't know if that's a good brand. What do you do for the itching?
77deerose 5 months ago
@77deerose Since I didn't use the product long enough and my scalp never experienced itching, I will have to defer to some other women who might have some advice on that. If you are reading this and you are able to offer some advice about itching, please reply. Thank you.
amarige25 5 months ago
HI, I'm a Jamaican and I love to see reviews on good stuff for hair such as CASTOR OIL.It's sad though to here that your Jamaican Black Castor has that bad smell. The castor oil in Ja has a roasted pea nutty smell to it( maybe) yours is mixed with other ingredients thats all.But hey it works , YEA !!!
sugar5218 5 months ago
In August 2011, I received delivery of the popular Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil from a distributor in the UK where I live. The oil has a golden honey colour with just a very slight smell of roasting - the grade that Jamaicans consider the best. Apparently, it is the darker oil which tends to have an overwhelming nauseating scent. It may be an idea to try a different supplier if your oil smells too strong. I hope this review has helped.
AdannaG 6 months ago
@AdannaG Thank you AdannaG. I will have to look into that especially since your formula is not so repulsive.
amarige25 6 months ago

does it smell llike burning wood?
From my experince the smell is just proving that it's authentic.
Also I noticed the darkness of your oil which signals high ash content which leads to the strong smell.
search on google: Sunny Isle Jamacian black castor oil
go to their website
order their normal or light JBCO
less ash= less smell
this is for all people who complain about the smell of JBCO
horsegirl2022 7 months ago
@horsegirl2022 Yes it does smell like burning wood. Immediately when I put it on, I felt so self conscious about how I smelled. In my profession as a news reporter, I did go to house fires and building fires and I remember leaving smelling like that no matter how far I stood away from the house, etc. That smell is so hard to get rid of that you need a professional cleaning crew. Thank you for this helpful information. It's great to know there are alternatives. It's good to know.

amarige25 10 months ago
IndigoRayes 10 months ago
@IndigoRayes Thank you for the information. The product I am using is organic and pure and I have no reason to think the brand has any bearing on the scent. I've read other reviews and some mention the smell. However, on youtube, no one mentions it. I wonder why. I stand by my review. I have no interest in trying another product because the packaging would be different and not the product.
amarige25 10 months ago
It smells so so STRONG I tried adding other oils with a nice scent, but it still STINK. What else can I use?
organicloc 11 months ago

Fresh2death0099 11 months ago
