Thank you! It was one of my fondest memories growing up in Chicago. I was 6 or 7. I remember the indians whooping it up riding in on their ponies and steam engine trains chugging on stage spewing red, white and blue smoke. Until today, I did not know what this memory was about until I saw your video. Big hug! My memory now has place attached to this event. It was the Chicago Railroad Fair of 1948-9!

I remember my folks taking me both years, It was fantastic. There has never been anything like it since. The 1949 version was not as large as the previous year.
@844jim Riders in the Sky featuring Marty Stuart also has done a great version of it. Of course you can't beat the old Sons of the Pioneers, but the Riders are pretty darn good!
What an event! That was an amazing feat of organizing to pull off something like that. The logistics must have been hell. Thanks for sharing such a rare look at the antique steam all together in one place.
Absolutley riveting, Mr. B!!! A lot of railroad heritage show still out here in Chicagoland, but nothing can compare to what you show to us in this footage!!! Thanx again for another swell job!!!
Well, you're young, you have nothing better to do with the rest of your life (OK, your parents probably wouldn't agree with that) so let it be a challenge (;>)).

Always love your videos, this one is great. "One More Ride" is by the Sons of the Pioneers, right?

Thanks, glad you liked it (well, how could we not like it(:-)). Sons of the Pioneers with a little help from Roy Rogers of course.
