I first saw this movie when I was in my sophomore year of high school, and to me it was practically a documentary. Even though I'm long out of high school, I still love it. In fact, today (June 16th, 2011) is the tenth anniversary of its release, so I just watched it again tonight. Here's to ten years of a brilliant cult classic!
It's a shame this movie barely made a profit! I've watched it 10 times without tiring. It transports you to a fantastic fantasy world - a ghost of reality.
I <3 GHOST WORLD! More than anything. Everything about it; the feeling, the lines, the humor, the melancholy. The film. The cartoon book; Ive meet Daniel Clowes! I was too nervous to talk, but it was awesome and he drawed me Enid... Enid is ME. Everything they say about her is what Im told to be, and all the things she do like stalking, bitching, especially drawing I do too. Wow. Shes the only person I have ever related to, my biggest comfort when I feel alone :') <3
so please tell me...is the meaning at the end. is that she kills herself?? i cant figure it out. thats one conclusion ive heard. plus that bus doesnt run on that stop. just not sure
That art teacher irked me so much in the movie. "We can draw these cartoons that are more... light, and amusing, or we could do something more serious." HRRGH.
I thought this film would be another boring crap from Hollywood but Thora Birch made it look much better. She is amazing actress and unquestioning "master of weird roles". Steve Buscemi and Scarlett Johansson were great as well. Brad Renfro should have had much more screen time.
if you've ever heard R. Crumb talk you'll notice that Zwigoff actually sounds ALOT like him. it's actually sort of creepy. at least i think they sound alike.
I raised an Enid.

What the heck ever happened to Thora Birch? I know she put on a lotta weight but so what?
Thora needs to come back! And isn't that Teri Garr playing Thora's Dad's girlfriend in this movie?
jrmetmoi 3 years ago
she's done a handful of movies since this.
none that i've seen & they don't look like they were very popular either.
maybe Silver City but i didn't really watch it.
her most recent movie is "CaveGirl", the tagline is:
"Two hundred thousand years ago, teenage girls wanted the same as teenage girls do today, teenage boys!"
AAAAAAAAAAALLLLLRIGHT!
GIGGIDYGIGGIDYGOO!
can't wait...

most of this is just clips from the movie ... i love the movie but it's pretty pathetic that they couldn't think of more to say about it here.
