  • Bravo!!!

  • Quick playing, but Bravo nonetheless! If Mr. Gould whould've played it slower, the more ponderous nature of the modern piano (yes, I know Glenn Gould ripped out two strings of his piano to make it sound more like a harpsichord, and lighter in fingering) would have become apparent and it would have been a Fuge in Zzzzz Minor instead of F(the infernal key!) Minor!! F minor is supposed to be angsty folks!! Look at the Baroque meaning of different notes and that's what F Minor is all about.

  • Still fast, but also I think well articulated. But the Prelude was unforgivably fast.

  • There is no exact speed to Bach's preludes and fugues, and therefore you can play it slow or fast. However, usually fast players play it not quite as well they could've if it was slower. But Gould can play it fast, well expressed and accurately. Brill =)

  • awful ---------- Glenn Gould playing Glen Gould it's a fugue, not a horserace

  • one of the best fugues in both wtc

beautifuly played, as expected of Gould

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I'm in the process of learning this fugue (at about a THIRD of this tempo, haha) and to find a recording of Gould playing it is extremely helpful. Wish I could watch him playing it.

  • Beautifully played and interesting choice of tempo, I think it's around 120 crotchets per minute, which is about 50% faster than generally played

  • That was amazing. Best version I've ever heard.

  • A legendary pianist!

  • This is a beautiful fugue.

  • What clean sound and purity!
