looks kinda like a siedeway laptop would cost a lot probably because of how big the screen would be. You colud just by and itouch/phone and jailbreak it to get ebooks
I have and iphone, when bought it told the seller to put all the apps, as I'm so bad with computers, just get it for 2 things, they say is easy to use, and the big screen to read ebooks. I spent 2 days, learning how to put music in it and itunes. My library is no yet organiced. And never could put a book on the app. And i know only one quite uncorftable way to sinc the phone. Never could saw a video, youtube app, never works.
i think its genius. id love to buy an ebook now but i agree that they are awkwardly designed and expensive. id totally buy an apple ebook though. great idea.
I think this is a great idea. I would agree with all those who suggest making the connection between the ipod/iphone and the reader bluetooth rather than physical. To have books, videos and music all in the same device, with optional ways to read/view those would be excellent. Could a reader such as this also show videos?
I think this is more an opportunity for a third party iPod accessory maker. They seem to get things done more quickly and take more risks than Apple.
The iPod Touch is PERFECT on its own as an eReader. Turned to landscape, it would be a fairly wide screen like a small paperback book. With apple's high-res screen and text anti-aliasing, all you would need is an auto-scroll mode. The rest can be done through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB.
this is what i did for my psp and it should work even better with the iphone. get a program called paperless printer to breakdown pdf's pages into individual jpegs. put on iphone and view in photos. If you need help let me know. im getting an iphone next week im gonna try it out :) see ya
I bought an I pod and will not buy an other. I dislike designed obsolescence especially with a laughably high price tag. Also it looks like it would be hard on your eyes being an electronic source and so small.
Excellent idea. As a suggestion, I would lose the connection between the iPod (or iPhone in the future) with the display. I would replace it by a blue tooth wireless connection, such that you can carry your iPod on your belt while your reading on a very light-weight e-paper display. You really don't need to carry your processor and hard drive in your hands.
I personally think that the future are iPhone with extended user interface, such as epaper, networked with bluetooth.
iTunes could couple ebook with audiobooks, which would mean a headphone port. It would have most appeal with a dock that for every iPod/iPhone. Most docks now come with adapters anyway. Might a multi touch screen be appropriate? Zoom in, flip the page, etc. Sony ebook readers take a long time to boot and had an unintuitive interface. This would need to have a book-side interface with a directory/playlist on the iPod feeding it. A touch screen or other touch spot would be best for that.
This is the perfect solution for a generation of students who want to lose that backpack full of $100 textbooks. BTW is this a leak from Apple? Looks like a chalk talk from a development group...
This could be another revolution. It's what I was looking for since I started traveling...being able to have all my books, even uni books, and all the travel guides into the Ipod. That's a great idea, you should talk to some investor and make it!
thanks - publicdomain4u(dot)com has about a hundred old folk and blues standards (Robert Johnson, Uncle Dave Macon, etc) available for free download. They're all in the public domain, so you can use them in presentations without worrying about copyright infringement. The song in this video is "She's a hum dum dinger" by Jimmie Davis. If you're new to this type of music, I'd highly recommend Mississippi John Hurt, one of the greatest finger-pickers of all time.
