FYI the first commercial release was the Small Faces "First Step" album. It also appears on the Ronnie Lane Solo album (England and US have diff albums)...then all the rest.......
the version thats on "who came first" is actually an edited version....the longer version by Pete/Ronnie is on "Happy Birthday"....a album for Baba that was not released to the public until (finally on disc) a few years ago. I was able to find all three of the Baba albums...they are still out there but very rare. Peace
Evolution is not on Rough Mix, at least not on my copy, it IS on Who Came First, and a version is also on the Faces first album, still called Small Faces, First Step and Evolution was rechristened Stone. Ronnie also has a version on one of his solo albums I believe, but they're downstairs and I can't remember right now :)
No doubt Pete is reading the words to this as he sings. He's terrible at remembering lyrics to songs. HAHA!!

The version of this song I have is missing half the verses that are in this version.
Is there a studio version of this song that has all the verses?

If no one has told you yet, Pete and Ronnie released Evolution on the Rough Mix album.

Yeah, that's the version I have. :/

Evolution is also on Pete Townshends solo album Who Came First (1972), which Ronnie sings on, i believe. Great song.

@muttilo cool! and what comes in the dvd? I have the cd only version, and wasn't aware there's a version with dvd included.

@mhaces 1 side of the disc plays a mini doc about the album with Glyn Johns and Pete interviews from 5-6 years ago.

It most certainly is NOT on the "Rough Mix" album.
It's on Pete's "Who Came First" solo album. Ronnie sings it.

My understanding is that Stone was rechristened Evolution for Who Came First.
