  • my moms friend may have cancer

  • Um, when we leave Iraq, Obama will let the loving terrorists in to the US in droves and you won't have to worry about the s-chip. I think that will be the last thing on your mind.

  • How about this.

Remove the insurance companies all together! Prices will have to come down to a reasonable amount so that a person with an average salary can pay for services. S-CHIP will help children, but it helps the insurance companies more.

  • you got worked

  • Indeed, The program was, and still is in effect. The reason for the veto was all extraneous crap the the dems in congress tried to sneak past, not the least of which was the expansion of the program's guidelines to increase the age of those covered to people in their 20's. It's supposed to help insure kids, not adults...

  • S-CHIP wasn't a bad idea at all.

The earmarks added to the bill, and the way they wanted to get the funding was, though.

Adding a additional tax to tobacco products hurts the majority of tobacco users, which are poor. This will not make them quit either.

But yes S-CHIP, without any strings attached would have been great.

  • starcherish8 is my sister. This is our cousin Bethany. Im glad shes still alive. She was born with 3 holes in her heart. The lady picking her up was Dara Wilkerson, my aunt, obviously.

I really hate bush, and always have, always will.

  • OMG! That is actually my cousin, I'm not even joking. lol she's sooooo cute. I love her. BOOOO Bush. Thank you S-Chip!!!! Hi Bo and Dara remember the sand castle we made and the skating rink.(Bo and Dara are Bethany's parents, my uncle and aunt). LOVE YOU!

  • My friend's daughter is sick with cancer and gets treatment, plus all her meds, for FREE because we live in Canada. If we didn't have that, she would not be here today. Programs like this are really needed!

  • America wonders why the rest of the world hates them? Thats because your president decides to put his veto against sick fucking children!! Bush and the republicans disgust me// a very disapointed swede!

  • Believe me LuYuRoFr there are plenty of Americans who care about sick children more than a stupid war. Its just our leaders are so corrupt.

  • America is a great country and americans are probably great as well. Im glad Bush must leave the White House this year, but I can not bare to see another damn republican in there. I dont care if you put either Hillary or Obama in there, just not a republican... Please...

  • I hear you the problem is we have so many rednecks in this country...

  • This is just another step towards the one world government. We will all be micro chipped. The government is slowly putting their fat dick in your tight ass- it will hurt. The Government Does not give a **** about you Open your eyes and realize You are being lied 2

  • This is just another step towards the one world government. We will all be micro chipped. The government is slowly putting their fat dick in your tight ass- it will hurt. The Government Does not give a **** about you Open your eyes and realize You are being lied 2

  • Hooray for the S-CHIP program!

    Insure the 25 year olds

    Insure all illegal aliens

One step closer to socialized medicine

Then we can stickit to the Republicans with lots and lots of taxes!!!!!!!!!!

    That'll show em"

    NOT!

  • Very powerful. Although, the truth has a way of being that.

  • Leftists want government-run medicine. The problem is that they believe that everyone else should be paying for it. Are the Kennedys, Clintons, and all the other supporters gonna pay their share? Or are they just gonna raise taxes for everyone else?

  • wow does your wife appreciate you being mr soundbite, too? grow a pair, wouldya?

LOL @ "leftists" no, we call it being humane.

  • It makes my little head want to explode that there's so many Rush-ites here, labeling everything "socialized" this and that. Can you not take a moment to cut through the cr*p you've been told, to getting you thinking that way to begin with, and just wondered how much better off we'd be?

SCHIP bill = 1 week in Iraq? holy freakin' sh*t! how can this NOT be a no-brainer? oh wait a second . . . .

  • So, go ahead, go to sleep tonight and think everything's just peachy for everyone including those who do work for a living and struggle to make ends meet. I'm sure your parents will bail you out, even at 52.

BTW: he who has the most toys, doesn't really win.

  • Interesting

  • I hope none of you calling socialized medicine, "socialism" were not educated in public school, do not plan on using social security, never need the help of the police or fire department. Because all of these programs are socialized, government programs. And by using them, one might call you a hypocrite.

  • And I hope I someday learn how to write grammatically correct sentences.

  • Right on!!!!! My Dad get US Social Security and lives in Spain so he gets the Socialized Med too!!! AND HE DESERVES IT!

  • wow.

  • you are talking about socialized health care, that is not what this is about!

  • Who the heck cares what it is called? In Europe they call it "Social Security". Is that not what it is? Security on our nation's health?

  • i have two children and my work place does NOT provide coverage for my children nor my wife and we can not afford min. $800 a month for health insurance. Perhaps if this law passes i will be able to have health insurance for my kids. Should we tax the smokers? well, it would make more sense to tax the 1% richest people in the country.

  • take the money from blackwater!

save the insurance that is available now

  • good job! insure our children.

  • state health care systems are not unconstitutional, they are the constitutional way to deal with government healthcare systems. RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT in 2008, register republican soon you dont have that much time.

  • Sorry for so many posts in a row - just responding to a bunch of idiots on here who don't know what the hell they are talking about...

  • awesome commercial!!!!

  • What is the point of being the riches country in the world when we don't even take care of our own. Just to have more millionaires? Of course you only here about those who abuse the system but never about the millions who use it appropriately and need it to survive. And speaking of abusing the system, there are plenty of people with money who find loopholes and cheat the current system everyday. So let's no be self righteous.

  • An the US is leading the pack on the "one world Gov." thing. Ponder that. Corporate whores.

  • Republicans need to stop looking at their bank accounts and start paying attention to the suffering around them. Jesus said, "Suffer the little child to come unto me." George Bush wants their suffering to be a political football. If King George wins, America's children lose...

  • All politics/religion aside, people need help to live. Make it so.

  • Well, now you do.

  • SCHIP is NOT socialist healthcare. 70% of SCHIP coverage is through PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES. Yes, BlueCross, MVP, Aetna, all provide SCHIP coverage. This is NOT gov-run hc. It's gov-subsidized hc for people who can't afford it b/c it's too expensive. It costs $1000/month to buy it on your own. A family of 4 making $60K/yr can't afford that. The uninsured suffer every day. 18K people die each yr b/c they are uninsured. Get your head out of your butt and do some research yourself!

  • Funny thing is these people who are opposed to providing medical care to children (and imo we should have optional universal health care for any and all who need it) probably consider themselves Christian. Hmmmm, yeah, I am totally sure Jesus would be all for denying people medicine and preventative care.

  • Disingenuous message here.

KIDS up to 25 years old?

Family income up to $64,000 a year?

A Trojan Horse for socialized medicine.

  • So you don't want babies to live?....Is that it?

  • I don't want socialized medicine, is it.

  • It's not for you, it's for children that don't have any healthcare because their parents can't afford it

  • I don't want socialized medicine because it doesn't work for anyone as well as private medicine does.

This entire argument is about socialism, pure and simple, and using kids as surrogates for the argument.

Socialism is bad, democratic elections, rule of law, free market capitalism is good. Simple as that.

  • its to save children's fucking lives, are you saying that thousands of children should die for no reason. its only health cover for kids, not retarded fags like u!!!

  • are you suggesting that thousands of children are now dying because they are turned away from medical care facilities?

What country do you live in?

  • If anyone did some ACTUAL research into the SCHIP expansion, they would easily find that it does not cover just children, and it does cover up to 400X the poverty level. Why the hell should I pay insurance for a guy that's got a 400k hous, and 3 new cars? The fact that the far left is incapable of discussing this issue logically without resorting to human child shields and ridiculous claims of "republicans hate babies" is simply a cover up for the truth about the issue.

  • This is the typical far-left liberal response. You are just unable to think locically about an issue so you say ridiculous things like that.

  • honestly, I wouldn't care if they wrapped every child's life they saved in a red blanked as long as their life was saved.... we are talking about life and death here. children are dying un-necessarily -> something needs to be done about it. saying that the child gets what they deserve because the parents shouldn't have had the child in the first place doesn't cut it.

  • Surely now the Republicans have scraped the bottom of the barrel, right? They can't possibly get any lower than swift boating this adorable 2 year old toddler. RIGHT? Please tell me this is as low as they can go! May God (who a Republican knows nothing about) bless this girl.

  • Didn't like the swift boaters eh?

    BWAHAHAHAHAHA

  • If SCHIP does pass, I would like to welcome the U.S. into the 20th Century. As for the 21st, I guess we'll have to wait a little longer.

  • ok socialized medicine is def not the answer, how about this, no war in iraq and no socialized medicine!! let's have everyone keep their money and instead of paying politicians millions of dollars to funnel only thousands of dollars to welfare people...we could have private charities set up to help the uninsured

  • Cool and with S-Chip when she gets herpes at age 23 she will still get some tax payer to pay for her creams.

  • do you pay for your own health insurance?

  • Let's not expand the program to include 25 year olds and people who are 300% above the poverty line. Personally, if it's not in the constitution it isn't government's job period. Bush is perfectly fine with keeping the program for poor children but the Democrats need to make more dependents out of the American people. They need more people depending on government which ensures their power.

  • Cool video. I worked in a nursing home, and realized that the residents were being warehoused like cattle. The facility was always understaffed, because that meant higher profits for the greedy businessmen who owned it. Rich people are not better than poor people, they just don't have to work as hard.

  • How about this.

Remove the insurance companies all together! Prices will have to come down to a reasonable amount so that a person with an average salary can pay for services. S-CHIP will help children, but it helps the insurance companies more.

  • Not a bad idea.

  • First the right calls on Grame Frost to be publicly executed, now they are saying that this little girl should have never been born because her parents are poor. What the hell is wrong with Republicans? Why are these "patriots" and "christians" always the first to say "screw my fellow American, screw my fellow man"? They are hollow shells of human beings and I pray for the day that education and enlightenment leads to their extinction.

  • No one has made either of those statements. Please stop attributing false claims to Republicans. You are a liar and a fraud.

I pray for the day that idiots like you stop making false and defamatory accusations.

  • "WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's spokesman acknowledged yesterday that he alerted reporters last week to questions bloggers raised about the financial circumstances of a 12-year-old boy Democrats had used to urge passage of an expanded children's health insurance program."

  • I don't see anything in there about executing Graeme Frost. Moron...

  • Liar and fraud

  • And they have the nerve to run on the pro-life ticket. It's disgusting.

  • Bush is trying to Depopulate America.

    NWO agenda and stuff

  • fed aid treats you like cattle. They cut me because we make 600$ over guidelines for a family of 4.They penalized us 220$ each per year for NOT carrying health right after they booted us.steal my money+tax and provide it to other people, illegals, etc.instead of helping US purchase an affordable plan.I'm out of savings, kids need a shit load for local schools being so broke.TELL ME WHY I SHOULD BE A SLAVE TO SAVE THAT LITTLE GIRLS LIFE WHEN MY CHILDREN AND OUR HEALTH AND HOME IS AT STAKE.

  • I guess if you like to see children in pain and dying your against S-Chip. This isn't about socialized health care it's about kids. So if your against S-Chip than you are not a pro-life support. If you see the pics of the Frost kids after their wreck and they were your kids I think your opinion would change. Again this is about kids. What Would Jesus Do?

  • "This isn't about socialized health care it's about kids. "

THen how come there are over 1 million "adults" who get health care through S-CHIP??? Moron...

  • Can you site your source for this info?

  • Last comment was a reply for truthmattersfa:

THen how come there are over 1 million "adults" who get health care through S-CHIP??? Moron...

  • Yes, there are adults who get coverage through SCHIP, so what? It is a fact that kids are more likely to have coverage if their parents have coverage. And what the hell is wrong with covering adults? They don't need health care? If they get sick and die because they are uninsured, and their kids are orphans, you can bet it will be more expensive to have the state care for them then than it would be to just cover their parents. Use your head people!

  • "And what the hell is wrong with covering adults?"

Because Nancy Pelosi is whining every 10 seconds about cutting off health care to children and that this is for kids and about being mean to kids. Well, that simply isn't true.

  • The current plan covers adults. The bill that Bush vetoed actually phases out covering adults. So, Nancy Pelosi is absolutely correct. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • We need everyone covered!

  • i think that alot of people are still in the matrix... this video has a totally eerie feeling of hypnotism in it...

  • NO to s-chip. the next step is the v-chip to make sure we are who we are when so s-chip can cover us. Get off of my back, government. I'd rather die than let you own me.

  • Then be my guest, and let Darwinism prevail.

  • We are the Less free. Don't compare live with your TV

  • Has propaganda become that much more prevalent due to the Internet, or are they just trying less to hide it now?

  • its a real big mess to fix... but RON PAUL can do it!! RON PAUL 08

  • I agree with some of what Ron Paul says but his liberterain side kind of scares me. As a Dem I think he is better than any other of the repub canidates in that he is himself and not trying to copy Bush or ride on his coat tails. He would still have a fight with congress but at least it would be change from the current Neo-Con perspective that has been screwing everything up and back to some fiscal responsability. I wish Ron Paul luck in the primarys.

  • and bush isnt trying to save anything... he's a puppet you gotta remember... he'll veto it so that if hillary comes in and says yes to universal healthcare people will support her... then we go into iran if we havnt already by then...

  • yea... alot of mindlessness will do that to people... not to mention propaganda.... never thought i'd be using that word in my lifetime...

  • They've ruined Social Security and schools. Do you really want these people providing your medical coverage? Think people! I can't understand how people will just line up to hand over their paychecks to these bureaucrats. Wake up!

  • This is very misleading propaganda. I was raised Liberal-Democrat, and even I have to speak out against this video. Learn the facts. Bush didn't veto Bethany. He is protecting us from another huge government, socialized, totalitarian system. If those words are too big for you, just ask yourself how much bigger of a role do you want government to play in your life.

  • thats the point of leaving a comment...

  • schip = first step in socialism ^_^ this whole universal healthcare is gonna be crap... you think the government is gonna do a better job than private companies are?? you're living in fantasy world if you think so... the insurance companies are another deal... the government shouldnt have ANYTHING to do with healthcare...

  • Ranting will do you know good.

  • Bush supports raising the funding for the S-CHIP program, but not extending it to adults making $80,000 a year. The CBO (non-partisan) says that under the Dem plan, for every 2 people added to SCHIP 1 will leave the private insurance. It's a bad bill meant to stick it to Bush. Only a hack believes that Bush doesn't want healthy kids. Oh, and for "Sicko" fans, read todays AP story about Brits having to pull their own teeth.

  • No one said that private insurance is preferred over other medical coverage.

I was diagnosed with cancer this year. I make $75,000 a year - good job with insurance. The best surgeon for ovarian cancer lives in my city, but he is out-of-network so I have to pay 30% of his bill. Doesn't sound like a high % until you get your 5 day hospital bill that is in the hundreds of thousands. Sorry bugzy, but $75,000 a year doesn't cut it. I'm completely broke and still have chemotherapy to pay for.

  • Why didn't you stay in network then? You made a choice and you have to pay for that choice. Why didn't you use a hospital in your network? Your chemo should be covered as well.

  • yeah, Weddel, just wait til you have cancer and the good doctors don't take your insurance... all doctors are the same right? Until you are the one who's life is on the line.

  • Do you honestly think that if you have socialized medicine you will get to go to the "good doctors"? Wake up! My life is on line when you want to screw up a good system that produces great doctors.

  • The rich will always have their "good" doctors, the greedy ones just resent chipping in to the pool for everyone else. They could arrange to opt out if they care nothing for public health.

  • That's disingenuous because it depends where you live and the cost of living there. A job that pays 40k in a small town in Maine will pay 80k in San Francisco, but it costs a lot more to live in San Francisco. You can make more money, but have less available to spend, and so you might need some help in the face of a catastrophic injury or illness.

  • And Bush proved that he didn't care about anyone who wasn't rich when Katrina happened. Like the antichrist in the bible, he pretends to care and says what you want to hear, but his actions show who he really is.

  • Yeah, Katrina was all Bush's fault. The governor and mayor were at fault as well as the stupid people who stayed. Funny how a report can get a cab from the airport to the dome, but no one could get out!

  • They couldn't get out because Blackwater was there keeping them "contained"... it was on the news and everything. Reporters spoke to people who were prevented from leaving. The rational was that all those black people would go looting if they let them out. That was the justification for trapping people in unsanitary conditions, with little or no food and water, some of them dying.

  • Watch "Sicko" the movie.

Britain, Italy, France and a number of other countries have much better health care systems than USA.

USA likes to idolize "the best" until Lobbyists pay off Politicians.

Then the population repeats Faux News rhetoric.

  • s chip can work but it needs to be voluntary and NOT MANDATORY. I dont want my rights taken away.

  • Yay, free healthcare is on the way. Why not free cars, gas, houses, food, clothes and computers too. Look how well goverment did with welfare, social security and medicaid. Keep government far away from our money.

  • Well, I make less than that and have ALWAYS paid for my own health insurance. The fact is that this is a first step towards government run health care. Health insurance costs a lot. I will grant you that, but that does not mean that the government should be paying for it. There are better ways of solving the problem.

  • Once of the most pathetic ads I've ever seen. Interesting that the parents have no problem having kids while not financially secure and expect taxpayers to foot the bill. Also, I'd like to see the justification as to why 25 year old college students should get taxpayer subsidized health insurance (which they would under the Democratic proposed S-CHIP expansion)??

  • And I'm sure you are the ultra Republican who is against abortion while chastising people who have kids they "can't afford". Monsters, all of you right wingers.

  • What is wrong with personal responsibility? Don't have sex if don't want to be pregnant. If you get pregnant, don't murder the baby for your carelessness. If you have kids, have only the number you can afford, then get yourself FIXED!

  • your mom should have done that, she has no sense of personal responsibility.

  • Also, I'd like to see the justification as to why 25 year old college students should get taxpayer subsidized health insurance (which they would under the Democratic proposed S-CHIP expansion)??

  • Billions for Iraq and corporate welfare but nothing for the people in this country.

  • Nothing! We are spending BILLIONS on the people of this country. Bush himself proposed increasing this program by 5 Billion. This is about socialized medicine.

  • We need socialized medicine instead of letting the insurance companies and the pharmas right our legislation. What a nasty bunch of people you are to think 5 billion extra will even keep up with inflation in Bushco's wonderful econamy.

  • How typical of Bush. After spending like a drunken sailor for years he now wants to cut spending... FOR LITTLE SICK KIDS! He'd be the first to pick up a kid for a photo-op, and the first to stab the little buggers in back for a "higher purpose". He IS a great republican for sure.

  • But (W) needs all available moneys for unjust wars overseas...not sick children...you liberals need to get your priorities straight!

  • I can't wait till we get a new President.

  • dumbo9181: If you can't wait, try taking a long walk off a short pier, you won't be missed.

  • But who DESERVES this new program? Not some guy living in a half-million dollar home with three kids in private schools like the Democrats want. Not illegal aliens.

  • Rich people do NOT qualify for this program - neither do non-citizens - at least not in the 3 states I have lived.

Income limits depend on what your state gov. chooses (up to a fed. max, of course.) Living on $40K in rural South Dakota is different than trying to live on that same amount in, say, Denver. I am not saying what congress submitted was fair - but at least it is not national healthcare - (she says with a mock gasp!)

This is not a partisan issue - or shouldn't be.

  • It is not a partisan issue for Republicans, only Democrats. Bush already approved a 5 billion expansion of the program. This is about the first steps towards socialized medicine.

  • "Rich people do NOT qualify for this program "

They would have the way the democrats wrote it!

  • Unfortunately, the sources you rely upon here, are completely untrustworthy. The house was bought for 50 grand, and the only reason it is worth half a mill is because of their own handy work on it. Their collected annual yearly income is 40 grand, and the kids only go to private school because they are clever and got scholarships.

  • ♥

  • Congress doens't want s-chip to pass. There will be no overturn of the veto. This is the step to socialized medicine, the government telling what care we can get and when we can get it.

What makes anyone think just because health care is socialized the government won't still turn people away?

  • Universal single-payer healthcare does not imply government run healthcare. It means that the doctors are in charge of the treatment and are the authority in regard to when and what care you shall be offered. Not some insurance company representative nor government bureaucrat with no medical insight and with a profit motif behind his/her decisions. You are aware that US is spending triple the amount Canada does per head on healthcare, with way worse results on average, right? How come?

  • Wrong! Who do think supplies Canada with drugs? We do! You get them cheaper because your government has price controls. If the US had the same system, there would be no new drugs or cheap drugs for Canadians. If we had a single payer system, who would be the "payer"? The government!

  • Even though there is some truth to that statement, it is not the major contributing factor to this equation. The MAIN reason US has triple the expenditures on healthcare of Canada, is because you are subject to a huge and costly private bureaucracy, namely the insurance industry. But you are right that America is paying much the price for big pharmas investments in innovations in the field of medicine.

  • Respectfully, you are wrong. There is not a "huge and costly private bureaucracy". Insurance companies watch their costs because they are in it for profit. The problem is that government gets away with only paying 80% of the cost of the care supplied to Medicare patients. The same is true of Medicaid patients as well. If we had socialized medicine, the government would have to ration care.

  • "You are aware that US is spending triple the amount Canada does per head on healthcare, with way worse results on average, right? How come?"

That's easy, becasue too many people are abusing the system and getting drugs they do not need. They go to emergency rooms for non-emergency needs! We are overweight, abuse drugs, alcohol and cigerettes! If people were more responsible for themselves and let the health care system take care of those who really need it, there would be no problem.

  • Maybe if the Decepticrats hadn't tried to expand s-chip to children of wealthy families and just left it for the poor like it was meant to be the Dubya wouldn't of vetoed it. It pisses me off. One party puts tons of pork in a bill and then cries when the other party shoots it down.

  • And if we didn't abuse or health care system here in America maybe it wouldn't be screwed up today. I've seen people go to emergency rooms for the common cold. And I know people who work in pharmacies who can tell you how often people try to lie and cheat to get pain pills.

Good health is not rocket science people. If we all took responsibilty for our own health, we wouldn't have a messed up health care system today.

  • If S-CHIP really had been expanded to "children of wealthy families", then Bush wouldn't have vetoed it. After all, he already gave the wealthy all those tax breaks, why not free health insurance too? No, the reason Bush vetoed it is because it would show Democrats in Congress helping lower middle class working families -- something the Republicans never did -- and we can't have that, now, can we...

  • Neither Republicans or Democrats give a rats ass about helping the middle class. All they care about is their own power and pockets. The sooner the American People realize this, the sooner we can see real change in America.

  • Speaking as a member of the middle class, I don't want the government helping me. I take care of myself and my family as should everyone else. It is not the government's job to help me.

  • There is hope! :)

  • "I don't want the government helping me. I take care of myself and my family as should everyone else."

TOMORROW - you could lose your job and your insurance, get sick and fall into bankruptcy. You could live the American Dream your whole life, but all it takes is getting sick and your life is destroyed. We'll see how strong your stance is when its yourself or your family in need.

  • It is not the government's job to protect me from such things. I have worked hard, saved, paid my bills, and planned for such things. I have insurance because I have paid for it. I choose not to have certain things so that my kids, my wife, and I have health coverage.

  • Sometimes bad things happen to good people, people who do all the right things and make all the 'right' choices. Count your blessings - you must live a charmed life to view the world as you do.

  • No, my wife and I have had to struggle to afford health insurance. I have always paid my own health insurance. I am not against helping those who really need the help. I am against a government run health care system.

  • I am not sure why people are against a government health system as long as a private one exists. It works very well in West European social democracies.

It is my belief that everyone benefits from a social program like this. Better insured people genearlly means a healthier economy and less crime in the long run.

  • I think the point is that a program like this does not take that much tax money. If you want more money to take care of your family, let's get out of Iraq, which costs something like 100,000 times as much as the proposed S-CHIP thing. It's a relatively small price to pay for something with much greater and more tangible dividends than our so-called war on terror.

  • There is no relationship between fighting terrorism and having socialized medicine. If one is against the war in Iraq then that is a separate debate. Terrorism has a price tag. Look at what 9-11 costs this country in terms of dollars and lost economic activity.

  • You might have a point if there was a real link between fighting terrorism and the war in Iraq.

The argument against this is that it costs tax money. The federal government has one budget and therefore, we need to decide how to maximize the benefit with the money that goes in. My point is that we get a LOT more out of federal dollars from a program like this than we do in an expensive war whose purpose is vague at best.

  • There a huge link. We have not been attacked since 9-11. We have taken the fight to the terrorists in their own backyard. We have killed or capture over 60,000 terrorists. We have established a free and democratic government in the heart of the Middle East.

As for SCHIP, expanding the program as much as the Democrats wanted would create a dependency on the federal government for those who CAN pay for their own health insurance. NOT A BENEFIT!

  • That terrorism stuff is pure republican spin. As I am sure you know, Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 and still has almost nothing to do with it.

We've not been attacked since 9-11 - but only if you mean "on U.S. soil" and you don't count our allies. I don't see what that has to do with the wars. The "terrorists" we fight in Iraq are terrorists we made by invading Iraq in the first place.

  • They would not be terrorists - which you seem call people fighting off an occupying power, if we had not invaded.

S-CHIP: well I'd hardly call a family income of $55 K or lower "able to pay for health insurance" unless you live in Alabama or something. I make more than that and insurance just about breaks us.

  • You are a victim of the liberal media. The terrorists are flocking to Iraq because they cannot allow us to be successful there. We are not an occupying power. There is no way we could not be there without the support of the people and the government.

  • The "liberal media"?! Well I read lots of foreign media and there is no way in hell you can consider our media to be liberal!!! It tows the party (the government's) line pretty darn earnestly. I read lots of media, including FOX.

They do flock to Iraq - I agree. But on the other hand, think about why terrorism happens. (next post)

  • I mean we come to their country, invade with vague goals at best with no clear timeline for leaving, we have failed to set up a stable government, and cause thousands of CIVILIAN causalties. Our presence has lead to the massive degradation of infrastructure, health, and a huge rise in crime - where do you get that we have the "support from the people"? I get this from buddies over there, not the media. If that happened to my country I would be PISSED and I would fight. It think you would too.

  • We don't have enough troops in Iraq to stay without the support of the people. We had and have very specific goals and we are achieving them. You cannot have a "clear time line". Wars don't work that way. Civilians were dying long before we invaded. I recall people saying before the war, MILLIONS of children were dying. The government is stable but it is still relatively new and working to bring reconciliation to a divided country.

  • Well, when was the last time you heard any of them talk about the terrorists we have killed or captured? Our media has been working with the Democrats to undermine the war effort and bring down George Bush.

  • "The "terrorists" we fight in Iraq are terrorists we made by invading Iraq in the first place. "

Yea, because there were never any terrorists anywhere in the Middle East before we invaded Iraq. Salman Pak. Google it. Moron.

  • Of course there were terrorists in the MidEast (as there were in Ireland, the US (google "Oklahoma bombings" sometime), Germany (google "Rote Armee Faction or KAP"), Russia, among many other places. My point is that the way to deal with terrorism is not to act like an international bully.

  • I never said Iraq had anything to do with 9-11 directly. Some suggest that there is evidence that they were in communication with Al-Queda.

Yes, I mean on our own soil. No, the terrorists we are fighting in Iraq are not one we created. These are Al-Queda terrorists. The people of Iraq have no reason to blow up their own people. While there is some sectarian violence, much of that has been caused by Al-Queda.

  • Hey at least you're thinking about it eh - yeah, a lot of it is Al-Queda, undoubtedly, but I don't think anyone can argue that we have done much good in Iraq. I think we've acted with a huge dose of hubris as well as cultural and political arrogance - and that's never good.

  • Would you rather Al-Queda was killing Americans than Iraqis? It was not hubris, but courage to finally do what needed to be done. By invading Iraq and Afghanistan, we have taken the fight to the terrorists. No longer can they hid behind international law and the sovereignty of a supporting nation.

  • What you need to realize is that the present crisis in health care has been directly caused by our government. Government programs like Medicare and Medicaid caused tremendous problems because they failed to fully pay providers for their care. Costs were shifted to private payers and insurance companies which increased their costs. When our government had wage controls, e
