  • K series, right? They all sound a bit like typewriters at idle. Agreed, injectors. With a thin walled tubular header, you'll hear them "ticking" when the cam advances enough to begin opening the intake valves while the exhaust valves are still open (overlap). Freaks a good many people out who put headers on K-series.

  • and at idle, there isn't enough air moving through the engine to drown out the injector sound... nor is 14hz audible to humans (850rpm)... so the only sound you get is the injectors. tick tick tick

  • If you want to know if you need a valve adjustment, smell the oil in the valve cover...

if it smells like oil... that is awesome

if it smells a little bit like gas, okay...

if it REEKS of gas and you drive like a total a-hole, that is why, and you should change your oil often...

if it REEKS of gas and you drive like a granny 99% of the time... consider a valve adjustment

  • just smell the underside of the oil fill cap

  • sounds normal

  • it's injectors

  • injectors are quite loud they need to be cleaner or replaced, can hear another noise which would probably be the valves

  • LMAO Screw Honda! Honda for life! Do you guys even hear yourselves?

  • Rsx is fucking garbage. Integra for life

  • @acuratlnigga The RSX IS the Integra.....furthermore, the ONLY good Integras were HONDA's, not Acura's.

  • thats deffinatly a hydrualic not making pressure run a thicker oil when its real hot out

  • Valve adjustment

  • Need vav

  • hey man did you find out what the noise was sounds like my type s?

  • valve tick

  • just reset the valves every 15000k its easy and does wonders for your engine

  • My Honda Civic has been doing that for about 50k miles!

  • that is not your valves. slick 50 the oil. could possibly be a collapsed lifter or two.

  • yes almost all honda 4 bangers sound like a "sewing mechine" valve train but this one is a little noisy, liek someone mentioned before, make sure you run premium fuel. some of it is the injectors but this is a valve noise. deff have a honda dealer check it out.

  • not a k20

  • oh hah in description it says that it's a type s lol silly me i didnt even read that part XD

  • lol i'm sorry i just had to comment on this after reading the comment... this is a k20. from the looks of the mani it's a k20a2 (type-s). just saying... :P

  • Its not a K series huh, funny cause the intake manifold is in the front(k-series) the valve cover in silver and rounded(k-series), your not very good at selling parts if you dont even know what to look for, go back to your parts counter and stop shit talking.

  • @quintero247 haha thank you! lol it is SO a k series motor, besides why would someone swap a NOT k series into an rsx.... unless it was better than a k.... which would be an f20 n its rwd

  • change the oil cheap ass punk

  • @alvardie Thats not an oil change child, it needs to a valve adjustment, pretty pathetic to feel good cause you called some one you dont even know a cheap punk!

  • ok well i have an integra with this same problem and have no clue wat it is im going to try a valve adjustment and see if that works...??

  • Those are the fuel injectors. I've had a k20a3, k20a2, and a k20z1 and by far the k20a2 injectors are the loudest for some reason. I'm sure you've got it "fixed" but for anyone else wondering, it's just the k20a2 fuel injectors...

  • those are the valves your hearing. ive got a rsxs too and its ok

  • Even with the proper oil it sounds like that. Usually if a car is low on oil you'll hear the valves sounding like that.. Wow I'm shocked.

  • this is k series its supose to sound like that dont worrie its nomal! not sure about other cars with kseries but i know for sure all rsx sound like this and a fill 08 civic si.

  • @maihermoua its not a K series at all.

  • @Dazboss1 you must not know about hondas/acuras if you say this motor isnt a k series.

  • @63lmorales

That engine there in the video is not a K-series. It don't even look like a K-Series. I sell car parts all day long & i know what engines are what !

  • @Dazboss1 omg dude this is a k series you noob, fucking stupid

  • Comment removed

  • @Dazboss1 lol u sell car parts but you dont have a clue about cars xD FAIL ! OWNED ! EPIC FAIL ! NOOB !

  • @walteratomspalter

Prove it a K-series then ? Ive worked on many K-series engine & that isn't one. End of.

  • @Dazboss1 why prove?i drive a accord type-s with k24 ;)

  • @Dazboss1 lmao... this is a k20? acur sign on top? obv a k20

  • @enjoiyoutube

    So its a 20v K-series ????

    K-series only did 8v & 16v.

  • @Dazboss1 haha no man they did a 20 and a 24 too

  • @Dazboss1 this is a kseries motor numb nuts

  • valve adjustment..its a common thing in hondas...i had the same problem in my accord

  • needa adjust your valves man

  • your valves need to be tightened or loosened

  • measure you valve lash

  • im having a similar problem, 99 accord 4 cyl

  • Its the gas, that etho is gumming up valves and messing up the ignition sequence

  • man my 08 si with 17000 miles sounds just like that

  • is there a balance belt on this model?

  • extremely loud injectors??? thats my part in it

  • if it matches your rpms then its a valve tick.. use thicker oil n some oil treatment n u shud b good.. plus a valve adjustment

  • its gotta be the hydraulic lifers not getting oil...

  • it doesn't have hydraulic lifters

  • Get a valve adjustment. Does it have forged pistons? If so, it could be piston slap as well.

  • how much is it for a valve adjustment on a 4 banger?

  • Not sure, I have always done it myself

  • its not a big deal to take off the rocker cover but what tools would i need?

  • Ask some shops, or do it yourself if you got the tools.

Pick up a manual for your car if you are really lost, itll explain how to do almost everything and give you an idea if its too hard for you to do yourself.

  • Your engine is cold! It takes time to get oil up to those noisy lifters. Use lucas oil and you wont have a problem!!!

  • Your engine is cold let the engine warm up and the valves should be quiter. My accord does this same thing. Geeze honda owners need to chill on the valve tapping issues just be watchful on rod knock noise.

  • check your oil level as well

  • i have a k20 hatch and i had the same problem, i reajusted the valves, it helped a lil but it seem than this noise is normal, still on my mind though.

  • check the rockers one of them could be loose, had the same thing on my cousins 350

  • obnoxious honda/acura door chime

  • if your car sounds like a diesel, it might be something you wanna get looked at. check the valve spring tension

  • thats normal on these cars, it gets better once its warmed up

  • How can you tell the difference between valve noise and injector noise??

  • yeah its a valve knock and if you ppl say its not i own a dsm i slap valves all day

  • yeah i think its injectors

  • adjust the valve clearence!!! sell the engine 2 me ile do it!

  • maybe the oil pump chain guide is broken

  • dude i have an 02 ep3 with 40000km's, makes the same noise getting it checked out at honda today ill post ya what is found on it! thanks for posting this iv been looking all over seeing if anyone else has this problem!

everyone else whats the miles/km's on yer vehicle when did you first adjust vavles ???

  • did you find out what was wrong with it? i have the same prob

  • I basically did an oil change and valve adjustment, and it seems a lot quieter now. I was told by a few people that this series of engines is supposed to make that sound. So I am not worried about it that much.

  • my DC5 does the same thing. I adjusted the valves and readjusted them. These motors are just naturally noisy like that

  • Thats because they're shitty.

  • There right i have a 03 Type-S and i when i first heard it i was like "oh shit...not a good sound" lol It's deffinently a normal sound i think its more a less a broken-in noise IMO.

  • @vovan777kz Yep, All honda engines have some good ole' valve tap. If it's audible from the Cabin, Then you have a problem

  • @vovan777kz what octane of fuel do you use? i do believe that the recommended octane for the K20A2 is 91, that could be why your hearing a little knocking due to detonation.

  • i think theres some rice stuck some where in there

  • might be the injectors have someone look at it to be sure

  • Thanks man. I will bring to a mechanic see what he says. It's speculation but I think it sometimes sounds like an exhaust leak...

  • It's your injectors my 2008 si sounds the same.
