@mercmarc ...well i see u like the old style body kit..but heres one thing one car sales...if they kept useing the same GTO body style..sales will go down..and rember...1968 was when Pontiac GTO became CAR OF THE YEAR with its new style and performence..besides..ill that whole damn seris XD!!
My dad use to have a 65 pontiac gto. I bought a 68 pontiac tempest about 2 months ago. it is in great condition and only has 18,000 miles. i wish i could have bought the car a year ago while i was still in high school.
I love mine. '67 with 400 ci, 4 speed. It ranks 3rd, right under my wife and kids. I told her we will live in this car before I ever sold it. Working on the permits now so I can be buried in it when I die. No shit, it is a blast to drive.
And the guy doin' the talkin'--the late actor Paul Richards--helped sell a lot of Pontiacs in the 60s and 70s...he built excitement (at least in the commercials, since the cars sold themselves!)
if only the car manufacturers would remember this guys point "theres more to driving than just going from place to place." the only thing that looks promising is the 08 challenger and 09 camaro. i heard on the news a couple nights ago that all new cars by 2020 have to get 35 mpg average, which equals smaller car, smaller engine, lower power, bigger price tag, higher gas prices and muscle car lovers getting mad
Yep, it's the great one, alright. I've had up to fifteen at a time and it's by far the best out of the GTO models. Heck of a lot better than the new ones, they're just hondas with the GTO symbol.
hey, i have the 04 gto, and ill run circles around it and also destroy it in the 1/4 mile in reverse, i love the great one but dont call the new one a honda.
Wow, you can beat a 40 year old car with a new one!!!
It's just my opinion but the new GTO looks very bland in comparison to this one and really can get mistaken for a Honda or something if you're not looking carefully when you look at it from the side. LOL. They should've stuck with the Trans Am IMO.
First, BMW stole the tag line, now they are steeling the look. The new BMW's even look like Pontiac. The slim kidneys morphed to a wide split grill like a Pontiac. The 335i twin turbo engine now has the bottom end torque of a Pontiac. The only thing they will never have is the sole of The Great One! 1967 GTO.
I've had several, and the 67 I had was my favorite. 4 speed close ratio and 3.90 gears. That thing came out of the hole like a moth&r fu^%er. A tire smoking gear grabbing BLAST. Long live the GTO, the grandaddy of them all, and the yardstick by which all muscle cars are judged.
My Mom still has the '67 GTO that she bought new from Gianera Pontiac in La Crescenta which is now Foothill Nissan. The '67 GTO is my 2nd fav car.....next to my '66 Olds 442.
They sold more 67 GTOs than any other muscle car of any year. Why am I the only one who still has one. You guys with your mustangs and chevelles, dime a dozen man. Respect the GTO
Not sure about that, I'll have to check. But the "Bobcat" kit was only available from Royal Pontiac (Royal Bobcat) and I believe that dealer honored the warranty. Remember as well that in 1967 you could order front disc brakes with power assist. They made a uge difference in stopping this beast. My 67 had them.
I have a 67 GT500 and a 70 Chevelle and no one and I mean no one has beat me yet with the GT500. I have beaten Vipers, cudas, vettes you name i beat it and my cars are all street legal. My cars have been in the family since they were bought in 1967 and 1970. I lost to a Plymouth Hemi Superbird thats it

They're not Hondas, They're Holdens. Holden Monaros! Originally built in Australia. Sadly The Monaro is no longer available on the Australian market.
mattrichardsAOR 4 years ago
The "new" GTO is no comparison to the 60's-70's era of GTO.
I agree with BoltActions completely.

Umm. I think the `66 out sold the `67. The `67 looks better though, and has the 400 instead of the `66`s 389.

Under 3 grand new. Drum brakes. The 'Bobcat' kit ($70) installed would void the drivetrain warranty.
