I'm archaeologist and I'm telling you from historical facts and excavations that took place on the island:Cyprus wasn't Greek. This island was mixed all the time: first came Phoenicians, then Minoans, then Anatolian, before them some other cultures. This island was shared through many thousand years by various populations. It was NEVER PURE GREEK since the beginning! I suggest you go back to school and read History of Cyprus from the beginning and then speak up here instead of telling bullshits.

Yes, Turkey is occupier, but greeks started the war (Grivas) and they wanted ethnic cleansing of the island, so that was pretty wrong of them. Cyprus equally belongs both to Greek and Turkish Cypriots.

If greeks were afraid of turkish invasion as you say, then why did turkish response in 1974. came as a suprise for greece (beacuse if it is as you said, then greeks should have been prepared for that) . Also, Turkey did not immediately resort to force to solve the cyprus issue. The Greek Cypriots were given over 10 years to find a solution to the issue, but never co-operated. They continually attacked villages and the Turkish Cypriots were treated as second class citizens. The Turks were forced to live on 15% of the land for nearly 10 years. Even before the night of the invasion, the Greek Cypriot PM refused to co-operate, which shows dipolomacy is silent, turkish guns done the talking!

The Turkish armies motive in cyprus wasnt to invade, but to end an invasion. It wasnt to destroy democracy but to restore it. I'm archaeologist and I'm telling you from historical facts and excavations that took place on the island:Cyprus wasn't Greek. This island was mixed all the time: first came Phoenicians, then Minoans, then Anatolian, before them some other cultures. This island was shared through many thousand years by various populations. @genas6666 Actually, in the 16th century the majority population was Turkish, until they traded Cyprus for british help in the Turkish-Russian wars. Yes, Turkey is occupier, but greeks started the war (Grivas) and they wanted ethnic cleansing of the island, so that was pretty wrong of them. Cyprus equally belongs both to Greek and Turkish Cypriots.

If greeks were afraid of turkish invasion as you say, then why did turkish response in 1974. came as a suprise for greece (beacuse if it is as you said, then greeks should have been prepared for that) . I think greeks were not prepared for attack and that is the main reason why it ended so tragically.

They continually attacked villages and the Turkish Cypriots were treated as second class citizens. The Turks were forced to live on 15% of the land for nearly 10 years. Even before the night of the invasion, the Greek Cypriot PM refused to co-operate, which shows dipolomacy is silent, turkish guns done the talking!
