Why did I discover this band only two days ago? And why were they not at all popular over here? I'm the same generation. Better late than never! Love 'em!
Alan, the Arrows singer played guitar and sang with both bands, Derringer and Meat Loaf in the eighties. In 1985 he made a solo album on Polydor and acted in the Encyclopedia Brown tv series.
@HengistTheGreat. Hi, Alan sang lead in The Arrows and played bass. but during his time with Derringer in the early 80s he played guitar and sang harmony. At the same time he was recording a solo album (Never Pet A Burning Dog) with the Derringer band backing him up on about 5 tracks recorded around 1982.

The lead singer, playing bass here, played guitar with Meat Loaf 10 years after this clip was made. Versatile fella!

He played guitar with Derringer for a few years as well. It's on youtube.

I like this song. Good vocal sound. Sparse production overall. It sounds pretty bare until the Nicky Hopkins keyboard thing kicks in at the end.

I always thought Phil Coulter played that piano part. Was it Nicky Hopkins?
singlegorilla 4 years ago 3
I think it's their producer Phil Coulter playing the Hopkins-Rolling Stones style percussive piano stuff at the end of the song.

But you still get the impression that they keep it simple because it sounds better like that, not because they can't handle more. Sorry Ramones fans.
