@Baltican Yeah, you use them to absorb the sound so in effect it cuts out a lot of the noise levels and vibrations.. You can use egg cases but they wont be hugely effective but you can buy foam that is shaped like egg cases which you just cut up and attach to your wall .. its all about soundproofing and making it sound better ;D

@Baltican They're used to break up the sound waves. If a wave gets to bounce of the walls to much, your recording, and the sound in the room, will just be messy. Because egg cases have an uneven surface, they make the sound bounce in different directions, thus canceling it out quicker, making the room sound more "dry" (no or very little echoing). If strategically placed they can also cancel out standing waves. Which is sound waves that has the same frequenzy as the room itself.
