Yes and No.Game music is real music but only to gamers and anyone who lives in japan. But for some reason everyone else dones feel this way.

lol wut?, is not only real to gamers but to anyone with taste, music is music, its universal and very powerful, no matter where it is from, if its good, exactly like we have here... the 8-bit era is past, nowadays, video game music is just outstanding and very memorable. (and even the 8-bit era was, but as you said, that was pretty much for gamers alone)
