It was this recording from 1905 that inspired the young Herbert Khaury--otherwise known as Tiny Tim, to spend the rest of his life in serious study of American popular song.
My mother was born in Marietta, Ohio. She told me that when she went to school there back in the mid-1920's, this record was played at her school, as the kids filed into the building. For quite some time "Beautiful Ohio" was the Buckeye State Song.
Thanks for posting this! I remember my dad singing this tune in the car once in a while. Though for the longest time I had it mixed up with "Beautiful Dreamer".
