  • I know a few people I would love to play this song for. and a few that it suits quite well. thank you for posting it.

  • where did youget the picks at 2;05 2;0 and 2;08

  • @pianeshot I can tell you the one that comes up at 2:08 is a Druchii (dark elf) sorceress from Warhammer.

  • for everyone who is asking the series is the heralds of valdemar this is from the last book of a trilogy in the series i suggest reading all of her valdemar books i found them to be among the best books i ever read

  • where did you get the pics??

  • @Phoenixfire624 thank you i definatly would have you read the sword of shannara trilogy it brilliant

  • @PaganWitchGirl

This is Talia's series, talking about the third book in the series. The books are called Arrows of the Queen, Arrows Flight, and Arrows Fall. I loved them. You should definetly check them out, and her others as well! Her books are amazing!!

  • what is the name of the serias?? i would love to get them at the libary...........

  • Yes, she's singing about books. Sounds like it's from the end of the Arrows trilogy, with Queen Selenay singing about Herald Kris and Queen's Own Herald Talia.

  • hummm, Mercedes songs tend to have a common them. is she singing bout a book? (and if so GET ME A COPY!)

  • What characters is this song about?

  • @Kunoichi713 I'm guessing it's Selanay, talking about what Harndorn did to Talia. (spelling might be wrong. It's been a while since I read the books. Arrow's Fall would be the book.

  • @Kunoichi713 its queen Selenay singing about Hulda and Ancar, and how they killed Kris, tortured Talia and planned to force Elspeth to marry

  • the most amzing song i wish i could jump into the battle to help them.. Blessed Be )O(

  • Amazing, snuff said

  • bloody awesome song, but ,which series of book's does this belong with ?

  • @ColWulff it is the arrows series (arrows of the queen, arrows flight and arrows fall) this song is specifically from arrows fall

  • @TheEdcognito Black, then White, then Silver. Think of it this way: black+white=grey, or silver.

  • Really, coldnt you have put up something different for the images?????? They do NOT fit the mood of the song at all

  • @flamegirl848 if you read the book this song was from it would make sence

  • @slippybladde the funny thing is, I have read the books, I can understand some of the images but not others

  • They need more clothes but the song is cool

  • I think it's the "Winds" trilogy. Winds of Change, Fate and Fury.

  • Let me go check my book-case.

  • Where can I get the music? I've been a fan of her books since 1992.

  • Isn't it suppose to be thay instead of you

  • I want to put the series this is from on my xmas list... What are the book in this series? In order? Please?!

    Blessings and Love.

    <3

  • @AnnabellaChase This is Mercedes Lackey's series "Valdemar", mostly referring to the trilogy starting with "Arrows of the Queen", then "Arrow's Flight" and "Arrow's Fall". A complete list can be found on her website or wikipedia.

  • @abeoumbra Really it starts with the "Gryphon" series. Black, Silver and White Gryphon.... dam... Now I've gotta go re-read them.....

  • @TheEdcognito Oh, I know - I was referring to what books of the series the song refers to....:)

  • @abeoumbra I'm reasonably certain that this belongs to the Arrows of the Queen trilogy -- specifically, the battle in Arrow's Fall. There is some ambiguity, but various details point that way -- wanting to 'call the fires' herself (the firestarting gift plays a strong role), and his lies 'revealed to them *this* day' (in later books, Ancar's perfidy is established; it's in Fall that the establishing is done, hence present rather than past tense)

  • @Rilbur That was my point, yes...? (was this message meant for TheEdcognito?)

  • @abeoumbra Probably. Teach me to post right before bedtime.

  • i know this song bye heart i sometimes sing this in p.e for some reson it gives me more energy but my class mates are creep out by me lol

  • I'm Hellenic Pagan and someone made an offhand comment today about Hades that kind of stung. Thanks for posting this song, it's wonderful in its own right and right now it's nice to hear a song with the word 'gods' in it.

  • Read the books almost 10 years ago and immediately loved them. Always wanted to hear her songs put to music. This is the first I"ve heard and I know I will listen to the rest I can find.

  • I love the Books, I love the music. I wold hate the video! Lol.

  • This is my neighbor and I's theme song... lol

What I wouldn't give to just chuck a freaking rock through his window but I know that wouldn't be the right way to go about it. I must control my anger towards him and wisely plot his downfall instead. >:]

  • @doggieyo Yes... you must TP his house! LOL

  • @ColdRiceBall Yes! *arms self with TP and plays epic battle music while sneaking into his yard*

  • @doggieyo lol I wish you could give an update on how that's going ;)

  • i wish this had a love button and not just a like button..

  • have to say this is a beautiful voice that entices me to listen to more! *i am a bad romantic sorry* but the voice reminds me of what Celtic music should sound like. you and heather dale should get together imho.

  • @ WarriorHawkSpirit & wolfriedinus:oops.I was bad,sorry guys;I didn't read on myself.I'm sorry-but the questions stiil stand.Help,anyone?

  • When I first heard this song, I was like, "So, it's a king who is warring with an usurper who had tortured the princess?" But now I know what it's REALLY about, I like it even more :D

  • how do you call this type of music?

  • @TheOneDiva19 You call it only after much meditation and debate...songs of power are never called lightly.

  • @TheOneDiva19 It's called filk (folk songs from imaginary worlds, like sagas or books)

  • @TheOneDiva19 Folk, or maybe filk (look it up).

  • I'm guessing this is part of the Xena Warrior Princess mythology?

  • @phonixasz Nope. You could not be more wrong. It is Selenays song from the Arrows of the Queen Trilogy from Mercedes Lackeys Heralds of Valdemar series.

  • Cont. from last post: Evidence:Goldwing died and if she was human i think Diviara would`ve chosen her as his Herald. And Div is mad at the Network for killing Goldwing The song says:``The priests all say i must not hate but i will not pretend,i saw the wreck you made of her,my Herald and my friend. The scars u left in flesh and soul will be so slow to fade,oh,would i had ur coward heart beneath my naked blade!``So Diviara apparently saw his wife dead and wants revenge.I can imagine that. You?

  • @WarriorHawkSpirit ok perhaps i'm totally reading your post wrong, but this song has nothing to do with anyone named "Diviara". Its about what happened to Heralds Talia and Kris from Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar tales, and how Queen Seleney wants to hurt the one that did it.

  • @wolffriendinus You are reading it wrong. Check out the devourer saga in battleon.com. Divi is a necromancer. The most powerful necromancer, and probably he was Zorbak the ebil moglins teacher. LOL. I have read the books about the stuff u talked about they were great! Btw i see you have to learn a lot about sibook hybridization. (site-book) Adventurequest+Valdemar tales= Mai comment. Goodluck on battleon, mah boi. I would give u tips on how to pwn that stoopid necronomoron reader, but im lazy.

  • @WarriorHawkSpirit lol ok that makes more sense, and I have my lazy moments too. For example, I didn't hit the button to read ALL the comments, so I only saw the last part of what you said lol.

  • @wolffriendinus Maybe u could lift ur bioluminescent bum & be less lazy? Oh, i gotta do tht too. Lets make tht our new years resolution or something.Imagine a Diviara Nyan Cat....then we`d all find out his big secret-he reanimates pastries! As a result of studying necromancy, he made a big cardboard copy of the Necronomicon, shoved himself inside it,got a buttrainbow and flew into space where he slit his wrists and died of blood loss leaving his wife & child to cry for him. Sadistic but still lol.

  • @wolffriendinus YES! YOU know. Not that there's anything wrong with linking it to something else that they enjoy, but that's not where it originated,as we both know.I LIKE this,I've READ Misty Lackey's songs but have never heard them sung.Do you know who's singing it?I know several people have recorded her songs,Leslie Fish among them, but it's been so long since I've HEARD Leslie Fish that I wouldn't know the voice if I heard it!

  • This song makes me thing of Diviara from warpforce even though ive read the series 100 times i feel so guilty sorry ms lackey! Because the Network killed his wife and almost killed his son and yes he wants vengeance. But yes total series deja vu. more Diviara deja vu though.as i said sorry ms lackey!

  • I love this song and I have read the books too:)

  • what series is this from?

  • what dook series is this?

  • This would be from "Arrows fall" am I right?

  • Gods, this song is alway in my head. lol I love it!!!!

  • @AnnabellaChase Her closest companion and advisor was tortured by the enemy king and other men at his command.

  • @AnnabellaChase As is said in the song.. she is speaking about how he betrayed their ancient alliance. They acted like they wanted to renew their alliance by marrying him and her daughter. However, it was a trick and he intended to lure her to the border, capture her and force her to turn over control of the country to him. As to the "wreck".. she sent her best friend and another Herald to meet with them.. he killed one herald and horribly tortured the Queen's Own.

  • @PyreCurse :) Thanks. I love this song so much. I can't wait to get them!!!

    <3

  • @PyreCurse Not to mention killing his own father and all his loyal men. . . Which cost him the first battle. Ancar was a bad unintentional copy of Kiyamvir Ma’ar, Mage of Black Fire, who makes Voldemort/Riddle, the Wind of Death/Waste of Breath, look like Hriskis from Avernum 5.

  • @ARP7777777 Fair enough.. but I didn't want to spoil the story too much :P

  • i Love this song.. and the books the songs are based on are great too.

  • Wow is this Herald Dirk or someone else singing? From the emotion in it I would guess that its supposed to be Dirk. Kris was his best friend and Talia his life bonded

  • @tifa1904 Selenay, tifa. It could only be Selenay who sings Battle Dawn.

  • i think the hottest chik pic was @1:18

  • where can i get the album this on?

  • Where did you get the pictures for this video?

  • Actually its Selaney Singing (the queen) about Herald Kris and Talia which talia is the Queens own.. Shes singing about how they killed Kris and tortured Talia and she is also singing about Revenge and the impending War on Ancar who is the one who killed kris and tortured Talia..

  • Every time I hear this I want to ride down from the hills and drive the crossed serpents from Albion, send the southern foriegners back to the filthy cities beneath Great Gaul. If only the three tribes would come together as a force united under a single banner we could restore the land to its former glory.

  • wat herald mean?

  • @kari2564

in old times a herald worked for a king, it was his job to know a lot about the nobles in the contry (like the fancy designs on a shield, a herald knew what they ment), he is the one you see in old movies standing by the door yelling something like: baron of "something" with wife ? and daughters ? and ?. ... bla. bla.

in this storie heralds means a lot more:

  • @kari2564once there was a good king, and he wondered if his son (and his son and his son ... ) would also be good kings. he prayd to every good he ever heard of, to make sure thatr the person on the throne (in the future)would be GOOD. the next day three (magically, fantastic, pure white) horses (called companians) met him, one of them looked him in the eyes and they became best/closest frinds ever. the kings son and the kings best friend (who at that time was a "normal" herald)

  • @kari2564 became friends with the other two horses. the king made a law that said that a king (or queen) had to be "chosen" by one of theese hoses. and since there can only be one king and one heir to the throne, other people who was "chosen" was calles heralds (after the king's best friend). the companiens only choose honerble, kind, just and ... people.

  • Lol i thought she said Nigger hound xD 2:19

  • @BIGTOAST75 HAHA i now think that every time i listen XD

  • hey have you ever read the book called Ghost by the writer named John Ringo? read it some time

  • @FalseFaith1 oh man thats where i heard about this song good book

  • I may be a special kind of nerd but when I hear this song I think of Anastarian and Sylvanas. This would have to take place while Arthas was still marching threw Qual'thalas and right after Sylvanas was raised as a banshee. Anastarian being the one singing the song, of course, and not knowing he was about to die as well.

  • what is her first book i wold like to read it so please someone tell me

  • @1vampirekiss the first book in the series or her first ever book?

  • @whitemoonwolf13 both actually please tell me

  • @1vampirekiss first book in the series is the black gryphon and takes place some 2000-3000 yrs before the founding of valdemar and the first book she wrote was called swordsworn, written in 1986 and published in sword and sorceress III, a fanzine i think. its a short story and you can find it in oathblood.

  • @whitemoonwolf13 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

  • @1vampirekiss no problem! i hope you enjoy them!

  • Who sings this? She's amazing...

  • @FallenOne87 Mercedes Lackey, I believe. -points to title-

  • Comment removed

  • @nonjaxninja Mercedes Lackey is an author. This is a song written by her, about one of her characters. I've only read Exile's Honor and Exile's Valor so far. I think it would be amazing if it were her singing. But I some how doubt it is...

  • @FallenOne87 Ah. It really was just a guess. :3

    I actually had no idea.

    xD

    Derpity derpenson.

  • @FallenOne87 This song was performed by a lovely artist named Shandeen O'Neil. She recorded this many years ago. If you liked this one you will also love "Cost of the Crown". They are the only two she did for Mercedes Lackey. I am not sure what she is doing currently but she did have a group called Falls Road.

  • @MsJackle99 Thanks a lot ^_^

  • neato -

  • i think so it would make a good movie also ... this song isnt about kerrowyn its about talia and its selenay who is singing it when they first go to war with ancar.

  • i think so it would make a good movie also ...

  • On the subject of half nude chainmail bikini style fantasy art; I find the pics used for this vid 'kind of' weird (massive understatement). Given that the character that the song is written for is blonde, and always dressed in white..... and instead we have the vampire-esque 'queen of the damned' pics >.>

  • does anyone know who sings this song and if there are any live works she does relating to this

  • Amazing! I had read all the lyrics of the songs along with the books--but this one had never interested me. Yet hearing it sung--wow! one of the best, and most expressive by far

  • reminds me of how i feel towards my ex fiancee

  • its a very expressive song....i personally loved it.

  • Oh my god.... I LOVE IT!!! :D

  • this sound liek a norwegian kind of singing calles "stev" love the song :)

  • different tune, pretty cool

  • i absulutly love this song it is one of my fav songs ever

  • Does anyone know of any other songs that are similar to this one? I've really started to get into this kind of music, especially this one.

  • @sonraditz At Firebird Arts and Music. This type of music is called filk.

  • @janinenoe I thought it was only called a filk if it used an existing tune?

BTW, do you know anything about what caused the split between Firebird and Alexander? Because thus far, I've been unable to track that down.

  • @Tharkun Filk is any music based on fiction and no, I don't know anything about the split.

  • @sonraditz check out "Cost of the Crown" it is also sung by Shandeen O'Neil. Heather Alexander and Lisa Thiel are two other artists who have similar music.

  • oh man - i've the lyrics Ms. Lackey includes for YEARS - but i didn't realize how PERFECT they were!

  • amazing i love this song its so beautiful

  • F.Y.I- mercedes lackey isnt the one singing this: it's shandeen o niell. The same singer that covers The Cost of the Crown

  • @MissAccused Corect , she wrote the song

  • any1 read the legend books by david gemmell now if they were done right they would be classics

  • @gr00v1nburg3 I have. I follow the Code to the letter.

  • @Phantomsbreath

    What is the Code?

  • @madihwa Never violate a woman, nor harm a child. Do not lie, cheat or steal. These things are for lesser men. Protect the weak against the evil strong. And never allow thoughts of gain to lead you into the pursuit of evil.

  • @Phantomsbreath

Thank you. It would be a wonderful thing if people would follow that Code, wouldn't it? I am glad to hear that you do.

  • @madihwa To the letter. As well as following Odin's ways.

  • @Phantomsbreath

Okay and the obvious question here is (although the name does sound kind of familiar), what are Odin's ways? Also, who is Odin?

  • Thats who Odin is, and his ways.

  • @madihwa Odin is the chief god in the North Germanic tradition. Also appears in Norse Mythology, as the Ruler of Asgard... Just Wiki it.

  • sparhawk would go mental and im pretty sure so would aphreal

  • nice I've wanted to hear this since I read the series years ago

  • Oh my WORD! This song is AWESOME!

  • Question....What does this song have to do with Witch craft?

  • why does it need to?

  • It doesn't......Just seems as if the video is portraying it that way. I was just curious as to the possible origins of the music that I wasn't aware of.....

    Just curiosity.

  • @Twisteddreamer78

The origins of the music are from Mercedes Lackeys books, a series placed in a land called Valdemar. It begins with Arrows of the Queen. It's a wonderful series! This song & others like it can be bought at Firebird Arts & Music.

  • @Twisteddreamer78 The song reminds of the stories of Boudica, a tribal queen in Britain. Not real familiar about her, but know she practiced pagan religion.

  • @Twisteddreamer78 not really. It's based off of a series that Mercedes Lackey wrote. although, she has some songs that are loosely based on the craft. look up "draw the circle" thats a good one.

  • @Twisteddreamer78

This song has nothing to do with Witch craft. This was the aftermath of the Queen's Chosen (first adviser) being kidnapped & tortured by the bad guys. The Queen was upset. This was the song as she goes to battle, although actually I don't remember her ever singing a song like this as she went to battle. Still; it would have been understandable & appropriate.

  • I know it isn't Heather Alexander. I am pretty sure its Meg Davis.

  • @knittingmoose It's Shandeen O'Neill

  • Does Mercedes Lackey sings this song herself or is this another singer? Heather Alexander perhaps?

  • mercedes lackey writes songs.

  • Uber epic song! But then i've read all the books...Lackey is an Ah-Maze-Ing author and lyricist.

  • Mercedes is an amazing author, and this is a BEAUTIFUL song.

  • i love the song but the picks don't relate to the story seliney is a blond but still i have to say thank you

  • The Queen is singing about her adviser & closer friend, a young woman named Talia, having been tortured & almost killed by King Ancar. And, yes, she is a blond although her daughter, Elspeth, is a brunette.

  • @madihwa May I ask what the name of the story is?

  • @auran5

I'm not certain of the exact book. It's a series. The first part of this particular part of the series (by Mercedes Lackey) starts with Arrows of the Queen, goes to Arrow's Flight, Arrow's Fall & continues with several more books till they finally defeat the bad guys. It's a wonderful series and has many wonderful songs accompanying the books.

  • @madihwa Even better! Now I can look forward to a long story! ^^ thank you~

  • @auran5

You're quite welcome! Always happy to introduce someone to a new series of books. I wish I had that much success with my granddaughters. Sigh! Well, at least they read the Twilight series; so at least they're still reading. Other good authors who have excellent series are Marion Zimmer Bradley, Catherine Asaro, Anne McCaffrey & many others if you're interested. I've been reading for a longggg

time & know lots of books & authors to recommend.

  • @madihwa Arrow's Fall made me cry. Poor Kris!

  • whilst i know that this is set to arrow's fall i can also see sylvanus singing this to arthas

  • actually this isn't elspeth, but the queen who sings this.

  • Perfect summing up of Elspeths feelings after she learned how Talia was treated by King Ancar and his teacher, Hulda.

  • Yeah, you know, even though the queen sang this song; really it should have been Elspeth singing it since she's the one with the magic & she's the one that went after King Ancar.

  • Comment removed

  • mercedes lackey is damn good, It makes me wana sing the whole courus evertime I got the chill wence I listen!!!

  • if anyone has read the elenium, this song basically sums up the feel of the series, pretty cool huh, it would make an exelent tv series(so long as it was done properly and they had decent SFX and graphics artists)

  • I have.... but this song is from Arrow's Fall by Mercedes Lackey.

  • @blaclw93wi3 ... and if Misty keeps creative control over the project

  • @blaclw93wi3 IE fox has no part in it

  • @blaclw93wi3 and yet its a different world, different author and characters that this is about. Lackey usually accomp
