i used light fuel to light mine but it also got hotter and bigger flame. i used my old baseball gloves so i don't get burnt.

u can try adding some water on ur hand or into the ball to cool it down but that also kills the life of the ball. What you can do is get ur hand icey cold first then do it. That or you just need to move it around a lot more
