hi Lou, still F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!! I SAW THEM TWICE THREE YEARS AGO.......MAN OH MAN.......I LITERALLY SHED TEARS. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES AND THE FUN,TOM D. BRICK,NJ. [AT THE SHORE].
Terrific! Obviously, Anthony's voice does not reflect five decades of alcohol and tobacco smoke. This is great. Gotta go, to check the web for the chance of them coming to north Florida. B
About 5 or 6 years ago I was given some free bee tickets to an oldies rock show....and I saw a bunch of old 60's bands perform...some not bad others not so good....Little Anthony and the Imperials were by far the best .... they sounded like it was still 1964...impressive
Totally blows me away how GREAT they still are!! Not everyone can keep it throughout all their years... Another great one was Leon Peels (Lover's Island) .. got to see him live before he died... hit every note and with excellent flair just like these guys too!
*THUD*...WOW America's got some SERIOUS talent!!! I got to see LIttle Anthony back in the early 80's. (still have some fuzzy shots taken on a 110 camera) . It was also a great performance, and has always stuck with me. LA&I were considered "oldies" then, but I tell ya, this is AMAZING!!! There is nothing "old" about this to my way of thinking!!! This is a dyanamic performance of a tour-de-force classic! Beautiful. Thanks so much for posting!!!! This made my week!
Hey Lou...Bill here . Do you know how I can get footage of The Imperials' RRHOF Induction and Press Conference to add to my Imperials video collection? Also the footage with Kenny Vance ?
Yes, Sammy retired in '04....but he will still be inducted with the rest of the group on April 4th. He would HAVE to be . He was was part of the "classic" Imperials lineup... and was on almost ALL of the groups' greatest hits. He probably reTIRED because he was TIRED...while was group was on hiatus...Sammy was touring with the O'JAYS.... 40 years of almost NON-STOP TOURING.. two separate stints with THE IMPERIALS...with a 16yr run with THE OJAYS in the middle. He'll now be a DOUBLE INDUCTEE.
This is a mazing to me. They have not lost anything over the years. They sound awesome. It is amazing.. This is what many grioups should aspire to be. 50 years in the game is no joke, and it truly shows in their performance and stage presence. Congrats to them. Sing on!
Can you imagine starting at 15 or 16 and still sounding like this? Ladies and gentlemen the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would like to induct the incomparable Lilttle Anthony and the Imperials.
50 years later, Little Anthony's still got it! Also to the Imperials: Clarence, Ernest, and Harold. Too bad Sammy Strain is no longer a member of the Imperials (I think he retired, correct me if I'm wrong).
What an absolute pleasure to listen to. A timeless song from one of the most under-appreciated groups to ever stand behind microphones. Little Anthony's voice is astounding !
lol check out the guy on the timpani drums.... hes really gettin down.
