thye have 268 hp which is good but to tell you the truth i think they just have a good trans... thats what gives it such good acceleration times alot of cars with the same amount of hp dont do it this fast maybe 6.8 or 6.5 0-60
The car in this video doesn't have skid control, and it doesn't have throttle override for the brakes. It also has wider-than-stock tires giving better traction. All of this allows for a harder launch and a 0-60 time that's faster than normal. After a few months of stoplight drag racing, 60% the tread on the tires is shredded away, and then the tires spin like crazy when you try to launch hard, making it slower than with stock tires (haha). Back to the tire shop... another $450 to $500... LOL!
this video doesn't prove much. The camry v6 is still slow. It only has 270 hp and if you didn't launch it with brand new tires at 2.5k your 0-60 would be somewhere in the 7 second range. Get this thing in a race with some other comparable cars. How about the new hyundai sonata with the turbo 2.0 liter inline 4 making 280 hp. That'd be a good race!
@drippinblood28 Only problem with Hyundai is they copy too much, and some of there cars are pretty ugly. If you want to throw turbos on then this Camry might get up to 350 hp. I'd rather have a 2003 e55 amg....smoke all you guys with 469 hp. lol

The 3.8 v6 will make 333 hp in 2012 so turbo that and it should make something like 450 horsepower!

I test drove a 2008 Camry SE V6 today, it rocks. It is a sweet car and I plan on getting one this summer. The Altima may be SLIGHLTY faster but it requires premium fuel and is more expensive. Most mechanics who know what they are talking about will tell you that Toyota's & Hondas are the most reliable cars out there and if they do have a problem the parts are easy to get and are not expensive compared to parts for other brands. So Toyota it is!
You know, Ford, and Chrysler both had that problem a while ago too. Also, Chrysler transmissions killed people, Ford cruise control modules ignited, Chevy Impalas spontaneously combusted. I'd rather a 90HP car have a stuck accelerator than be constantly worried about random fires and explosions. Finally, just because 5 cars made by Toyota had this issues, doesn't mean all of them from all year models did. You're a complete idiot.
Hey any wheel hop issues on launch? Mine goes crazy when I try to brake torque the launch. Im getting some coil-overs in the mail and Im hoping that will solve the problem. I bet the 0-60 would be even lower if you could hook harder. Lets be honest here though, FWD sucks and so does this car. My transmission exploded already and the brakes (in stock form) are absolutely unacceptable for a car with these power levels...

How does a sticking gas pedal have anything to do with build quality? Every major manufacturer has had recalls. It's nothing new. It's a safe bet that toyota has had alot fewer than whatever dick-lick, shoddy domestic manufacturer you support.

And the "sticky gas pedal" was a cover up, We did the toyota recalls ourselves at Hertz, They gave us three seperate steps: 1 Remove floormats. 2 Shave gas pedal. 3 Reprogram ECU with a program they sent us. #3 was the most vital one because it was the cars computers that were fucked up not the pedals.

Nissan, kia, honda, I've seen some nasty lookin cars that the airbags didn't go off on.

@1991chevy2500 I've had gas pedals stick on a 1984 Ford LTD (mid size v6) and a 1974 Plymouth Scamp (slant 6). Both times it was due to sticky throttle cables (a thing of the past). Never experienced it on a Toyota (knock wood).

For something as common and as subtle as a Camry... that thing is quick! A lot of sports- hatches and coupes would be left wondering what just smoked them.
This car continues to have ample power past 60mph. I don't know the 1/4 mile time or speed (would be interesting)... but the car has 268HP, only weighs 3,300... and is currently Toyota's fastest vehicle. I have an 2008. Not to mention, it has more rear seat room than BMW 5 series and I got mine will all options except nav for 26,500 + fees. Good car for money I think.
I'm pretty sure the camry still has great power after 5.7 seconds and can reach around, im guestimating 95- 110 in a quarter mile. i have a sienna van that has the same v6 engine and whenever im in the freeway i can accelerate from 60 to 90 in just about 4-5 seconds. so if you apply that to a much lighter camry im sure it will be faster

the acura TSX only weighs 4200 pounds if you have 800 pounds worth of people in it. it's a non-US honda accord, even our bloated accord doesn't weight 4200 pounds
You can get the XLE with a V6 and it's just as quick with a softer ride. I have the 09" Camry Hybrid Limited edition and while it only puts out 187Hp with a CVT, it can do 0-60 in about 7 seconds on a flat road. I had a V6 when the 07's came out but the gas MPG was too bad, I can always floor it and still get 28 MPG or more if i go easy
Most of the people who dont like this car are probably driving around in their civic si's thinking their hot shit because they have v-tec which is only 197hp and the only reason it can under 8 seconds is because it weighs nothing so when the get in a accident and die i will laugh so hard and i could beat them in a race with my jeep grand cherokee overland 0-60 in under 7 seconds. there's always a faster car than yours so, compare the civic to cars in its category... compare yours to the Cayenne Turbo S dude... civics are very reliable and of course you spent less on gas on a civic than on a jeep... maybe thats one of the reasons people like hondas and of course toyotas

I got 6.3 and 6.4 seconds. Anything under 6 seconds is a wrong for a V6 camry. 5 to 6 seconds is M3 acceleration depending on conditions.

I timed it at 6.0 seconds... I know exactly why your saying 5.7 seconds cuz when your floored it allready rolled on for a while later on the arrow on the speedometer went up so take like .2 or .3 seconds more that's your 0-60 my friend Camry timed it at same timing 6.0 secs SE Camry he has a timer

How does a sticking gas pedal have anything to do with build quality? Every major manufacturer has had recalls. It's nothing new. It's a safe bet that toyota has had alot fewer than whatever dick-lick, shoddy domestic manufacturer you support.

@darktranquility83 Uhh no, in the past 2 Years now toyota's had well over 15 seperate recalls, and they've all been pretty serious ones. And the "sticky gas pedal" was a cover up, We did the toyota recalls ourselves at Hertz, They gave us three seperate steps: 1 Remove floormats. 2 Shave gas pedal. 3 Reprogram ECU with a program they sent us. #3 was the most vital one because it was the cars computers that were fucked up not the pedals.

@darktranquility83 You'll be dead soon enough, whether it's from one of the cars many faults, or when you wreck it and none of the airbags deploy, we've had about 3 toyota's out of 15 in the past month that were wrecked that had airbags deploy. And get this, every fucking single domestic car/truck/suv we've had wrecked, the airbags deployed. Don't get me wrong it's not just toyota. Nissan, kia, honda, I've seen some nasty lookin cars that the airbags didn't go off on.

@admiraljimmy Sadly, we had a 98 Nissan Pathfinder totaled not so long ago, Happily, both airbags deployed and no one was seriously hurt,. Just my experience.

@darktranquility83 True... Domestic manufacturers have had recalls... All car companies do. But i don't know to many that have had a gas petal stick except for toyota. Also, the new tundras (a sad excuse for a REAL truck) had drivetrain issues where the rearend lost power(?). So before you start ragging american car companies, do your homework... Douche bag. Or better yet, move to Japan if you like their cars so damn much..

@1991chevy2500 I've had gas pedals stick on a 1984 Ford LTD (mid size v6) and a 1974 Plymouth Scamp (slant 6). Both times it was due to sticky throttle cables (a thing of the past). Never experienced it on a Toyota (knock wood).

Another thing to consider is quarter mile times. 0-60 takes 5.7 seconds but how many people do you know who just race for 5.7 seconds?

This car continues to have ample power past 60mph. I don't know the 1/4 mile time or speed (would be interesting)... but the car has 268HP, only weighs 3,300... and is currently Toyota's fastest vehicle. I have an 2008. Not to mention, it has more rear seat room than BMW 5 series and I got mine will all options except nav for 26,500 + fees. Good car for money I think.

I'm pretty sure the camry still has great power after 5.7 seconds and can reach around, im guestimating 95- 110 in a quarter mile. i have a sienna van that has the same v6 engine and whenever im in the freeway i can accelerate from 60 to 90 in just about 4-5 seconds. so if you apply that to a much lighter camry im sure it will be faster

You can get the XLE with a V6 and it's just as quick with a softer ride. I have the 09" Camry Hybrid Limited edition and while it only puts out 187Hp with a CVT, it can do 0-60 in about 7 seconds on a flat road. I had a V6 when the 07's came out but the gas MPG was too bad, I can always floor it and still get 28 MPG or more if i go easy

Most of the people who dont like this car are probably driving around in their civic si's thinking their hot shit because they have v-tec which is only 197hp and the only reason it can under 8 seconds is because it weighs nothing so when the get in a accident and die i will laugh so hard and i could beat them in a race with my jeep grand cherokee overland 0-60 in under 7 seconds. there's always a faster car than yours so, compare the civic to cars in its category... compare yours to the Cayenne Turbo S dude... civics are very reliable and of course you spent less on gas on a civic than on a jeep... maybe thats one of the reasons people like hondas and of course toyotas
