@MoJoSB Granted I came into the fold during the Piazza years, so I'm a kid of the 1990s and missed the 1986 year entirely--so my Mets experience is Piazza, the Grand Single, the Subway Series, the 9/11 HR, and 2006 for high points--but this sounds sort of cool for a variant...
The orignal is CLASSIC, nothing can touch it, but this is alrright (and hey, they won a couple years after this was introduced...maybe we should bring it back? Though no more hot dogs and green grass at Shea--oh well.)
@EMOTIONALLOGICABLE That's why I was asking if you were kidding, I can't believe you actually thought he was wearing that shirt., and that it isn't a 'shopped photo.
I think this version is superior to the original (but I'm partial b/c I grew up hearing this one). Maybe one day Citi Field will become the new Shea Stadium, and then perhaps we would again hear more of the lyrics on Mets Extra.
ive always loved this version with all the "LETS GO METS" chants i literally get choked up ....i remember hearing it playing at Shea before games i always got fired up!!!!!
@hiresrootbeer1876 Does anyone, anywhere, have a copy of that version? It was the first I heard when I was a kid but Doubleday and Wilpon seemed to retcon it out of existence when they bought the team. You only hear this or the '63 original now.
@exposfan20032000 It's not that bad. I grew up in the '80's, so this is the version I grew up with. Yeah, it has some of those cheesy 80's tunes, but it's always been a nice familiar ring on the radio. But I always loved hearing the '62 version whenever I walked into Shea Stadium.
@111knuckleheadhey ugly boy, is that why you "boast" about how ejaculate
over a NYC fireman doll while watching the collapse footage
on a loop? I hope someone sets you on fire and the fire brigade don't
come. It'll be the one and only time I wouldn't piss on you nibbler032
retarded ginger bastard! p.s "why do you have so many screen names
you little pussy??"

They still play this version on the pregame and postgame on the Mets radio broadcasts.

This version was used during the 1980's along with a video before the mets took the field

David Wright thinks that he's soooooooooo cool with his two index fingers pointed toward the crowd.

@EMOTIONALLOGICABLE That's because he is.

@terracottapie Why is he wearing that goofy shirt?

@EMOTIONALLOGICABLE Wait, are you being serious or trolling?
terracottapie 10 months ago
@terracottapie Isn't this shirt aqua blue and reads MEEM. It looks like he cut the shirt up the middle and is wearing half of it inside out.

@terracottapie maybe it isn't David Wright in the photo. Maybe it's an imposter or his twin brother Darryl.

I enjoy all 3 recorded versions including the 1975 version by Keith Textor and his orchestra which WOR TV used for many years.

did you get this from the thread at MR?
BillyWagner13 1 year ago
They play the 1962 version, actually, I think...
The original IS the best, just because its baseball classic, famous throughout baseball, sort of like "Go Cubs Go."
(Only we can win more than once every century!) :D
But this actually works for the 1980s Mets... because they were both products of the Mets legacy and the 1980s with the good... and the bad...
