Nice run...I miss my car (08). Totally agree with you about the handling, way too much understeer and not enough feedback from the front tires. I keep hoping they will eventually get the formula right. The Jan or Feb C&D had the '11 ISF matching the M3 exactly around Virginia Int'l Raceway and said the steering and suspension was much improved. With BMW like handling the IS would be hard to beat...now if they would just make the engine sound a little more like the LF-A...

@silverISthreefifty, LF-A is intended to run as like Ferrari F50 and Enzo so it's completely different class than the IS-F. IS-F is meant for luxury ride and great performance. LF-A would be the most reliable dependable supercar ever made on this planet earth.

@InfuriatedKIDD, yea depending on what part of region you are at IS350's can be very hard to find.. There are none in my area too. Yep your only option is to look for an used one. Good luck finding the right one.. too many of them used ones have gone through accidents.

This was an old video. At the time I was basically stock with just a JOEZ intake. Had like 1/4 tank of gas and spare removed.

That intake should give you an extra 10 HP and 10 torque...maybe a little more...not bad. I can see how you hit a 13.5 1/4 mile. That was a poor run for that M3 though. That thing should be in the low 13's stock...very similary to the new 335i.

BMW obviously cares more about driving satisfaction than reliability,though their cars are still quite reliable all considering.

having owned TWO, not one, but two E46 M3s ( both manuals ) and now a proud owner of a 2007 IS350, i can tell you they are both great cars with BMW wins hands down on handling..now Lexus does ride better and offers equal amount of straight line performance, though the BMW requires a more skilled manual driver to pull that off..having said all that, i'm still smiling every time i think about the $20k i've saved..

bmw's are unreliable, over priced, and over rated. they're good when new but when the warranty expires your best bet is to trade it for a new one every 3yrs or just get a Lexus. Japanese cars are the best overall--reliability, resale value, fuel economy etc. german cars are good short-term performance cars but with electrical issues lol...Lexus all the way !

I have no idea what planet u came from ...My brothers owne lexus's 430 and 300 sc 2003 and 2003.I had a 1999 740il and now A 2001I.I can tell you aswell as they that these cars are in different classes,the Bmw will outperforms and I have a 28 mile mpg 5400lbs car that does 91mph at 2500 rpm and 106mph at 3000 rpm that both Lexus's cars will not.

people...and Edmonds...have been pulling 4.8's with their stock 335i's. BMW has a lot more than just feel over Lexus, all Lexus has is reliability. And by reliability it just means like 4 less problems per 1000 vehicles

Actually.. I'd say that the only thing that BMW has over lexus is feel. Lexus and BMW are completely different cars, and they try to be. Lexus doesn't try to emulate the sportiness of BMW because they know that most of their buyers want a nice, comfortable, luxurious ride. You're not comparing apples and apples here, you're comparing apples and oranges.

no, we are comparing apples to apples. Lexus designed the IS350 to compete with the 3 Series. They wanted it to be as sporty as the 3. The only thing Lexus has over BMW is luxury. Nevertheless, BMW's still have plenty of luxury and are the better overall car IMO

That is considering the absolute best freak run where the IS350 can run 13.5. By that account, stock M3 on a freak run can do 12.9 bonestock. Then again, on the average M3 is low-13s car.

IS350 is a pretty fast car for a sedan and are capable of running 13.7 seconds stock, but in reality with a proper launch the E46 M3 will completely destroy the IS350 since they are capable of running low-13s stock. Let's not even talk about road course where the M3 truly shines in the corners.
