It is up to us to follow his example and improve the life of others in whatever way we can. Terry Fox will continue to inspire people long after his passing. Thanks Terry!

  • I wish I had the courage and strength that he had. God, please bless people out there like people in Terry's position, show them the way <3 This is just so brilliantly inspiring.

  • Great Canadian hero... and great Canadian story.

  • The part that makes me cry like a baby is when they talk of the memorial in Thunder Bay - "In full stride, heading towards the west, running home".

  • this makes me proud to be canadian

  • 26 miles a day for 4 months straight, with one leg, and tumors in his lungs, Terry Fox is the definition of a legend.

  • Comment removed

  • @ontariobuds The news media here in Vancouver says she does not have cancer, but she is seriously ill and in a hospice in the Fraser Valley. I send my best wishes to her just the same.

  • @GiantsHky the news here in Ontario first said she had but now it seems the story has changed.

  • I feel sad for the 10 people who disliked this video. He is not only the greatest Canadian but maybe one of the most heroic people to ever live...try running a marathon and then tell me if you could ever fathom doing one a day on one leg. ..lose a loved one to the terrible disease and you will really know what "dislike" is.

  • "What we do in life, echoes in eternity".

Respect from a fellow 21 year old young adult. I only hope and pray to become half of the man Terry Fox was.

  • people must just go around disliking youtube videos.. who could actually dislike this ??

  • ITS JUST AMAZING PERSON...JUST AMAZING

  • I just saw the one hour special about Terry Fox on the Canadian channel this morning and I couldn't stop crying. His story is just so epic and inspirational. He's not just a Canadian hero but a hero to the world. That's a massive accomplishment that most people could not even do with two legs. However,he inspires me to become a better person.

  • @sakuralor I'd like to have one tenth of his determination.

  • what kind of people dislike this

    i love u terry

  • Wow Iam going to live life better what a great man ..

  • Shall he be honoured, respected, and remembered for accomplishing something that not all people can do....... He died trying his best to support the cancer research, and that's what counts as being Canada's hero.

  • i love him

  • what kind of sick douche would dislike this video?

  • Could learn from him, I think!...

He really dead? I have not heard that he died!...

  • @Titi3154 The cancer spread to his lungs and that killed him when his marathon was in Ontario

  • @Titi3154 Terry died on Sunday, 28 June 1981. I first learned of my hero the following day.

  • Any time you don't feel like getting up and living life....man ...giving of himself selflessly...

  • Amazing truly amazing I wish I could have the courage 2 be like him

  • Makes me proud to be a Canadian. If I could accomplish 1/100 of what Terry did, I'd die a happy man.

  • To me Terry is the greatest, most noble runner of all times! His achievement is unparalleled.

And yes, I got tears in my eyes every time I watch this video, too.

  • the greatest canadian ever....pure and simple

  • who would dislike this thats just plain stupid

  • @Yogibimsdale they disliked the fact that a canadian legend died

  • @TheErvin900 I hope so. How else could you dislike that video, awesome.

  • Motherfucking hero that's what he is. And there's many, many and they're paritcularly exposed by the media when they belong to the sports category.

Think about Firemen, Policemen, Soldiers, Clerks, Teachers... when you look at mankind NEVER FORGET: There's evil, but there's also a LOT of good.

And just one of these fucking heroes redeems all mankind. WE will survive our self destructive attitude, we will colonize space. The human race will never perish... because of our heroes.

  • God I feel like such a pussy with my daily problems

  • @TAz69x we call them problems, but they are more like inconveniences. I bitch and moan every day but I shouldn't.

  • My college(a med school in Taiwan) holds marathon in the name of Terry Fox annually. This great man will continue to inspire med-school students and be remembered year after year and on.

  • thanks to Steve Nash for keeping Terry's memory alive with the younger people.. for us of Terry's age we will always remember that spirit and determination..

can't think of a bigger hero in my lifetime...

  • great story and great man! did they get the idea for the scenes in forrest gump were he runs across the country from this?

  • Terry is a great man who lived a life worth celebrating for generations.

30 years on and his inspirational efforts are still bearing results. On 23 Jan 2011, there will be a Terry Fox Run to raise funds for cancer research in Singapore.

  • Terry was from my home town Port Coquitlam

  • I can't think of words other than "fucking amazing" to describe this. I have never seen anything like this before

  • Greatest Cdn. probably ever...Makes you feel proud to be Cdn...He would have no doubt finished that run across Canada....who ever "dislikes" this needs a life...We will always remember Terry Fox, and what he did.

  • I wanna know who the fuck clicks "dislike" on this?

    Fucking neanderthals!

  • This guys was truly inspirational. Even 20 years on it's still a very moving story...

It saddens me to read the posts below, I can't believe how ignorant some of you are.

  • No other Canadian has been more inspiriing

  • his mother came to my elementary school before becuase we raised thousands of dollars doing our annual terry fox run!

  • Damn, this story hits too hard for me. Being from Thunder Bay, I can tell you that EVERYone knows about Terry Fox. We teach it to our kids.

  • Probably one of the greatest people in the history of the world.

  • Rest in peace Terry.

You've become a hero and an inspiration to us all.

And for all the people who have disliked this video, you can go shove something hard up your ass. (sorry fornthe fowl language, just wanted to make a point)

  • Wow. Terry Fox was and still is an inspiration to all who know his story. I will forever remember what he has done for not only cancer research, but in showing love to others he did not even know. Thank you, Terry!

  • For a twenty two year old to show that much courage cements Terry as one the Legendary Figures in our time, before Lance Armstrong there was Terry Fox

  • Love Canada! Love Terry!

  • Hats off to this man.terry fox......anthr lanc armstrong......these kinda..people mak u reliease..its ur life..& if u realy wt sm..u cn get t..no matter...wt....a true hero..TERRY FOX

  • His is probably the purest canadian story we will ever see, we will never forget him, in my opinion his story is a national treasure. Terry fox is evidence that god not only gifts individuals but entire nations too, god bless him and all those who have and are suffering

    From cancer.

  • I was six years and living in Ontario when Terry began his run home. His actions not only moved me as a child, but help mold me into the man I am today. A Canadian hero is almost an understatement of what he is. Thank you Terry for teaching the world to simply, never give up and fight for what you believe in. I know I am forever grateful.

  • Another reason for everyone " never give up "

  • Every year my kids school does the "Terry Fox" run. Most if not all the schools in Calgary do the "Terry Fox"run. They learn about his life, his goals, and his accomplishments. They learn to remember his spirit and his drive to help find a cure for Cancer. Each school raises money on behalf of Terry Fox. I remember doing this run in my school in the 80's. Terry Fox is a true Canadian and world hero. God bless you Terry.

  • Most beloved person in Canada Terry fox

    Most hated person Gary bettman

  • Terry u are my hero love u bud

  • Sadly most of the world will never realize what "exactly" Terry did for cancer research not only for Canadians but for the world as a whole. He must be honoured!

  • This guy is a true hero!

  • why are my eyes sweating?

  • @doncromat Hey! I'm American and I watched the 30 for 30 on Terry. I apologize if NBC fucked up his story earlier this year.

  • this video played at my schools assembly.

  • @Aerochalklate All the classes in mines, in fact

  • terry fox was amazing he was so caring and thought about everyone but himself.

  • There's no doubt that Terry was a Canadian hero who must always be remembered, but we Canadians have to make sure we don't let that be our underlining definition of him. Terry was a man of the world. His courage, his message, and his strength were bigger than any one nation.

  • terry is the reason why i will forever be a canadian

  • im 12 and iv been a cancer patient since i was 10 and i thank terry for this. he's the most UNselfish kindest peron in the world and he thought about everyone but himself.

  • I was 10 years old during terry's run, he is still my hero. he represents everything that is great about canada. I tell my 2 children about him and he is a hero of their's. they will be running at their scholl tomorrow in his honour.

  • As the sayings goes from one of my fav movies "The Sandlot" :

"Heroes get remembered, but legends never die" Terry was both. And so much more, words cant describe. As an American I salute you with honors Terry.

  • Terrible that young people especially die at all.

But what a great young man he was

  • Man too bad theres nothing to stop canser :( i hope i dont get it D: or whoever lol

  • poor terry fox go terry fox your the best terry fox

  • This is a great man who died for a good cause

  • If anyone dislikes this they can not call themselves a true canadian or even american. Why did a person like this have to die. I know god always has a plan, but i just dont understand this one.

  • What a beautiful human and a true hero for our children to look to.

  • i love this man. whenever im down or feel hopeless...I look to him. he always reminds me that we can do so much more as humans...and makes me so incredibly proud to be a canadian. we as canadians come from a long line of explorers, pioneers and hockey players - we can do anything.
