I'm 14 and going into the punk scene and trying to learn as much as possible, I did live in Cali until I was 6, then I moved to Indiana, ( really fucking stupid) so now I can't really learn much, can anyone please tell me what is so bad about 'mike bullshit'?
@shakejuntbitches if ur any where near indianapolis ask around for a guy named Clark who ran a small label called 'happy couples never last'. he can show u whats up with the scenen there. he used to hook us up when we would tour through there. shows, place to sleep and eat. awesome guy.
@Richtigify okay first off i AM punk, i go to shows, i perform shows, its the ONLY thing i listen to. I am trying to learn more ABOUT punk, not learn to BE punk, in fact im NOT punk i just fucking listen to it on a constant basis. I would have appreciated a smart and decent answer to my question, but since you are not capable of doing so, im going to have to tell you to shut your little fucking mouth you inbred piece of mother fucking shit.
pollyjane, thats brendan from SFA. that dude was not only always there but he worked there. theres no possible way you could have gone there that much and not seen him.
Thease guys werent even @ anyshow I went to & I WAS @ CB"S FR;75-06 HARLEY OR ERIC OR STEVE POSS WOULDHAVE BEATEN THEM_UP TILL THEY GOT BACK TO L.I. OR N.J. PLEASE DONT THINK THEASE GUYS WHERE PART OF NY HARDCORE
@pollyjayne ...funny stuff. Sorry if you never saw me at CBGB the 23 years I was going there, 18 of which I also worked there. Maybe you should have paid more attention. And I doubt seriously my friends Harley and Steve would have kicked my ass. I guess living in NYC, hanging out since the early 80's, playing in bands, booking shows, etceteras wasn't enough to make me part of the scene if you didn't know me.
@BrendanSFA Brendan why are you even waisting your breath on this wanna b????? Everyone in the scene knows who you are and all you have done for the scene!!! SFA rules bitches!!!!!
@pollyjayne.. pollyjayne, thats brendan from SFA. that dude was not only always there but he worked there. theres no possible way you could have gone there that much and not seen him.
@pollyjayne you're profile says you're 32 yrs old, but you say youve been going to CB's since '75??? i get the feeling you're full of shit. how are you one of the "originals of ny punk"? its bigger than any one person or group.
@pollyjayne hey i guess you were never @ shows or you were just drunk hanging out blowin bums in jones alley - all the guys in this clip are NYHC . hi Brendan crazy george yuppicide crew here lol!!
My band played there in the summer of 1984, (and in 1986), place was PACKED and a madhouse. Good times ! Also on the bill were CFA, adrenalin OD and some others I can't remember.
@TonySlug BGK, right? Saw both those shows you did at CB's, great times. At the '86 one with AOD (and I think Bedlam) my hearing got blown out during your set and my ears were ringing for days afterwards. That sound system at CB's was powerful for a small room.
I started going to shows in 83, and I still play in bands and go to shows, and more. I think the most important thing about the 80s hard core scene is how it was different from 70s punk. The 70s punks were on major labels, it was as much a fashion thing, a "new sound." But the 80s were more political, DIY, straightedge, talking about your lifestyle, not just fashionable self-destruction. I revere Johnny Thunders, but I don't want to be like him. There really was a sense of community in the 80s.
i don´t think HC is dead. in the 80´s the society was more stronger. than the youth came and pissed them in their face!!
the point is that the hate from the society gave the people the energy..sure not only this but in my opinion one big point. today the hate isn´t so huge anymore cause there are so many styles of music that the people don´t care anymore.
but there is any way a good scene. last time freeze with adolescents. maan it was like in the 80´s
died by 84? are you fuckin kidding me,i live in nyc and believe me hardcore is totally not dead.actually a 3 weeks from now 200 hardcore n punk bands are playin a free show here, last your 1,000s of kids came out
People have been bitching about the "scene" being dead since they first realized there was a scene. Gimmie a day to dig around and I'm sure I can find zines from 82 saying the scene was dead by then.
You ain't hxc cus you went to a show in '79, you're hxc cus you're going to a show tomorrow.
How funny...! That's Brendan from SFA...! Hahaha..! It's been years...! We were suppose to play with SFA at the Ridge Street Gallery once and some shit went down and we had to bolt. Our bassist, Bash, knew them really well but I'm going back to like '87 or '89. Funny because our drummer/ bestfriend Jonathan eventually started a NYC punk band called The Krays.
hard to believe these guys grew up and actually became adults. not because they're stupid punx or anything like that, but because the video makes it seem like they were in a world without rules, one where they'd never get older. being in a band on long island, i love that feeling.
That kid became one of NYC's finest I believe and military as well first, saright, saright. And yup Society of Fucking Assholes singer ran the door at Cbgbs well after this video was filmed. Thanks for all these videos Brendan this is some great history! Glad someone preserved some of it.
He's very right, that last kid! I know what he means. Like the quote, 'Real punk is an endangered species.' Everyone knows each other! It's pretty cool honestly , its like We've got our own little world. There are so few punx left, and this being taken in the 80's, I'd think theyd be 'the good ol' days'... and i wasnt even BORN then haha! Its a shame that some of us were born either too late to appreciate/embrace/experience such a revolutionary time in the lifetime of punk and NYHC.
absolutely not the 80s
