Im on a mac, but I used a semi compacted hookup, using iTV to hook my PS3 to my computer, And then I used a screen recorder, Snapz Pro X to capture the footage. And I used iMovie to edit it. If your using a PC, I've heard a dazzle is good, and fraps is good, and whatever editor you want is probably good.
