also, when i start ubuntu in vmware i dont see an "install ubuntu" option on the desktop. which is very weird, because when i installed it on my windows computer, it did show the install option on the desktop.
hey thanks man so much. i now have ubuntu working on vmware, but i want to install it on my partition. how do i do that? i've tried everything. i've spent 6 or 7 hours searching how to do it on the web, but unfortunately. can you please help me out man. thx in advance.
Let me get this strait. If u install ubuntu into vmware fusion u will not hav to devide the hard drive n2 seperate partissions. If that is correct can you do the same thing with windows?
Well, when I was done downloading vmware fusion I mounted the dmg and opened it. But, when I clicked on the install option it told me that the dmg was damaged and it couldn't run the installation. So, I went back to the website and downloaded it and the same problem occurred. If you could help me it would be great. I have an Imac 4th Generation running OSX 10.3.9 Thanks
I'm sorry but I gave you incorrect information. According to the vmware website, you need an intel mac and OSX 10.4.11 or later. That is why you are getting an error, the software is not supported on your current set-up.
awesome!

Are you just using VM as a liason to run Ubuntu? I would rather have it on my computer itself instead of running a program to run linux.

Do you have any lag on your Mac now, do you think 2GB of RAM is good enough?
mistershadoe 3 years ago
When I have vmware running their is some lag and if I used vmware on daily I would upgrade right away to 4gb.
For everything else, 2gb is fine. Ultimately, I will upgrade to 4gb though.
Just keep in mind, don't buy your ram from apple.
