The camera is capturing more or less what would be seen through an eyepiece. Distortion depends on locale, scope and atmospheric conditions. It's a visually very small object moving very fast, so in all but perfect seeing conditions with a excellent scope there will be some degree of distortion like this.
Im not saying the landing was faked.......In fact i am a strong believer that they did land on the moon.....but they could have faked it......I just cant wait to go back!
you know how sometimes you speak before you think...well this time I spoke before I read...haha I re-read the owner's comments about the video and he clearly states how it was done...

nice! that must be hard to keep up through a telescope, considering how fast it passes the sky!

does it look better without a camera? or is the distortion really that bad?

Is the tracking software commercial or does it have to be made?
conrad2468 2 years ago
There are various pieces of software that control motorized mounted scopes. All commercial as far as I know, but there might be freeware stuff.

I 1st thought that for 24 seconds, it's going to be a waste of time to watch.
I watched it and thought, "Now that is freaking cool to actually see the Space Station through a telescope!"
Very cool! You have inspired me to go broke on buying me an even bigger and more expensive telescope than what I was planning on getting! LOL
Thanks Alot! I'll be getting into even more trouble with my girlfriend now! LOL
