Just had to stop by and say, Thanks for the Great Video. I was stationed in Di An Vietnam from '68 through Nov. '69. I was there during TET. I was with the 595 Signal Co. 1st. Signal Brigade. We supported your oufit and the Big Red One. Thanks for the Great video. wish the pictures would have lasted a little longer. Maybe someday, I'll get my pictures out and try to do what you have done. Thanks for your service in Vietnam, Brother.
I was with the 1 Engr. Bn. at Ft. Riley from 1962-1965. I was discharged 4 mos before they shipped to Nam. I was with 3rd Plt.C. company and my Plt. Sgt. was Baxter Carroll who was killed in Nam. I was TDY to main post NCO academy as a trainer my last 6 mos. because I was to short to go to Nam. I still miss some of the guys I served with.
this is a very touching and wonderful treasure that you have shared here. i hope you always have the respect and gratitude you deserve for having served this country as a service to us all.
Thanks for the video response. People need to understand why soldiers are important. I'm GLAD they are remaking RED DAWN because this generation has no idea what will need to be done. Too many people tryin' to steal our little patch of ground and willing to kill us for it, like a loan shark, kill the debtor. If they only could get it - they'd fight. I'm sure they don't want someone taking their iPod.
I was part of the same unit.. 1st Infantry Division 1st Brigade 1st Engineer Battalion Maintenance... i deployed with them back in 2006 to Iraq.. thanks for the video.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting on this video. The pictures in this video are of myself and my friends while serving in Vietnam back in 1967.
It is good to see pictures from a soldier who fought in the Vietnam. I am 19 years old and is also a soldier who may be deploying to Afghanistan. I love this video because it kind of relates to what me and many other young soldiers are about to experience
I was 17 years old when I was sent to Vietnam. Scared to death and didn't have any idea what to expect. I'm the guy wearing the headphones & lying on the cot drinking the booze. 1967-1968. Good luck to you and thank you for your service to this great country.
so you are a legend that was a great song ron my great uncle was in vietnam he got killed just two weeks be for he got to come home for good in 1968 and his name was Cleavland Paterson does that name ring a bell
I'm glad you like this song. I'm in this video. I'm the guy wearing the headphones and lying on the cit drinking. I was 17 years old when I arrived in Vietnam. I don''t know your uncle. It's so sad he had to die over there. I lost a good friend the day before he was suspossed to leave. he was all packed and eveything and died on the eve before from a rocket attack that hit his hooch killing everyone that was in there.
There simply are not enough stars to rate this video!!! Out standing images and the song makes me cry and yet makes me smile also when seeing your devotion to your comrades. A time we all need to remember and again say thank you for serving. God bless you!!!
Joyce; Thank you so much for these kind words you just left on this video. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm also blessed to have you as a freind. Thank you again.
I'm glad you liked American Soldier. This video is of me when I was in Vietnam back in 1967. I'm the guy wearing the headphones and holding the puppy. I'm also pictured lying on the cot drinking.
Ron this was so very touching and that final image there... well ... phew.
Thanks so much for sharing this with me ... means a LOT.
Your singing in this was MARVELOUS and you did a wonderful job setting up this little production video... just beautiful and it really tells quite the story - doesn't it?

I love this song and really appreciated your version of it...5 stars! I also appreciate your service during Vietnam. As a former US Navy sailor, I have great respect for all men and women past and present who serve in the armed forces. It's a tough life but it does have great rewards such as camaraderie that is rarely found outside the military.

It's well done, good singing, great picutures:) I can alomst sense your deep Pride as you sing giving much more alive to Toby Keith's song. I'm Glad that Vietnam Vets feel pride in serving there because despite the opinion of some, it is a good war, it is just that it is something we needed to adapt.
The video is great. I love the slide show of pictures. The singing is good too.
I joined specifically to say, Thanks for what you did in the Vietnam War. I was no where near being thought of then but every soldier that has fought in any war for this country deserves to be thanked for what we they have done. Without you, we wouldn't have what we have. So again, I say Thank you.
Thank You Ron and Linda! Great singing and historic pics!
