OMG i loved this ! french sound so beautiful ! im from finland and this is now one of my fav whole new world version.. first is finnish(because i have used to it since i was a child) then this and then english :)
I speak french i can tell that the tranlation is a litttle off but not trying to mean but if your going to do a song in french you might want to have the CORRECT words
I love Jasmine! She has a really good voice that fits the character well! I think the swedish is the best, but this was really really good!!!! Love from sweden!
I really like their voices in the French version, tres bien :) Can you people do me a favor? Could you please help me? I'm trying to learn French & I'm desperately in need of some help. Merci becoup in advance ;)
I understand canadians who find Karine Costa has a beautiful voice but too young because she has 14 years old when she recorded the song. Jasmine in history will be 16 so it is logical. Paolo Domingo is perfect for the character and had a voice hot and romantic. The fight on youtube is frequently for exemple latino americans and spanish: each of them think that their version is better. All versions have the magic of Disney even if the French are my favorite because I grew up with PEACE!!
Oh believe me, the fight is also between portuguese and brazilian people -.- They're always talking about the accent u.u DUDE, ALL THE VERSIONS ARE GOOD!
sometimes i just wanna say "SHUT UP AND ENJOY!" X3
question: isn't cheveux 'hair' and chefeux (not sure about the spelling) 'horse'? they sound almost identical but i think 'horse' would make more sense than 'hair'.
So have I! It's amazing how different the meaning of a song can be between different languages. I only speak English and a bit (as in a very tiny bit) of French, but I love listening to different languages. I don't know why. Maybe I just like the different sounds.
I really like Jasmine's voice here, about as good as Lea Salonga in the English version.
I've been going around Youtube and looking up Disney songs in other languages because it's so interesting to hear another interpretation of the song even if I don't speak the language
i grew up with all the disney movies in french ( i'm belgian ) and this almost made me cry, the nostalgia that lies in these disney songs... it will always remind me of the awesome times when i was a little child :) what i would give to return to that time... goddammit
@aquatius It's pretty good! Just few mistakes only, and it's normal because it's quite complicated to translate those lyrics, it's all metaphors and hard stuff so good job and don't listen to other stupid people xD
I think jasmine's voice is more pretty and young... but both versions are very great.
Il aurait dû mettre "It's forbidden to still believe in happiness"
@sun1010smile De même que ce n'est pas "I feel like I'm flying" qui veut dire "Je me sens comme si je volais" elle ne dit pas qu'elle vole, elle dit qu'elle se sent légère "I feel so light" pour Je me sens si légère, une qui plus flagrante, ce n'est pas "On the hairs of the world (sur les poils du monde)" mais "On the horses of the world (sur les chevaux du monde)"
@leo02000 Je pense aussi que certaines sont peut-etre pour rendre le texte plus poetique parce que je trouve que "I feel like i'm flying" sonne mieux que "I feel so light".
N'empeche, celle sur "On the hairs of the world" m'a bien amusee :))
(2:05) It isn't "hair" but "horses" and not "Sur les cheveaux du monde" (On the horses [not hairs] of the world) is "Sur les cheveaux du vent" (On the horses of the wind) but very good translation :)
My favourite version of "a whole new world" is the French (European) one, even better than the original English one! But you have to know french to completely appreciate it.. the Lyrics are as magic as the music is.
@HaideRjuna I agree, French is lovely!! I wish I were more fluent in speaking it. I also think when you grow up listening to one version you'll always remain partial to it. For me, this version is beautiful but there is something extra magical about the original version, because that's the one I grew up with. It's probably the same for you and this version.
@HaideRjuna For some reason people believe that the french Jasmine has too high pitched voice. Not my opinion, but I guess I can understand that opinion. As for your statement. I second that.
@sunshineinyoureyes03 I don't know what you mean by aslope but what I mean is that she doesn't hold the note longer than the original does (I feel), like "...it's crystal clear! That now I'm in a whole new world with you (hold note)" "(Aladin) Now I'm in a whole new world with you!" But that's the only place I noticed it. *shrug*
I really like the sining part where she's flying with the birds. She sounds GREAT there (to me). :D
@sunshineinyoureyes03 Oh! The boy has a very calm yet sweet voice throughout the song, but the girl (to me) isn't as consistent. There are times where her voice just POPS, when it's awesomely sweet, and there are others where she breaks off the note. It's a wonderful dub though. I sing it once a month, at least. ^^
French is the best language ever for such romatic songs. italian can be good too but not as much as french. english is neutral, can sound good but not as much as french and italian. and normally german is the worst wen it comes to romatic somgs in general. german is very good though for aggressive songs.
@accoOOOOOOOO I have to disagree. I am fluent in German & English though my native language is Spanish. I love languages in general. I can also understand some Russian, Italian & French. I believe most languages sound pretty once you get accustomed to the sounds. I have heard romantic songs in many languages, and I like them all. But then again, what sounds pretty is very subjective. That's what music and poetry is all about and practically all languages have them.
@martinbeco granted but i agree that as u said everything is subjective....what i said in my comment reflects the general opinion...doesnt mean that everyone agrees with that conclusion, but the majority would probably do. French is agreed to be one of the most, if not the most, romantic langauges on earth due to its soft sounds and flowing rythm...cheers
@accoOOOOOOOO It is all subjective. For example, I don't like the sound of French at all, really. I prefer Italian, English, Arabic, Spanish, and even Chinese over French, but many people will disagree. No harm there. In the end, I always love English the most, no matter what languages I hear. :)
@Hammergunshipping Agree with you it's all subjective each people has his own opinion. I LOVE Japanese/Chinese/Korean language it's sound good for my ears, I like Italian but I HATE Russian, German and I hate English too that's why you can not find on my Ipod any English song.
Personally, I don't like this version. I feel Jasmine sounds too much like a child and not a young woman. I think the French Canadian version is better in terms of lyrics and emotion. :) That's just my opinion though.
Im french and I have to say having seeing it in both french and english..its sounds so much better in french! so much more magic and soft. In general cartoons sounds better in french! cest merveilleux!! vive le francais =)
I'm Portuguese and i love hear people skeaking french, it seems like a langue that sing when talked, but when is sang becames so much less beautiful. Isn't it ?
Jasmine's voice is too sweet, makes her sound too younger, like she is 15 or something, and that made me think bad of Aladdin xD hahaha like he was taking advantage of a little girl LOL
@aquatius first of all thanks for not assaulting me people keep fighting whenever they have different point of view and i'm glad to see that people can disagree without being impolite. My comment was a bit harch though, the voices aren't awful, to my opinion they could have been better and it's not my favorite version. have a nice day

Just thought you might appreciate some constructive criticism :
When they sing "Naviguons dans le temps.......et vivons ce reve...."
The correct translation is "LET'S navigate....." and " LET'S live...."
(In french, if a verb ends with "ons" WITHOUT "nous" in front of it, it means "let's.."
e.g: "Nous organisons"="We (are) organise(ing)" BUT "Organisons"="Let's organise!"
Hope that helps! :-)

This version is better than the English. The French Aladdin can actually hold a note.

RNB6190 1 year ago
RNB6190 1 year ago
MissElectrika 1 year ago
@MissElectrika Merci! =]

The girl's voice in this kinda annoys me... too munchkin-sounding for my liking. But overall, a great song :]

Jasmine's voice is too sweet, makes her sound too younger, like she is 15 or something, and that made me think bad of Aladdin xD hahaha like he was taking advantage of a little girl LOL
StephiGereRothThyne 1 year ago 3
@StephiGereRothThyne well in the movie jasmine is 16 and aladdin is like 17 or 18, is that so bad?

@animls4ever I think it's supposed to be "JE L'AIME" (as in I love *this*). Because "Je t'aime" means I love *you*.

Jasmine : C'est sans danger ?
Aladdin : Oui, vous avez confiance en moi ?

@aquatius first of all thanks for not assaulting me people keep fighting whenever they have different point of view and i'm glad to see that people can disagree without being impolite. My comment was a bit harch though, the voices aren't awful, to my opinion they could have been better and it's not my favorite version. have a nice day
