The presence of dobsonfly is an environmental indicator that you live in an area that is highly irradiated ...
Wait, just kidding. Correction: the dobsonfly is an environmental indicator that your home is situated in an area free of manmade pollution. The larvae of dobsonfly cannot develop in sick rivers and streams.
We saw 5 of them on a house we were sitting at in New Preston, CT. Looked them up and found that when they're larvae, they bite very hard.... we had been in the river the day before. These things are HUGE.... but fishermen love them...
i found one of those,in the daytime,it was in my backyard,on a branch,i didnt notice it at first, till it was crawling up my shirt sleeve,i almost died of fright,i was like omfg, wtf is that!:0
I've seen one easily 7 inches long..scariest thing ever..It blended in with the branch it was on and i was leaning against it ..until it moved of course
I saw this bug twice. Once on a canoe trip in WV & once in Allentown PA. For years I would try & explain this hideous monster when the subject of bugs would come up! lol I only recently finally found the name of it so I could actually show people & they wouldn't think I was crazy.
Yeah I liven in Allentown, PA and let me tell you. I was outside in the backyard and I felt something on my back and that shit was on the back of my t-shirt.
Luckily NO one was around. You remember that movie Accepted, where their in the mental house for the first time and that dead body falls down and the fat guy screams like a girl.
Hi Broomballwilson, what did you do with d Dobsonfly? Was that fly about 2 inches long? Click on my username, I do have some videos on insects too although I know nothing much about them. Bye.
