This was quite normal worldwide including in the West up until the 20th century, and the men who did this were of much stronger character than those of today. They were not pedophiles, people simply didn't live very long and there was nothing wrong with it. Women bore children very early in life and it was very common for young women to marry as children and consummate the marriage upon reaching puberty.

It happened several times in the 20-th century (e.g., in Russia and Cuba) because the government and its army were totally incompetent. The mujahedin defeated the communist Afghan army because they had lots of support from Muslim and Western countries and because the Soviet Union was bankrupt, so it could not offer much support for the communist Afghan army.

This was quite normal worldwide including in the West up until the 20th century, and the men who did this were of much stronger character than those of today. They were not pedophiles, people simply didn't live very long and there was nothing wrong with it. Women bore children very early in life and it was very common for young women to marry as children and consummate the marriage upon reaching puberty.
