The way I see it, when a band like In Flames or Slipknot tries something new

("A sense of puropse"/"All hope is gone")

and makes like ONE ballad or ONE radiofriendly song, posers decide to call themselfs hardcore fans, and that makes real fans pissed off.

I love when bands stick to their roots like Dark Tranquillity and I love when bands tries new stuff like Slipknot and In Flames (I love all their albums) and don´t think they sold out. But maybe that´s just me.

the way I see it, a band should establish itself, and the stick to what it has established itself as. For instance, Megadeth's newest album sounds somewhat like their older stuff.

I do, however, have a problem with Slipknkot concerning "Snuff". It has virtually no distortion, few drums, and it's pretty repetive. It just is not something I'd expect form Slipknot, given that they had songs like the killing name and psycosocial.
