Yes, I really considered getting a Sprague, it was such a good price both at my school and at the local Life Uniform. Then, I was told the Littmann has awesome acoustics and was a little bit more. I ended up getting the Littmann Master Classic II, spent 95.00 on it, and don't plan on taking it off my neck while in clinical. The thing that attracted me to it the most is that so many EMT's use it with such ease when they're bouncing around the back of the ambulance and its filters out all noise
I would also recommend using a stethoscope cover since the natural oils in your skin can cause crystallization of the tubing over time which can lead to cracking and breaking!! Something helpful I learned in nursing school! I love your videos, you are so enthusiastic. ;)
Hey Heather, thank you so much for taking the time to help us all out. I'm entering my last semester of nursing school and you've definitely helped me make sense of all this crazy and scattered information swirling around in my head. But most of all, I appreciate that you haven't left out us males out here. You really make us feel "included" in this female-driven world. So, keep up the good work. You're doin' great...........
Make sure to clean the tubes with the alcohol wipe or else the tubes will harden right around the area that touches your neck. The tubes will harden then snap!
The side you're calling the "bell" isn't actually the bell. I've got the same one. Out of the box, both sides of the chest piece are a diaphragm. The smaller side is a smaller size diaphragm piece for pediatric patients. The bell piece is in the box. You have to unscrew the pediatric diaphragm and screw on the bell attachment yourself if you need it.
You can tell because the bell is open. The diaphragm piece has a plastic covering -- the diaphragm itself.
Thanks for the video. For those of you still looking for a stethoscope, you can get a Littman classic II SE with your name on it for around $100 from Medisave. They look awesome! =)
Hallo!
Could the bell work for small children if you do not have a pediatric stethoscope?
(also I have heard that you can auscultate fetus with the bell, is that true?)

@thesimplyjackie I unscrewed the bell and diaphragm, put the tape on, and then screwed the ends back on.

You can also carry it on your hip with a stethoscope holder such as the Batclip.

@DVDluvr123 Yes, but I tried using the clip with the dual tube stethoscope that I had and I didn't like it. But it may work great for others.
