  • i think that the best way to play bass drum is with convers all star .(Y)

  • mi max is 230 double bass :D

  • IMPRESSIONANTE!MAAI VISTA INA COSA DELGENERE!!

  • first time playing double pedal...

  • Nice sewing machine

  • awesome control man! :D i can't really see in the video.. do you touch your heels to the heelplates at 170/180?

  • COOL ' *-*

  • very good man heels down is a tough cookie for me i play heels up but the max i can do is 200 bpm but eh practice and dedication will fix that but when i play my fastest i can reach to 210 or 220 if im really pushing it but heels down?! son you came from Croms Mountain didnt u lol

  • @allmetaliswelcome ya it took me a year or more to get to 150-170, 190 heels down is pretty damn good, and in 2 months it seems unlikely. Not to troll on the guy but he also said something about being able to play bleed. If he was meaning 2 months of playing over all that's even more unlikely.

  • Easy, but really effective exercise when you do it right! I'm working on this to...

  • hey bro! great video, dont listen to the haters... your control is very nice! i'm having problems with my right foot.. i cant control it.. i cant pass the 130 134 because it starts going fast like on his own.. =/ some tip?

  • @GoniSierra thanks goni!!..r u left handed? cause it's strange u have problems with the right foot..anyway practice each foot separately: try 8th notes at 120bpm playing

    ||:RRRRLLLL:|| then

    ||:RRRRRRRRLLLLLLLL:|| then

    ||: 12x R + 12x L :|| then

    ||: 16x R + 16x L :||..

play each bar 8 times..it'll take u like 10 min..the important thing is that u should practice at a speed u feel comfortable: if u can't do this exercise at 120, try 110 or slower

  • @KolliasWannabe666 thanks bro, i'll start right away! cheers from Argentina, take care

  • My max double bass speed is only 190, and I play heels down....

  • @FailDrummer 190 heel down is quite fast..try heel up if u want to reach higher speed and power

  • @KolliasWannabe666 Thanks a lot but Im I cant learn heels up dont know why, I started heels down, playing everything, even bleed from meshuggah, and now heels up I cant learn, it fees so not natural, my leg is too heavy for me to lift fast:D

  • @KolliasWannabe666 Actually, heel down would enable you to reach higher speeds because you are utilizing the rebound of the head to create a pendulum between the beater and the head, heel toe uses all the weight of your leg and you waste a lot of energy.

  • @FailDrummer 190 heels down? damn

  • @FailDrummer ONLY 190....

  • @allmetaliswelcome Only 190 because I can never go faster... Im doing 190 for nearly 2 month... or more.

  • @FailDrummer well im doing ONLY 150 for a year....

  • how do you get the "bounce back" on an electronic bass drum? The only thing i could think to do is to tighten the springs. And when i switch to real drums im 10 times better at double bass than on a electric kit.

  • @0220mikey honestly i hate electronic kits..i tried a yamaha a couple of years ago and i was...disgusted...

that's why i can't help you..i can tell u it's quite obvious that on an acoustic kit u're better: about bd, electronic kits are like pads: the rebound sucks..

anyway if it was me, i wouldn't modify the spring tension: it's normal if u feel different if u play an electric kit, but it's a matter of kit..u shouldn't change anything bout the pedal..

  • @KolliasWannabe666 It´s only a pad for practicing

  • One question: you're never supposed to lift your leg off of the pedal, right?

Because I do that and I struggle to maintain a tempo of even 140. Reply ASAP.

  • @BatFuckingCountry right, it's better not to lift your leg off the pedal, but some drummers do it (watch chris adler)..the fact is that if u lift the foot u're definitely using leg motion, and that it's right at a slow tempo at which u're relaxed..in this case it's a choice to gain more power (but definitely no drum teacher would tell u to lift the foot)..surely at higher tempo, when u cannot use leg motion and u change to ankles, u must not lift the foot..

  • i how do you build control at high speeds?

i got the speed but after doing 16 notes for longer periods of time at high speed like 180 bpm i start to lose it

  • @pongopanic I assume that by "lose it", you mean the speed or volume is fluctuating? That's normal.. try playing 16th notes at your top speed with your _hands_ for 5 minutes straight.. You never play 16th notes straight on the snare unless you're practicing, so it's only natural to "lose it". It boils down to practice and repetition, as you know.

  • @pongopanic hi pongo, sorry for made u wait..i totally agee with mikepostdrums: practice is the key to solve any problem..it's normal that u can't play at your top speed for long time..

  • @KolliasWannabe666 Thanks a lot man. I'm struggling to play the intro to "Concealing Fate (part II)" by Tesseract. It's at 150 bpm and i struggled with lifting my feet off the pedals (Iron Cobra's, by the way).

I'm self taught, so no teacher in question.

  • @BatFuckingCountry

It really depends what feels right. If you look at Virgil Donati, he hangs his heels over the sides of the pedals. It's basically all in the toes.

  • @BatFuckingCountry

Some drummers don't even lift their feet and they reach godly speeds (look up George Kollias and Derek Roddy)

i can't heal toe, so i use the slide technique, and i can do some pretty fast double bass with sliding both feet.

  • wanna join my band?

  • nice shoes!

  • what pedals are those ? :)

  • @joeyjordisonfan96 dw 4000, but it's old..i just bought pearl eliminator a few months ago

  • dude that pedal squeaks enuff chain man go direct drive ull increase ur accuracy!!

  • @joshsnyder20000 the Speedking is THE original squeak pedal - hence the name Squeak-king.

  • u have no style watsoever, look at wat ur wearing

  • spray sum oil on those pedals. All I hear is SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK. . . haha

  • @ACompetitiveHalo it's not the pedal

  • FALSE, the metronome is at 85 in 4/4 not in 4/8 = eighteen, shit

  • @overcontrol another one whos math teacher was goofie..

  • Inferno does 290 fuck yeah

  • how many times you do this(weekly) and for how many time you do this practice routine

  • @Battossai3000 i'm not doing this exercise anymore, but i used to do it 5 times a week at least..each time i did it 16x (it took like 20 min, if i remember right)..anyway, this exercise was the conclusion of a 2 hours routine made of techical exercises for both hands and feet..

  • you just played the video 5x faster then it was...

  • @Tipisen123 u mean it's sped up?

  • i can do it :)

  • I kinda want to get one of those bass drum pads that you have so i can practice while watchin movies or whatever but it just seems like a pain in the ass to take my pedals off my set...

  • @zysilveria hahaha in this case i think u chose the wrong instrument to play..i mean, when i go to play with my band (or alone to practice), i have to take the pedal, 3 cymbals, the stool, and few other things (that means like 15 min to put them on the drums every time i change kit)..so i suggest u first to buy this pad and have the patience to move the pedal, and then to do like me: become a singer in the next life so we don't have to move anything but our ass!!

  • this is a pretty good exercise. I tried it today and it felt like i could have done that all day, I just wanted to to hit those 16th notes over and over again :D

  • u fuckin suck

  • @sergeant8041

Read the description you cunt. It says "daily exercise"

    Where's your videos troll bitch?

  • Magico dw 7000

Appena posso vado a vederlo.

  • E-Drumset-.-

    Slooow...i make 500bpm noob

  • che pedale usi?

  • Are those Converse All Stars you're wearing?

  • Can you film this on the side and not the back?

  • Try slide your feet down, and use more of the end of your feet. It requires less travel, and allows you to get more speed :)

Keep up the good work, don't worry about the grifers. :P

  • 2 years to play that? I can play almost 240BPM now SINGLES and I've only played 5 months

  • @sebastianjwalker I doubt it. I wanna see a video.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Okay I'll try to fix one soon.

  • @sebastianjwalker 240 Singles is just 120 Eighths. Work faster on lower speeds. You should be playing Sixteenths at 120 or 140-150.

  • @AldorenXIII No I play 16ths at 240. Just like the double bass part in Morte et Dabo - Asking Alexandria

  • @sebastianjwalker BULL SHIT.

  • @mrabdrum Lol okay

  • @sebastianjwalker You can play 120 bpm 16ths with one foot only after 5 months? If so, then you're probably going to be one of the best drummers....

  • @mrabdrum I guess i have fast feet lol

  • @sebastianjwalker Yup. Now try to play 16th doubles at 240 :D

  • Trying using just your feet, you'll achieve greater bpm.

  • Why not just use one bass drum pedal for one bass drum? Don't say that you need two bass drums, as that is just compensating.

  • BURRO

  • are you just using a normal DP pad for the bass? I have a td 5 set and im afraid ill have to do this in order to get double bass. How did you mount it?

  • ciao

  • Don't listen to the nubs, this is impressive. It's called control.

  • hey dude, how long did it take you to reach this level?great job,btw

  • @pkrishnametal nearly 2 years

  • @KolliasWannabe666 lol 2 years to reach that? wowu must have been unco bro i learnt how to do that in 1 month not even that

  • a whore can move the foot faster during sex..

  • not too impressive...

  • @savior881 obviously this vid is not impressive, i mean i'm playing at 180 and that's only the starting point to play metal, but the aim of this exercise is to play different rhythmic figures as relaxed and as powerful as u can, to develop control and a bit of endurance and speed without "pushing"..anyway, thank u for watching savior

  • @savior881 yea and your drumming vids are great too

  • yo everyone axis dont have chain deal with it

  • CHUCKS!!!

  • are those dw 2000's with iron cobra beaters?

  • @greinerfan1274 it's a dw 4000 with.......stagg beaters.........anyway i saw a dw 2000 in a shop a few days ago..its price is the same of 4000 when i bought it 5 years ago..i didn't try that 2000 but at first sight it seems equal to my old 4000...

  • @KolliasWannabe666 well like i use dw 2000s and they're amazing. i need help building up speed though, and I'm stuck on a cheap electronic set, because the rents hated the volume of the acoustic

  • these are triplets, and not axis pedals.

  • great tecnique

  • yeah,but these are triplets...

  • @noir21b no man..read the description: i use the metronome in cut time, but if u wanna know what i'm doing at 180 that's it: a bar of quarter notes, one of quarter triplets, one of 8ths, one of eigth triplets, one of 16ths and then the same but reverse..

  • HIS CALF MUSCLES!!!!!

  • @halofreak3317 he is practicing for 7 years now

  • @manyjazz 5 man...i wish they were 7..

  • ohhh shit that's fcking hurts..

  • listen to the band called death this is the top of the top for double bass cuz right now you are just not good sorry!!!!!!

  • This is actually legit because he can do that even though he has crap pedals. Most drummers can do like 300 bpm because they are using some axis magic or etc etc

  • 15 people dont like hairy calves and converse

  • How do you get your metronome to change tempos without touching it?

  • @FractureTheBand with the power of thought..no, actually i'm changing the tempo from 2:03 to 2:05

  • This is boring...

  • @steelattack don't watch it then. troll

  • C'mon, look at that user name...

  • @steelattack it's common sense, if you think a video is boring, don't watch it. once again, troll

  • WD40 does wonders for squeaky pedals

  • How long did it take to get your double bass going properly like in the vid?(from the time you got your double pedal to 180 bpm) I can do 170 bpm but raising it to 180 bpm which is about 6% increase of speed seems impossible, did you have the problem also?

  • @Villex93 i bought this double pedal when i started playing and this vid was recorded 2 years and a half after, but i should say that i was practising with pads for a year (before i played drums only and i used dp very little..i mean everyone starts with nirvana and stuff like that hahah)..so it tooks like a year or a bit more..of course everyone has problems trying to push their limit, don't worry: if you keep practising constantly at a speed you're relaxed u'd soon be able to reach 180..

  • @KolliasWannabe666 Ok thanks

  • i can do this with a single petal

  • Nice legs, babe.

  • nice and tight good work man, would be cool if you could watch my video.

  • sexy legs O_o

  • jew

  • We are Bewized

We are an underground band from Greece

    Check us if you will

    Thank you!!

  • SQUEAK....... SQUEAK.........SQUEAK...SQUEAK...SQUEAK..SQUEAK...SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!

  • @GrumpisTheOrc hahaha..the real sound of a single chain old pedal!!

  • @KolliasWannabe666 Hey what technique are you using heels up with legs looks liek it or

  • @Maiden6171 yeah it's heel up..of course when i'm slower i use more legs, but when i'm faster it becomes flatfoot technique (see Roddy)

  • Nice. Metal sounds more good when it becomes more slower but Drum & Bass takes 1 pedel to do the job.

  • gross, dixon pedals?

  • @MackBruce12 no, dw 4002..single chain double shit..

  • pfff ... try to play 32nd notes in that tempo ... that is dificult

  • @PolloXdeth umm..i think this is the most stupid comment i've received considering u just told me to play 16th notes at 340 - 360 bpm..hope u'r joking..

  • When you play, are you lifting your legs from your pelvis area, or is the main movement in your ankles? I guess what I'm asking is, what part of your leg initiates the movement?

  • @NickThePianist the movement i make depends on the speed: in this vid, when i play 8th, 8th triplets and 16ths i lift the whole leg, but when i go faster (16th triplets and 32nd especially) i use more ankle..this vid is quite old, and when i did it i hadn't study ankle motion yet, that means the change of movement is quite natural..of course at the beginning u'd use more leg, but i suggest u to try to move not ur legs and use more ankles when u go fast: u'd be more relaxed while mantaining power

  • i have the stagg pro 1200 double bass pedal, the left pedal keeps sliding forward (on carpet ) when i play.. is there anyway i can stop this..?

  • @CJTAGG1 each pedal has 2 "screws" which point downward: screw them and ur pedal won't go any further..but if u don't want to ruin the carpet i suggest u to do as i did: if u pay attention, in this vid my pedal is put on a carpet made of wood strips (so a material on which it would slide), on this carpet i stuck on "something" to make some thickness and then i covered it with scotch tape (the brown thing in front of the left pedal)..

  • @KolliasWannabe666 ok thank you.

  • @CJTAGG1 or you could do what i did...there this velcro stuff you can by which has an adhesive back. stick the adhesive side to the bottom of the pedal and the other side (velcro) will just stay put on the carpet.

  • @solz101 oh ok thanks !

  • @CJTAGG1 no problemo dude

  • @CJTAGG1 tape the fuck out of it. it helps alot..

  • @sick898 lol !

  • nice, i use axis longboards XD

  • It's really not so fast man!

    try 200 - 300 bpm!

  • It´s okay but nothing special.

  • i can hit 16th notes at 250bpm pretty clean while maintaining my power. so....hurray?

try 32nd notes at 125bpm lol

i think my math is right there :/

  • @RyEBreaD757 congrats!!can u post a vid showing us u really make it?i mean there's lot of people convinced they'r able to play fast only cuz they put the metronome at 3298bpm while they'r beating like furious monkeys and they don't even see they'r not following the metronome..i love death metal, but it created a generation of idiots who think drumming means going "fast-random"..not saying u'r one of them..anyway i'll prefer get over my limits gradually than trying 32nd at whatever-u-want bpm

  • @KolliasWannabe666

lol, yeah i agree, and ill be putting up a video soonish :)

  • @RyEBreaD757 lol, i dont think u can play 16th notes at 250bpm consistently

  • @XvxBadOmenxvX

ok, well youll be one of the first to know after i put up a video :)

  • your language sucks but your technique is good

  • @HamburgerTrain hahaha thanks for both ur compliments (hope i didn't make any mistake hehe)

  • I enjoied watching your exercise. Simple and clean.Nice. ;-)

    Jud4shX

  • who the fuck needs axis pedals for playing 180 bpm 16ths?

  • @sick898 he just wants to reach higher speeds dude :D

  • @Arcturus24 what? did you even read what i said?

  • @sick898 Axis pedals aren't really all that fast compared to, say, a Tama Iron Cobra.

Plus the dude could have just decided to buy them.... nothing wrong with that.

  • @Steve128967 did i even say something about that heh ?

  • @Steve128967 you're right, axis are 10x faster. LOL

  • @xanocide Not really. Despite the fact that Roddy, Kollias and Yeung, etc. all endorse Axis, the problem with a direct drive, REALLY lightweight, all steel pedal with minimal resistance is that (relating foot technique to hands and etc.) if the pedal is so light, it won't have much momentum and will barely do any of the work for you, so you really have to bang out every hit... which will take way more energy.

So really, it actually makes you physically slower in the end.

  • @Steve128967 i partly agree with you, but i think it's mostly a matter of practice (as always): of course at the beginning, due to the things u said, u must make much more attention to every stroke, but once u've developed the proper control (due to the things u said hehe) u can be more relaxed using an AL than another pedal..

  • @Steve128967 ah, but that's where engineering and physics come to play when designing a double pedal. From what I understand an axis pedal is designed to be lightweight, but despite its lightweight it still hits as hard as a heavier pedal with less force from your feet allowing you to reach higher speeds. I guess you can technically say it will take more energy away because you will be playing at a faster speed but i'm not so sure you can say it will make you physically slower.
