This is NOT password protecting a folder, this is adding everything in the folder to an archive and locking that, whats the point, the archive is locked but the folder isnt

And an archive does what its name says, It combines everything into one file that you must extract the files to access them, If I needed to lock a folder to house multiple files that I dont want anyone to read / edit I wouldn't want to extract all my files to edit them, and then archive them again, Its not efficient when you have many or large files

@notfunny333 This is NOT the same thing, Password protecting or Encrypting a Folder would mean that that user has the SOLE ownership and rights to that folder, meaning you would have to enter a password to Access, Write to , Delete or edit the folder in any way, whereas an archive is locked so you cannot access the contents, however the archive can be renamed, or deleted, or moved. Although the contents are secure, the archive itself is not.

@Akralaa I don't know if anyone's helped you with this, but I didn't have that option either. Do you have an option called "7 Zip" on the menu? There's an 'Add to Archive' from there, and you can encrypt the files from there. Then, when you want to see the contents of your file, you can go to the 7 Zip menu and click "Extract to [filename]" and you can unlock and view it... then re-delete the file when you're done. c:

U should use the "Store" compression method when you jsut want to password protect a folder, that way winrar doesn't compress it, just password protects it (alot faster when password protecting big files)

Ok this is not pass word protecting the folder all you are doing is changing it to a .rar file and if it is a large folder (.eg 5gb) it will take a long time to create and almost as long again to recreate the folder. So this is really rather pointless but nice try though mate.
