In 2009, when Rachel Alexandra won the Preakness, Zenyatta was 5 years old, making her ineligible to run in the Preakness. Had she been in there it would have been totally unfair to the others, Rachel included, and you can't turn back a horse's age. Besides Zenyatta beat in infinitely tougher field of males in the Breeders Cup Classic later that year.

Zenyatta is miles better than Azeri, theres no doubt about that. I'm not even a fan of Azeri, I just didn't think she was that relevant. Nobody doubts PE's greatness because she ran down an SA and KD Derby winner in the last 100 yards. Not some Grade 3 horse at best. The Fantasy was in 09', when she was actually racing fit. 12 races in a year will take out a lot in a filly. Of course Zenyatta wouldn't know since she runs 5 races a year with a 60 day spread between each.

Like I said...she was fast but couldnt go distance thats why she was never entered into a race against zen. Goldikova is fast...but you wont see her running any races over a mile.RA was a mile an 1/16 specialist...she couldnt run much more than that.EARLY Speed dont win races...more races are won with horses that come off the pace in the last 2 or 3 furlongs.

In 2009, when Rachel Alexandra won the Preakness, Zenyatta was 5 years old, making her ineligible to run in the Preakness. Had she been in there it would have been totally unfair to the others, Rachel included, and you can't turn back a horse's age. Besides Zenyatta beat in infinitely tougher field of males in the Breeders Cup Classic later that year.

Zenyatta is miles better than Azeri, theres no doubt about that. I'm not even a fan of Azeri, I just didn't think she was that relevant. Nobody doubts PE's greatness because she ran down an SA and KD Derby winner in the last 100 yards. Not some Grade 3 horse at best. The Fantasy was in 09', when she was actually racing fit. 12 races in a year will take out a lot in a filly. Of course Zenyatta wouldn't know since she runs 5 races a year with a 60 day spread between each.

You must not read Bloodhorse...theres an article that compares Zens competition to RA's....Zen beat more G1 horses than RA period...It was RA that faced g2 and g3 males...The only horse that ever beat ZEN was Blame.That was only because she had a very bad trip. Rachel hasnt demolished any g1 fillys...as a matter of fact they kicked her ass.Zardana,Unrivaled Belle<<Zen beat her too. Persistantly dusted RA ass. Zen got beat by a nose.Thats all

@queenluciaa Truth is,Rachel ran great on poly track she ran at Keenland its pro ride.Jess had no excuse not to run her in the BCC. Because he put her in easy spots he knew she could win against shitty male competition and a very tired Preakness field that also ran in the Kentucky derby.Zen WAS entered into the Bedlame stakes and when that happend Jess pulled RA from the race. Jess entered RA in the wood at the last minute.I guess Zen is supposed to be on standby at the airport 4thewood.READMORE

@queenluciaa Jess baught curlin when he was undefeated and ruined him by running him to death.Jess did the same thing to RA by running her into the ground as well.Jess sucks...really..He didnt buy either as a yearling and nurture them The way the Mosses did with giacamo or zenyatta.Jess was never in the same class as the mosses. @queenluciaa RAs fastest time for 1 1/8 is 1:48.87 and thats when she won by 20 lengths. Zens for same distance is 1:46.85. and Zen was playing with the field in that race,it was the Breeders Cup Distaff Ladies classic, 2nd fastest time on record. RA in the mother goose ran 1:46:33 for 1 1/8.Zen at a mile 1/16 ran a 1:40 stakes record.Rachel was a good filly that beat a bunch of crappy males.Rachels wiki page reads like a cliffs note...Zens reads like a novel.Zen beat more G1 horses.PERIOD

@queenluciaa If you took the extra 15 to 20 pounds off Zenyattas back that she HAD to run with in all those filly races shed dust RA at any distance over a mile.RA only ran with 116 compared to Zenyatta carryin over 123 in every race she was in Except the BCC.She won the apple blossom carrying 18 pounds more than her rivals and still ran the distance in less time than RA.Your theroy on speed wins races is pure bullshit when ur talking about a horse that runs off pace.

@queenluciaa RA always ran with low weight apposed to Zen running at top weight and still their times are the same for the distance ran.Take that extra 14 to 18 pounds off Zens back.Put them at 1 1/8 miles and all RA would see is Zens big ass kickin dust in her face down the stretch.Zen won under the toughest weight assignment since 1977 against the Female g1 champion Ginger Punch.Nuff Said.RA ran against shitty males g2 and g3.While Zen was smoking true g1 champions,male and female.

The "perfect girl". Do not discount how special Randy Romero was, he is paying the ultimate price with his health. Who knows how great Go For Wand would have been? Great race, this is why this sport needs to live on.

I wonder what would have happened if she had been raced in the Kentucky Derby I mean she defeated the Kentucky Winner on a track she didn't like, maybe she would have won the Kentucky Derby had she been entered O.o I love this filly so much one of my favorites =D

i honestly believe that no horse earned more than her the horse of the year title "she was by far the horse of the year": it is not easy saying that since my favorite horse is n will always be the son of alydar: Alysheba, who but on some hell of a show in 87 & 88 classics.

maybe the best race of all time, given her determination over a track she really didn't like (at least in a top 5 of Secretariat's Belmont, Alysheba's Derby, Arazi's BC Juvenile, and the last race you cashed a decent one on)

Greatest BC Race of all time. Winning Colors had won the Derby Personal Ensign was so far undefeated and would win here in the final stride to retire undefeated and a champion.
