The front plow is called a V- plow and the side is definitely called a wing. They are used almost everywhere in snow country.

Thanks for clearing that up. I really know next to nothing about heavy equipment, and I am new to this kind of climate. I'm more used to a smaller salt truck with a much smaller front-mount plow, and seeing this monster was quite a surprise.
