Still remember my first day in Ronfaure. Tried to kill a sheep to get some skins for leather gloves and got my ass kicked up down and sideways. x3 Good times.
I ended up going back to FFXI as XIV still needs work and other mmo's are all wow clones. FF-XI has a sence of adventure. The first time you leave the borders of Windhurst area to make the perilous trip to Mhaura to get the ferry..
This brings it all back. I dont know why but no other mmo brings these feelings to me. I feel sad for feeling it but man I wish I could go back to those days, they were just so damn good!
@Raansu Yeah... you have reason men... I returned to ffxi 3 months ago and omg... 700-900 ppl conected only... noone kills gods or farm triggers, noone do dynamis or sea... sometimes I dream when I was with my Drg75... trying to fet AF2, Homam Corazza...
@griec92 Abyssea effectively killed the game with the level cap being raised and killing all the content. I miss the game, but its definitely not the same anymore. Then FFXIV came out and my dreams were crushed even further =(
God, even though I was a hume from Windurst. I found myself going here for some reason. As soon as I stepped in here I didn't want to leave. This music was so freakin' beautiful. I wish Square put as much love in their music now a days as they did then.
Ah love this one vocals sound nice and fit with it. Brings back memorie, I raised my Elvaan here finished my missions to head out to Jeuno and when I cam back to Sandoria I was a badass 60 Drk in full AF and hereing this music walking back to the kingdom and seeing low lvl players in the position I was in not so long before them gave me a sense of growth, I actually plan on returning to this game been having alot of nostalgia with this lately
@crazyman1500 was good time to quit back then lvl cap going to 99 then abyssea came out and ruined the game everything to easy have noobs leaching jobs lvl 30-95 in a day the you always have people not knowing how to play there jobs
I have play WOW and FF... and i miss FF the most in all these games.... i don't want too go back... is hard too quit ..... sometime thank about it make me sad.....
I remember first adventuring in Ronfaure when I started back in '03. Back when I thought that the guards would kill the Orcs chasing me and I died at their feet, back when I was so scared of dying, I let my friend get killed and booked it all the way back to the zone.
This brings back amazing memories.. I remember running out into West Ronfaure the first time. I started as a monk. I might just have to start playing because of this ^_^
So sad...I wanted the same feeling I got from XI with XIV, instead its like SE forgot how to make video games altogether. I wish they would just botch FFXIV and start anew.

Haha, I remember when I first played in this area. Somehow I got assaulted by monsters way higher-levelled than me, and then I was suddenly saved by this lv.50 guy who cast all sorts of buffs on me. I didn't even figure out how to use the chat to thank him by the time he ran off. To this day I haven't seen him again, but he inspired me to help other players who was in the same situation.

Great Song! Had to quit back in 2006 after a great 6 year run! I got so busy and didnt have time to play as much! And the fact that my account got hacked didnt work! Cant wait for 14!
Great Song! I quit back in 2006 after a long 6 year run! I just got to busy and someone hacked my account! Such a shame. What a great game. Cant wait till 14!
Hmm i've never seen so many comments that relate to how I felt about this game so closely. I've never been immersed into some other world like that again. It did get in the way of real life at times.. but the game was incredible.
Nah I don't really plan to play the next FF game. This one was way to immersive. I'm probably going to stick to Aion because of its super casual pvp based style. Though I may just come back to FFXI a few months of the year when I get tired of Aion :)
Agumon5 hehe same here, waiting for Aion to be releaser 25'th of september, but hold your horses. you DO know that SE is releasing FFXIV online next year right? :D gotta dig into that :o
ffxi was my first mmorpg too, it's been an amazing journey. Funky, I joined back in 2003 too, and quit last year.. Hades server (:
I hope they wont shut FFXI down, cos to many ppl wanna play FFXIV. FFXI is so beautiful, and I dont want to loose it, my friends or anyone in there, cos of FFXIV.
Yeah @ Temptationstrikes i feel the same whe ni hear that music. I played that game for a long time too .. 2 1/2 years. i saw nearly everything in that game.. makes me wanna pick it up again .. but i gonna wait for FF XIV itts gonna be awesome i hope......
It's been 3 years since i started FFXI San d'Orian Mithra started out as a WHM and i remember the first time i walked into the ronfaure i just knew i would love this game, of all the friendships i have made i had to leave the server but then i was wondering through the ronfaure and it never felt the same with all my friends around me, so i moved back home to where i started and i always now just sit in the ronfaure to hear this
For me, FFXI, wasn't just a game I played, it was a place I visited. A magnificent experience when i think back to the early times running around Ronfaure. Just beautiful.
I feel the same way. I have played countless MMOs, but my fondest, most sincere memories are from FFXI. Vana'diel is a magical place, which truly makes you lose yourself in your character. I miss it. =(
@Bainrow I remember that first time entering the zone too. When things happened in FFXI, I actually cared. There is no better atmosphere in an MMO, and no better community that I know of. Buying that new sword I didn't know I didn't need because I didn't know better, killing my first rabbit, and dying to my first worm XD It's all so nostalgic. I can't wait to play FFXIV, it seems like it might capture the same feelings and have a strong community as well ^_^
this song makes me feel lame for starting out in Bastok... I remember, all those years ago, when FFXI hadn't been release but this song had... I had the midi version, but I thought "With music like this, this game must make up for FFX-2!" The music from the game is what made me give FFXI a chance after I heard it was going to be an MMO.
this tune is like the enternal melody in my heart the glory the hope the sorrows the fauilures the hopes that we must all overcome pursue on and find your dream now thats what i call a good song and tune
Actually, what u call lame is a piece of a peom/ but i dont suggest ure twisted under educated mind would understand that. BTand i bet ure noob in ffxi
This song song is so beautiful, it reminds me of the old days, as amateur killing rabits in West Ronfaure. the green landscape, the dazzling trees, when the proud night beginds, is just magnificent. Who can ever beat San'D Oria Region? Windy? Bastok, Jeuno or aht Urghan Whitegate? None remains that strong. When you enter, and hear that song, you feel a warmth of welcomeness. I want every FFXI player to feel that, and show that Final Fantasy is way better then WOW.
@KiisuShiite Awesome post!! I'm sure we crossed paths at some point. Your post triggered some heavy nostalgic memories. And this videos music helped tremensously. :D
@KiisuShiite i agree many betrayed and left to wow i cant why i know its everyone to there own but comeon final fantasy had spiritual feel emotion and there is no [ure words that can say how much i feel for tye game ive been opff a lobng time but gonna be returning soon but you mate pointed out a good point well said what servers you on i may bump into
@shadowsofhellx you on one ill remember to say hi im on a few but my main ones ragnarock also in hades i forgot the other think it was carby plus others sh just rembered hades is cerberus now forgot still aint adjusted to the change
I remember the first time I played FFXI, it was also my first MMORPG, I ran around outside San d'Oria, and wondered where this place would lead me to. Meeting other people online and experienced new things was such a great memory.
In the very end of my FFXI career i remember i rode throw Ronfaure just for the music. =)
You were forced to grind and it could take hours to make a decent party and add heavy xp penalties with deleveling to that and you got a frustrating experience
It's a shame because I loved Vana'diel, but was forced to quit because of said constaints :( over 100 hours and I don't think I even got into the story.
why duz this song make me soooo dam emotional????? i wasnt even that connected to ff 11?...... im getting this uncontrolable nostalgiac feelin that i cant put into words... guess that what makes it so great.. hah! : D
Yay! The love letter I wrote to Bruno Sergio Pongetti Goldemberg while listening to the original version got appraised! ^_^ Mew mew! I met him as Filielle (Elvaan Windurst) on Fairy Server 2005-2006 when he was playing as Dragonhunter & Kelly. But Ryden kept harrassing me & him IRL & In-game v.v; Just because he wanted to be with some promiscuous girl online named, Scout >>> Scouttt (Mithra) his original first girlfriend named, Tracy Yung >_> IKKI FTW :p ---Filielle on Kuroganashi's tubeee-thing
This game/song makes me so nostalgic, reminding me of all the friends I've made and how much time I spent on this "second life". I'm hoping to come back someday.
I'm moving back to Texas mainly because of this game. My entire linkshell is wanting me back to stay along with my family. I've been with ClanDragon on the Alexander server for coming on 4 years now. This song right here reminded me of all the early memories I had with the shell and old friends of the linkshell.
theres a reason so many of us come back to watch videos of simply the music off FFXI. Havent played in years, but one of the most memorable games iv ever played.
I miss this game so much! all the final fantasy games are amazing, however this with the added interaction is just mind blowing. I cant play it though because i have to study instead. I cant wait for summer though because i will be playing it then for sure. My friend has my discs to save me messing up. The people you meet, are in a league of their own, by far superior to the likes of WOW. friendships and memories are forged with this game. memories that keep coming back over and over.
Yeah i know what you mean by friendships are forged.. you play with the same people everyday as well in WOW i mean i hit lvl 70 in wow but even my brother layed ffxi and we knew a guy and he got kciked out of his house and my brother drove alllll the way to get him and let him live in his apartment.. now thats a FFXI friendship!
That is what happens when you play lots of MMORPGs for a looooooong time. FFXI Online is good but I prefer WoW or LOTRO. Its my opinion - don't take it too seriously.
I remember waiting for this game along with my brother like two children waiting for december to reach Christmas day. It was our first MMO, and we had no expectations or knowledge of the game beyond Playonline's livefeed. I still remember how immersive Ronfaure felt, along with an accompanying sense of excitement and danger. I still have pictures of finding knight's well, and "discovering" ronfaure's tomb for the first time. I still haven't found such a feeling of wonderment in an MMO since.
yea this game seems to have that effect on people...lol i mean honestly i keep coming back to listen to this music and i am hoping to be playing again Really soon
this is amazing music, i miss this game sooo much, i was unable to pay the fee each month ad got cancelled untill hopefully very soon.... i will be glad to play again, i never go for reference and it is a wonderous game to be sure
First class through it was my journey, second time was to hurry and get a subjob. And every class thereafter I lost the feeling in a sea of anxiety to level. Guess I shouldn't of pitied new people they were probably happier than I was for years...
I think MMO's are always a lot more fun when you have no idea what's going on. Once you get the hang of things, it turns into a 2nd job. Usually it seems "noobs" have more fun then the pros.
Reading that story while listening to this song brought tears to my eyes, Antnyn. I only started playing last December... It sort of felt like that when I began, it took me a couple months to learn about FFXIclopedia. I so wish I had started back then... It must have been amazing! I'll definitely start looking at the game in a new perspective now. :)
Anyways, sorry for the obscene amount of posts lol but this song reminds me of FF11 in its most pure form for me, when the world was still uncharted for alot of people and you couldn't find an answer online, you had to brave the odds and were rewarded in ways I have never felt in another game. Soon the game for me lost its magic because later it was all about being the best or the richest and not about the world or its story. But I find myself thinking about it more now that I hear this song..
This makes you a pioneer! And, what you said is just like how the real-world history is. You find uncultivated land, chart them, and let the world know. You should be proud of the fact that you were a part of the FFXI history!
Also, there will be people who don't know anything about the world. I am one of them because I don't have an account yet, but when I do, I'm going to travel the FFXI world on my own! That will be my New Year Resolution when I get the game, yes!
That's a great story! /cry I remember when I was new to the game too, a level 60 PLD( who looked to me like he was stronger than f**king GOD! XD) ran me all the way from windy to the highlands side zone of the dunes. I spent the next 3-4 weeks thinking I'd be lost in the highlands forever, but i didn't care, all that mattered was that there were bees to be killed! The world really did seem a whole lot bigger back then. But I still enjoy it even to this day. FFXI is truely a one of a kind game.
Anyways it was really late now and everyone was tired, but we wanted the last thing to see before we went to sleep to be Sandoria so after realizing we had maps, I led the way north(being the best in using maps back then:p) and finally after running past a bunch of orcs craving our blood we all zone into this song.. Never felt so awake at 4 in the morning lol! we explore for another 15 minutes before finding the castle gates...
Got bored and decided to explore the world and survive whatever may be beyond our borders at level 10 lol. I remember seeing the highlands for the 1st time, and running like hell from the giant ram(forgot name sorry)then the nightmare of getting lost in the dunes and finding Selbina. Then we stumbled upon the La Theine and felt like we were in another world.. The game felt so huge back in the day, something I missed later on...
Ok this is my long sappy story which only 2 other guys know about but the song actually makes me think about this everytime so I'll share. I started this game when it first came to the US. I began in Bastok with my older brother with dreams of getting rich quick by becoming a miner and finding treasure. That dream faded fast after breaking my 1st pickaxe. Soon after spending weeks in our home town learning the ropes and feeling untouchable after exploring Gustaberg, my brother and a friend......
Every time I hear this song, I just think HOOOOME. Makes me want to go back to FFXI. I miss my red mage/warrior!

The song does sound a lot like esperanto so i think it is it. It's interesting language, few words and it's quite easy to learn.

Reminds me of the outro to Vampire Hunter D a little bit.

Someone said it is written in Esperanto, which was suppose to be some universal language that didn't quite become as universal as English.

I feel the same way. I have played countless MMOs, but my fondest, most sincere memories are from FFXI. Vana'diel is a magical place, which truly makes you lose yourself in your character. I miss it. =(
Cosuin 2 years ago

This song brings back a lot of memories to me.

FFXI wasn't the most accessible game out there
You were forced to grind and it could take hours to make a decent party and add heavy xp penalties with deleveling to that and you got a frustrating experience

I miss this game so much! all the final fantasy games are amazing, however this with the added interaction is just mind blowing. I cant play it though because i have to study instead. I cant wait for summer though because i will be playing it then for sure. My friend has my discs to save me messing up. The people you meet, are in a league of their own, by far superior to the likes of WOW. friendships and memories are forged with this game. memories that keep coming back over and over.
kippert1987 3 years ago 4
Yeah i know what you mean by friendships are forged.. you play with the same people everyday as well in WOW i mean i hit lvl 70 in wow but even my brother layed ffxi and we knew a guy and he got kciked out of his house and my brother drove alllll the way to get him and let him live in his apartment.. now thats a FFXI friendship!
FFXI is better then Eharmony HAHAHAHAHAH

I remember waiting for this game along with my brother like two children waiting for december to reach Christmas day. It was our first MMO, and we had no expectations or knowledge of the game beyond Playonline's livefeed. I still remember how immersive Ronfaure felt, along with an accompanying sense of excitement and danger. I still have pictures of finding knight's well, and "discovering" ronfaure's tomb for the first time. I still haven't found such a feeling of wonderment in an MMO since.

But I find myself thinking about it more now that I hear this song..
antnyn 3 years ago 5
I think it can still be done for the sake of story and exploration.
Just refrain from going online for reference. Like what FF10 said, This is your story.
H536917 3 years ago
I was also thinking...
H536917 3 years ago 2

Never felt so awake at 4 in the morning lol! we explore for another 15 minutes before finding the castle gates...
antnyn 3 years ago 4
Got bored and decided to explore the world and survive whatever may be beyond our borders at level 10 lol. I remember seeing the highlands for the 1st time, and running like hell from the giant ram(forgot name sorry)then the nightmare of getting lost in the dunes and finding Selbina. Then we stumbled upon the La Theine and felt like we were in another world.. The game felt so huge back in the day, something I missed later on...
antnyn 3 years ago 3
Ok this is my long sappy story which only 2 other guys know about but the song actually makes me think about this everytime so I'll share. I started this game when it first came to the US. I began in Bastok with my older brother with dreams of getting rich quick by becoming a miner and finding treasure. That dream faded fast after breaking my 1st pickaxe. Soon after spending weeks in our home town learning the ropes and feeling untouchable after exploring Gustaberg, my brother and a friend......
