I liked how Zangief did the Ultimate Atomic Buster when Vega was greedy and went after his claw and mask. I did that today, I kicked a Vega in the face with Zangief when he tried to walk forward to get his claw.
@AKATSUKIxRobbie Zangief is a cheapass? The guy plays just like Hugo is SF3, he has to be in your face to inflict any real damage and with Vega's range and his low speed, that's not easy. Though both players were skilled, Vega got outplayed, it has nothing with being a "chea ass".

Don't really see why so many people are complaining about Zangief's "Spinning Lariat". I mean if your dumb enough to let Zangief stand over you like Vega finely demonstrated in the video then you deserve every hit you take from it, also for those "smart" enough to stand over Zangief to try and throw or land an overhead deserve to be Ultra'd.

@Cubameriguense no he isnt haha zangief was always after sagat who was always after t hawk, i think vega is around balrog size (who's apparently 6'5) i think u can see all their sizes by holding down certain buttons on player 2 in Street fighter the new challengers. I don't recall him being near sagat's 7'3 mark though.

That and there was some kind of survey in the US and people refused to have a boss character named "Vega". So Japan's Vega became "M.Bison" for the US
Thumbs up to Zangief. Stole some of his combos and went training. turns out those who was previously counterpicking me with Vega, barlog, Cammy, Sagat turns out to be my prey.
with some training Zangief is easily defeating most chars, not just those, the fact is against zangief vega's strategy is too use his specials constantly,(talking mostly about sky high claw and flying barcelona attack) and dash in at times with his slide kick and combo into a scarlet terror
Zangief can always afford much more mistakes than just about any other character in the game. He has the highest stamina and many of his moves have high priority. The speed thing is almost a moot point because his green hand (especially ex version) is fast as fuck. Plus, with the new "short cut" input method in sf4 it's much easier to pull off 720 degree motions (play alpha 3 and you'll notice the difference).
Zangief is a damn near broken character who most scrubs gravitate to (second to ken).
Zangief is not that fast. Sure he can use Banishing Flat to close up distance, but it's usually best to do that when Zangief's opponent is down. Banishing Flat has horrible recovery and opponents actually recover first from non-EX Flats.
Lariats actually have lower priority than a dragonpunch. But the ease of execution (just push three buttons) and its range makes it a very powerful move. You CAN exploit the holes in the Lariat's defenses.
Zangief is by far the lames character in SFIV imo. As someone mentionet be4 the 2:01 thing sucks big time, it's like a panic button that any sundaygamer can use. And his throws.... Hate when he graps them and the animation just skips to the next frame and I say bye bye to almost 4th of my hp.
im freaking scared of fighting zangief. he wasnt such a monster in previous installements,let alone hugo in sf3, now hes got many invincible frames and wider reach, cant compete with him anymore XD
This match is a great example of SF4s balance - notice how the Vega is clearly of a higher skill level in his control and execution of various moves and strategies, while Zangief player knows how to crossup and lariat and everything else is just 'whatever'.
no1 likes to see a gief win... lariet is really imbalanced ESPECCCIIALLLY vs vega who does his high flyin moves... vega was the underdog in terms of char vs char (tier list), gief won.. but ppl like underdogs better
that zangief looked a little weak, even though im still hard pressed against basic zangiefs with my vega. I mess around with zangief as well, and even i know from playing both, vega cant handle the pressure that zangief brings.
You are one of those guys I simply love. This Zangief here is shadow, one of the best Zangief players in the world, and you're calling him weak, just because he had a bad match. Just so you know, he had a couple of matches against Nisepachi and he won most of them.

Jonm29 is correct. Fujin2008 is not quite grasping it. Players like Dan have neither the power, speed, moves, combos, health, etc to compete with characters like Sagat. Thats an extreme example but....a good sagat player will always beat a good akuma/gouken player. Not because Sagat players are ALWAYS elite and other players that dont choose him blow, but because players in that top tier have move which recover well, complement each other and arent as punishable if they make a mistake.

Capcom (US) changed the names around; Balrog's name was M. Bison--the M standing for Mike which meant that his name would've been Mike Bison which sounded too close to a certain popular boxer at the time.
Hence the name switch--Vega became M. Bison, Balrog became Vega and M. Bison became Balrog. Be thankful that they didn't scrap the names altogether in some countries they're known as Boxer, Claw and Dictator.
In the UK Balrog = boxer, Vega stayed as always (Vega the spanish guy with the claw) and M.Bison = The evil dude that psychlone crushers Vandam in the movie.

Tiers do exist and they do have some factor in a match. Saying that tiers don't exist is just being oblivious to the game mechanics. I know what you mean though that some characters can take out higher tier people but that all depends on how the person is playing and who has better skill level. Its like saying that Street Fighter 2 Sagat wasnt overpowered and not top tier. His tiger uppercut took out 1/4 of your health and he can shoot tiger shots in a blink of an eye. Because Capcom of america were scared Mike Tyson would sue them if they had the Boxer called M. Bison so they gave that name to the Dictator, but they felt "Vega" was a weak name for the Boxer so they took the Clawman and swapped his name too.

im freaking scared of fighting zangief. he wasnt such a monster in previous installements,let alone hugo in sf3, now hes got many invincible frames and wider reach, cant compete with him anymore XD

This match is a great example of SF4s balance - notice how the Vega is clearly of a higher skill level in his control and execution of various moves and strategies, while Zangief player knows how to crossup and lariat and everything else is just 'whatever'.

that zangief looked a little weak, even though im still hard pressed against basic zangiefs with my vega. I mess around with zangief as well, and even i know from playing both, vega cant handle the pressure that zangief brings.

You are one of those guys I simply love. This Zangief here is shadow, one of the best Zangief players in the world, and you're calling him weak, just because he had a bad match. Just so you know, he had a couple of matches against Nisepachi and he won most of them.
I am saying this although I am a Vega main. Trust me, that Gief is fucking scary and you probably didn't watch till the end.

Jonm29 is correct. Fujin2008 is not quite grasping it. Players like Dan have neither the power, speed, moves, combos, health, etc to compete with characters like Sagat. Thats an extreme example but....a good sagat player will always beat a good akuma/gouken player. Not because Sagat players are ALWAYS elite and other players that dont choose him blow, but because players in that top tier have move which recover well, complement each other and arent as punishable if they make a mistake.

GG to both players, in any case. They really knew what they were doing and were so evenly matched, I couldn't believe it. Kept me in a nail-biter pose until the very end. XD

Capcom (US) changed the names around; Balrog's name was M. Bison--the M standing for Mike which meant that his name would've been Mike Bison which sounded too close to a certain popular boxer at the time.
Hence the name switch--Vega became M. Bison, Balrog became Vega and M. Bison became Balrog. Be thankful that they didn't scrap the names altogether in some countries they're known as Boxer, Claw and Dictator.

because m. bison sounded dangerously close to mike tyson(mike bison) so the name was changed to balrog and the name m bison didnt fit the ninjitsu bullfighter so his name was switched to vega and the only remaining name was m. bison for the dictator. To make it easier some people made it clearer by giving them generalized names which is why you see some videos with these names.
Vega(claw)
Balrog(boxer)
M.bison(dictator)
This is done for the searchers to avoid confusion

Originally, M.Bison(Vega) was the boss in the older Street Fighter games.
America didn't think Vega was threatening enough so they mixed it up.

Actually what ended up happened was M. Bison was changed to Balrog in America, It was supposed to a reference to Mike Tyson. Vega(jap) became M. Bison(NA).

Tiers do exist and they do have some factor in a match. Saying that tiers don't exist is just being oblivious to the game mechanics. I know what you mean though that some characters can take out higher tier people but that all depends on how the person is playing and who has better skill level. Its like saying that Street Fighter 2 Sagat wasnt overpowered and not top tier. His tiger uppercut took out 1/4 of your health and he can shoot tiger shots in a blink of an eye. He was definitely top tier

Because Capcom of america were scared Mike Tyson would sue them if they had the Boxer called M. Bison so they gave that name to the Dictator, but they felt "Vega" was a weak name for the Boxer so they took the Clawman and swapped his name too.
