  • the 2011 version has been deleted, fix that

  • A Christmas story :D

  • BATMAN RETURNS.

  • I have a sweet spot for the two first "Home Alone" movies because I was a kid when they came out. Worst one, dunno, any hollywoodesque movie about Santa Claus or anything like that...

  • Hate Xmas , but have to watch Xmas Vacation every year.

  • Best: Love Actually (2003)

As the last 5 weeks build up to Christmas, so do 10 love stories that collide with each other. Beautifully told, funny, and heart-warming.

    Worst: Elf (2003)

A human is raised as an Elf. Supposed to be a comedy, I laughed more watching The Final Destination (2009), no lies.

  • Black Christmas (1974)

  • Santas Slay, you cannot beat a demonic santa claus played by former WWF wrestler going round masacring townsfolk!

  • I fucking hate Christmas

  • bad santa !:)

  • Batman Returns, infact I always try for a Burton christmas

  • The best christmas movie ever? DIEHARD! End of discussion and debate!

  • Comment removed

  • GREMLINS!!!

  • I agree, gremlins all the way.

  • Bad Santa is great.

  • "PERFORMANCE you saying theres somthing wrong with my gear" LOL

  • The Great Escape - Well it must be a Christmas movie because it is on every Christmas. Seriously anyone who schedules a war film during the Festive season should be taken out and severely dealt with! 'Miracle on 48th Street' and 'It's A Wonderful Life' are my real joint tops.

  • Best: Eyes Wide Shut

    Worst: Jingle All the Way

  • oh dear kermode, skip the comedy and stick to the film reviews.

  • Got to be National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It's just so nails how stressful it is to have all the family round at Christmas.

  • I always liked National Lampoons Christmas vacation until i watched it last year.

    Its really quite shit.

  • My favourite Christmas film is Jingle All The Way.

"Hey, lady! Wait! I need that Turbo Man!" Genius.

  • 1. The Snowman

    2. Home Alone

    3. Die Hard

every other film serves no xmas purpose to me

But Maybe this is Based on being english and growing up with these films being rammed down our british throats once a year - before vhs died

  • Its never properly Christmas unless I see the Muppets Christmas Carol or Home Alone 2.

Jingle All The Way is a guilty pleasure as well... Schwarzenegger does punch a reindeer afterall.

  • Muppet Christmas Carol every time! One of Caine's finest performances. Who would have thought it would be opposite Kermit.

  • its home alone basically, we all know it.

  • BEST:

    It's a wonderful Life

    WORST:

A Christmas Story, yes that's right. I'm the only American in the world that finds it to be an uncomfortable, poorly acted, poorly written, unpleasant, extremely overrated unfunny film.

  • Well, Scrooge might know a hawk from a handsaw but apart from that there might be some similarities to the dane ;)

I got your point...the impression one gets from the Scrooge out of Dickens' novel may vary. I for myself like the "Cainesian Scrooge" very much. The acting is shakespearean but thats just the thing mr.micklewhite does best.

Since Disney owns the Muppets now...maybe they'll do a muppetversion of Hamlet including Michael Caine in the future.

  • oh and of course National Lampoons

  • Ha Ha... we Jews don't have the worst Christmas movie because we don't have to celebrate it. On the other hand, we've got our own Adam Sandler to produce the worst Hanukkah movies ever ;-)

  • no one saying Gremlins?

  • This is a discussion a friend of mine and I had every year so far...

I love The Muppet Christmas Carol! Michael Caine makes the perfect Scrooge the story works as a whole and even Michael Bay will change his greedy mind when the ghosts of Waldorf and Stadler (Marley and Marley) appear to him! Put it on your wishlist Doc ;)

  • Caine makes the perfect Scrooge because he plays the part as if it were Hamlet.

  • Best - Trading Places. Worst - Scrooged, just for the last ten minutes, sickening.

  • Best:

The Muppet Christmas Carol, Die Hard, and Black Christmas

    Worst:

Jingle All the Way, anything with Tim Allen, and the Black Christmas remake.

  • The grinch would have to be my favourite christmas movie. i can't think what's my worst christmas movie.

  • Best are definitely those that just happen to be at Christmas time - Gremlins, Die Hard etc and the worst are all of those with Santa Claus as a main character, especially that one with Dudley Moore who should have known much better. There should be more films just happening to be at Christmas, Rambo 5 - The Christmas Day Somali Pirate Masacre.

  • Worst Christmas movie ever is definitely Jack Frost.

  • Best:

    Joyeux Noël (2005)

    Worst:

    Reindeer Games (2000)

    Other favourites:

    Scrooged (1988)

    Christmas Vacation (1989)

    It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

  • Muppets Christmas Carol. and Bernard and the Genie.

  • for me Un Conte De Noel, I love it stars Deneuve and always great to watch Mathieu Amalric to name a few, very dark and very funny otherwise its got to A wonderful Life, although if you want heartwarming, and why not for Christmas has to be Harvey for me.

  • Right, he's NOT payed to say that about 3D :P

Best christmas movie: Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase!

Second: Home Alone, third: Home Alone 2.

Yes, you read right. It's all about goofy stuff with some extremely fun scenes! Admit it!

  • Elf!

    SANTAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

  • Gremlins, Muppets Christmas Carol, and A Christmas Story. Least favorite is probably Four Christmases, Christmas With the Cranks is horrible too

  • The Grinch..

  • I hope this is a joke.

  • Best "Whistle Down the Wind" the children sing a carol when they go to visit "Jesus" in the barn.

  • Part of To Live and Die in LA is actually set around Christmas.

  • Lethal Weapon

  • You read my mind with Die Hard and Its a Wonderful Life...apart from them maybe Gremlins?

  • Best is Brazil. Not a lot of the film was actually to do with Christmas though...

  • cant remember if Edward Scissorhands takes place around Christmas if so that. If not home alone 2 for sure.

  • It's a Wonderful Life followed by Die Hard (for best).

    Not sure about least favourite.

  • Home Alone 2.

  • HAHAHA I love how grey Kermode looks in this video whilst talking about Christmas; he's like the spitting image John Major. I thought Christmas Carol was okay; shockingly one of my fav christmas "films" to watch each year is Ross Kemp in a Christmas Carol. How about that!

  • home alone 2 is the best xmas film ever

xmas at the cranks is the worst xmas film ever

  • Home ALone 1 is such a better film than 2. Columbus went crazy in 2, totaly ruined it. The original has that warm feel of christmas, with kevin learning a "good" albeit simple lesson. Also its a hell of a lot of fun., Pesci makes it.

  • This is perfect.

  • Jingle All the Way is an enjoyable christmas movie, Schwarzenegger seems to be on good form in a comedy role. Fred Claus is probably the worst.

  • Who gives a f*** about Christmas Carol.

Modern Warfare 2 is what it's all about right now. 1.23m in 24hrs!

I wanna see you make a video about that.

  • Sex is OVERRATED, Drugs is underrated and Health is way too fucking OVERRATED.

  • all my favorites

    Home Alone 1 & 2

    Muppet's Christmas Carol

and of course The Nightmare Before Christmas

  • INSIDE.

    The recent French horror film.

  • GREMLINS!

There are no bad xmas movies. Its impossible.

Remake Home Alone into a violent slasher pic.

  • They already did. Saw.

  • How do u get Saw from Home Alone?

  • The kid from Home Alone is every bit as sadistic as the Jigsaw Killer. I like to think of Saw as a spiritual sequel.

  • Best: Die Hard, Gremlins.

    Worst: Christmas With The Cranks.

  • The worst Xmas movie is without a doubt 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.'

My personal favourite is Home Alone - a fine blend of family entertainment and over-the-top violence.

  • i can't remember if this was set around christmas time, but ang lee's 'ice storm' is a brillint movie.

  • Trains, planes and automobiles.

    The nightmare before christmas .

  • trains, planes and automobiles is a thanksgiving movie.

  • MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL!!

and groundhog day... i know it's not set a christmas, but by-god i'm british and i like to think it is!

  • nice glasses. Are they new?

  • Die Hard takes place on Christmas therefor, it counts. It is the best Christmas movie.

  • Scrooged, Batman Returns, Die Hard, Gremlins, nightmare before xmas

  • How predictable.

  • Mickey's Christmas Carol has been my favourite Christmas special for just about my whole life.

  • you look so depressed mark!

  • Hostile Hostages

or The Ref as its called in America.

A comedy starring Denis Leary and Kevin Spacey.

I have nice memories of this when I saw it years ago. Spaceys character is similar to the one in American Beauty, although this film is a totally different beast altogether, theres far more black humour anyway. and a pissed santa claus

Not the end of the world (it don't think it has aged as well as I would have hoped) but its sweary christmas fun.

It might be up on youtube actually.

  • Jingle all the Way. It could really go into either best or worst.

  • couldn't agree more

  • @ijustdiditforthelulz

No, just the worst! Brian Levant should be hung, drawn and quarted for his crimes against cinema!

  • Best. The most truthful depiction of what Christmas is about, surely.
