99% of you will probably not even see this... but i just turned 16 and i am trying my best to become a horse. the 26th of december im traveling to the wide open fields of Texas to hopefully learn from the best horses. Being a horse means a lot to me.
I´ve just about started my training. I have just nailed horseshoes to my feet (really hurts) and shaved my hair to a horse mane. It would mean the world to me if you supported me.
Oh and one thoroughbred after finishing the Barrel pattern ran into the fence and every time they built it taller he would still run into it he almost killed her 3 times
Thoroughbreds are stupid horses. No Offense im not trying to have a go at anyone. But some thoroughbreds will Bite you FOR NO REASON at all. My granddad would cross Thoroughbreds and QHs even the best tempered horses ever couldn't get the meaness out of them. I'm literally scared of thoroughbreds

Quarter Horses are the fastest breed of horse in the world, and they are also the best tempered, so I dont see how that if a horse is rambunctious would make him go faster

Yes, according to statistics and hundreds of years of experience with horses, TBs are high strung and QHs may be more well-tempered. Does that mean that that's always going to be true? NO. Just because you had a bad experience with a TB - that means they're all like that? NO. Most of horse's tempers come from nurture, not nature.

I hate horse racing....I mean, they're beautiful animals and I do NOT think it's abuse. Most of them are treated very well in stable. But I've worked with many ex racers, and the track does things to their heads. We've tried to save many of the horses I've worked with, but some we have to put down because they're so messed up in the head. Poor creatures... :( :( :(

i cant tell people enough how much i actually hate racing. i am TOTALLY AGAINST IT! i think it is a waste of such a beautiful horse that should have had a better life rather than people worrying whether the horse was going to win its race or not, they deserve love and caring (not saying they probabaly dont get that) but i just dont think racing is the best way to start a horse life.

@Alice6614 Horses have to have a want to run and race. I've been on the back of a horse who wants to race. When they see another horse in the pasture or on the track running, they find another gear and stopping them is easier said then done. They have to have the drive and want to race. They're not forced to do anything they don't want to do.
@25mtcowboy i only said what i said because my auntie has re trained ex race horses for ages, i have ridden many of them, and if they want to go they will go.. i know that!! but in her years of work she has seen many race horses die from old injuries due to racing (they were serious) , i am NOT saying that all horses get injured and die but its just the odd few who have the bad luck, i really love all horses especially tb's i love them to bits, and i think that racing is a bad start to life.
I think that it's cruel the way the horses are whipped but I know they enjoy racing and jumping, and that is clearly shown. @ShazOvCape You know that the horses actually love to race/run? they are natural runners and very rarely get to go all out and enjoy themselves, do you think the horse would run in a straight line and without any anger if they didn't like it? If it hurt the horse they would stop, buck and try what they can to throw off the jockey (have a look at rodeo, that's what it would look like...)

Recently I took part in a counselling programme for male professional jockeys in the UK.
Many talked of the profound rage felt at their career success being dictated by ‘rides’ under them, & how bizarre and brutal mutilation fantasies constantly plagued their minds. Horses & women were being mentally confused. One even had a poster of his “hero” Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe above his bed.
We issued a report with graphic, clear warnings about this situation, but heard nothing back.

To Everyone, TB are actually really looked after after their racing career. A lot of them go to Old Friends TB retirment home to live the rest of their days. Owners of tb are very careful as to where their champions end up after their racing days. The Quarter Horse Association on the other hand, is pro-slaughter. They breed to make the best and the other 95% are slaughtered. Many TB are protected by the racing tracks and stuff, although some fall into the hands of slaughter houses, alot dont.

Horses are taken from the UK and shipped accross the country (Sometimes from Scotland or Ireland) and into France in massive trucks that are packed full. Horse racing is not cruel. More people die in horse racing that Horses get injured in this sport.

Why was there not an outrider to help that jocky on the second horse? I know it's in Panama at probably a lower level track, but geez. There was plenty of time to have someone ride in and help slow up his horse. Poor guy!!!

I hate horse racing....I mean, they're beautiful animals and I do NOT think it's abuse. Most of them are treated very well in stable. But I've worked with many ex racers, and the track does things to their heads. We've tried to save many of the horses I've worked with, but some we have to put down because they're so messed up in the head. Poor creatures... :( :( :(

@Alice6614 Horses have to have a want to run and race. I've been on the back of a horse who wants to race. When they see another horse in the pasture or on the track running, they find another gear and stopping them is easier said then done. They have to have the drive and want to race. They're not forced to do anything they don't want to do.

I think that it's cruel the way the horses are whipped but I know they enjoy racing and jumping, and that is clearly shown. I'd love to see half the people mocking jockeys try and stay hanging onto a galloping horses neck like that last jockey. I bet you wouldn't last 3 seconds. @ShazOvCape You know that the horses actually love to race/run? they are natural runners and very rarely get to go all out and enjoy themselves, do you think the horse would run in a straight line and without any anger if they didn't like it? If it hurt the horse they would stop, buck and try what they can to throw off the jockey (have a look at rodeo, that's what it would look like...)
tldr - horse racing isn't cruel, it lets the horse do what it was born to do.

Recently I took part in a counselling programme for male professional jockeys in the UK.
Many talked of the profound rage felt at their career success being dictated by ‘rides’ under them, & how bizarre and brutal mutilation fantasies constantly plagued their minds. Horses & women were being mentally confused. One even had a poster of his “hero” Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe above his bed.
We issued a report with graphic, clear warnings about this situation, but heard nothing back.

To Everyone, TB are actually really looked after after their racing career. A lot of them go to Old Friends TB retirment home to live the rest of their days. Owners of tb are very careful as to where their champions end up after their racing days. The Quarter Horse Association on the other hand, is pro-slaughter. They breed to make the best and the other 95% are slaughtered. Many TB are protected by the racing tracks and stuff, although some fall into the hands of slaughter houses, alot dont.

Horses are taken from the UK and shipped accross the country (Sometimes from Scotland or Ireland) and into France in massive trucks that are packed full. Horse racing is not cruel. the thing is that racing IS cruel. some of those horses are so drugged up and way to muscular that their bones snap like a twig with one little mishap. maybe if they had drug tests and kinder jockeys i would appreciate the sport more. also, less people should go at the same time.... is it just an accident that the many horses that dont make the cut are sold to slaughterhouses or to bad owners is it just an accident that so many horses get hurt? theres many more examples... think about it.
