Poor people and other squatters should not build theirs shacks on the flood plains which belong to the rivers. RP is called the doormat for typhoons, so stop cutting the trees to prevent soil erosion. Do not expect the provincial or city or national governments to have funds to help victims because government funds are used to buy votes during elections. What happened in Mindanao is a human tragedy but very predictable. What do you expect will happen if a strong earthquake hits Manila?

The calamity started at about midnight and reached its greatest magnitude about 2 or 3 am. Most people were sound asleep then and those fortunate enough to wake up had been limited to move freely as the darkness is obviously a disadvatage.

Poor people and other squatters should not build theirs shacks on the flood plains which belong to the rivers. RP is called the doormat for typhoons, so stop cutting the trees to prevent soil erosion. Do not expect the provincial or city or national governments to have funds to help victims because government funds are used to buy votes during elections. What happened in Mindanao is a human tragedy but very predictable. What do you expect will happen if a strong earthquake hits Manila?

actually, the reason why so many people perished the flood is because it occurred at night time- like a thief in the night. The calamity started at about midnight and reached its greatest magnitude about 2 or 3 am. Most people were sound asleep then and those fortunate enough to wake up had been limited to move freely as the darkness is obviously a disadvatage.
