he should teach aussie metal drum god Matt Skitz some slow drumming techniques...being from melbourne he probably already has.....i just wonder if he could play a full blast beat at high beats per minute being a traditional style drumstick holder?

@darksorcerermusic I'm sure he could, if he felt like playing nothing but single stroke rolls at high speeds for an entire song... Because, let's be honest - that's all blast beats are. Whether he has the speed or not, I don't know, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't care from things I've heard of him having said in the past.

Ps. I love death metal, so I'm not hating on it :)

i agree...it must be very boring for your stereotypical black or deathmetal drummers.....playng 3-10 minutes of blastbeats and double kicks per song...though its pretty impressive having the stamina to do so...especially the big fellas...Nick barker...and Gene Hoglan....which i also think, the artist in them adds their own flare in their fills and rolls or their complex compositions and tempo/dynamic shifts...i would like to see if those guys could play similar to Virgil at a slowed pace

I suppose I was being a little unfair saying for 'an entire song', I mean I listen to a lot of Nile and George's drumming does diverge quite a lot :)

I guess what I really mean is, I doubt death metal is Virgil's 'thing'.

Whether guys like Nick and Gene can do what Virgil does, I don't really know, but he's certainly in a world of his own with his proficiency

@DavidPartay ...nah i get what ya saying....some tech death have some good shifts in beats...and some older metal bands do play entire songs with only blast and double kick....Niles good though...i think George filled in for The Berzerker when they were touring Europe a few years back....and yeah...i dont see it as a virgil thing...but thats not bad thing....i think that fella kicks ass and has no need to prove such a thing...
