  • I prefer the original because it has more Metal in it

  • @DarkScythe33398 Lol. Not that it matters anymore cause this was three months ago you just proved what i was saying. He wrote 4 or 5 songs on KTA and 2 or 3 on RTL.

  • One does not simply call Cthulhu!

  • 51 people couldn't call Ktulu

  • The violons are magics

  • When i listen this song, i'm like hipnotizing

  • the proof that jason is a great bass player!!!!

  • 5:34 This looks very very very weird.....

  • @MrLookbaby Only to a faggot

  • @SteelShredd then we are two faggots if you understood what i meant dumbass

  • James is a fucking great player

  • Sounds like a james bond theme song :)

  • 50 guys are frightened by Ktulu

  • impeccable!

  • I would like to listen to ORION with an orchestra.

  • I can imagine Mustaine's face when he first listened to this

  • @3bo0odpala I can image Lovecraft's face if he was able to listen to it

  • 5:34 oooo shit, Jason gives James a blowjob?

  • The DISLIKES have been analized by the Ancients

  • too bad the bass isn't like the original =/ but it's still good ^^

  • sounds like hanger 18

  • @gregvok the intro from ktulu and hangar 18 are the same notes.

  • @gregvok no , hangar 18 sounds like this , and dave wrothe both songs -.-

  • jason is muuch more batter than that trujillo shit.....fuck you hand bassist... picking is rule!!!

  • @deannasir cliff was hand bassist so trujillo is more cliff than jason

  • they should have had someone on the timpani for the drum rill at the end, would have been way more dramatic

  • In Mustaine we trust

  • The only thing that bothers me about this video is that Jason doesn't play the hidden bass solos. But otherwise I like it.

  • 48 bands couldnt properly cover The Call of Ktulu S&M.

sorry. i never do that but it popped in my head, i thought it was funny.

  • who the hell is justin beaber?quien es ese mentado justin biber

  • @22bryant actually its justin bieber and hes the guy/girl who ruined music.

  • @SklooshTv

Nah. Music was ruined by virtual sound mixing, megabass, and autotune. :v People like Bieber just proliferate fake music.

  • @BellethielDaugon he doesnt. his producer does.

  • this incites violenc! I want to take a bat to someones head

  • I think this version is better than the original

  • @matimet30 of course, man! you know Rob D - Clubbed to Death? so try to listen eScala - Clubbed to Death. that girls with classic music instruments make the track sounds new, more epic, more sensuous.

    and it's great pleasure!

  • @matimet30 fuck you

  • @matimet30 I agree!

  • @matimet30 Nope, Cliff Burton is in the original.

Cliff is better than Jason Newsted.

The original is better than this version !

  • If Del Toro ever eventually gets around to making that "At The Mountains of Madness" film, this song needs to be in the trailer.

  • Ave Cthulhu!

  • Lars kit has a ride cymbal, cool!

  • @Guggebilen He never uses it! xD

And ride cymbals are really common, eh.

  • classical music is a miracle

    rock music is fabulous

    classical + rock= miraculous

  • oh fucking hell ye!!!!

  • 48 Ppl is listening J.B

  • This is the music that plays during Justin Beiber's worst nightmares. ;)

  • So much better than Hangar 18

  • this is a classic masterpiece

  • This song is way too underated!

  • nie potrafie określić w jaki zachwyt wpadam słuchając tego albumu.. połączenie świetne nie wymagające poprawy

  • Ecstatic !

  • **Cthulhu

  • @JohnMstudios the way metallica spelt it was "Ktulu".

  • @Mofran56 Curses..... :P

  • One of the best intros to a concert. I wasn't sure when I heard they were doing this show, but this hooked me.

  • I wonder if cliff ever imagined metallica's music would ever be co-performed with a symphany!!....He'd be proud

  • @maskedmn cliff actually wanted to do something like this. he was very into classical music. J.S. Bach being one of his favorites.

  • @maskedmn I'm sure hadn't Cliff died, this would have happened much sooner than it did. I believe Metallica did this with Cliff in mind...

  • @Smarpache I completely agree with you. The most successful songs performed in this live are from the Cliff era.

  • epic, can't say more

  • all the credit to dave mustaine he have done all that beautiful song and the rest of the album and kill em all too, i fucking love dave mustaine for all what he did

  • @axisshop He only wrote a little bit of 2 songs on RTL and like 4 or 5 on KEA.Dave is a fuckinng boss but sorry, Not all the credit goes to Dave.

  • @brandonethington Actually, Mechanix (Four Horsemen), Jump In The Fire, Phantom Lord, and Metal Militia are all mostly Dave's riffs. As well, he wrote the original lyrics to Mechanix and Jump In The Fire. James and Lars just fucked up Mechanix when they used it as Four Horsemen, and they changed the lyrics to JITF, and simply reused Phantom Lord and Metal Militia. Also, the producers for KEA told Kirk to start off his solo's just like Dave did on the No Life Til Leather demo.

  • @DarkScythe33398 you left out ride the lightning

  • @DarkScythe33398 phantom lord? dave did not do shit on phantom lord!

  • @dragonfurp Oh? He has credits on Phantom Lord. Wonder why?

  • @11DNA11 he does not have credits on phantom lord! it was cliff burtons song!

  • @dragonfurp Buy Kill 'Em All..

  • @11DNA11 I bough kill' em all years ago

  • @dragonfurp Better read the credits for each song then. Before you make more of an ass of yourself.

  • @DarkScythe33398 who honestly fucking cares whom wrote what song, both bands are fucking great. No Comparison between the two groups IMO. they are both extremely fucking talented and are still making amazing music. MetallicA and MegadetH FTW!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song screams "Dave Mustane"

  • Comment removed

  • omg... Lars! <333!!

  • This should be filmmusic!

  • Somgs like this make me wish Dave didn't get kicked out of Metallica.

  • @jagang31 what does dave has to do with this song?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • @Algolagnia666

He co-wrote it. A lot of people have noticed similarities between the clean parts of this song and Hangar 18 by Megadeth.

However, I think that Cliff Burton had just as much, if not more to do with the song as Mustaine.

  • Lars Ulrich~ hear me say this, "I LOVE YOU!"

  • @7:20 on, most epic thing in the history of epicness

  • They gotta do S&M Part 2 with a lot more stuff from Death magnetic and Kill em all

  • @jco87 hell yea! that would have been amazing!!!

  • Ph´nglui mglw´nafh Cthulhu R´lyeh wgah´nagl fhtagn

  • fuckin boss!!! wish they did orion too....

  • Metal with an Orchestra was Cliff's idea. he would have wanted to see this, to be there. Maybe he was above the crowd, watching and playing to the bass.

  • I'm gonna call ktulu and make him kill 47 people for me

  • Average: 40 from 4000 people are retarded.

  • @TheGPockov that 1 % out of a 100 , not bad

  • @TheGPockov That's about right. :)

  • @TheGPockov which means 1 in 100 :)

  • @TheGPockov Interestingly, that makes it 1% ;)

  • @TheGPockov Every video I watch, people call names "dislikers", why can´t they have they´re own opinion, please remember this: EVERYBODY CAN LISTEN WHAT HE WANTS! So why should we have a problem with dislikers?:-)

  • @Flethand Nice try, Justin Bieber fan! :)

  • Jason Newsted has my RESPECT

  • Fans of H.P. Lovecraft will understand that this piece fits perfectly. You can almost see in your minds eye the "old ones" rising through a portal, from the other dark world they were banished to.

  • I have only one word to say "WOW"

    actualy that where 8

    and now 12

    XD

  • jason newsted was really good

  • JASON NEWSTED, WE'VE MISSED YOUR SOLID BASS.

  • creepiest metal tune ever....

  • Awesome track by Metallica ! In his book ' The Call of Cthulhu ' H.P. Lovecraft mentions the book, ' The Golden Bough' which is a wide ranging study of mythology & magic in religion by Scottish anthropologist Sir James G. Frazer published 1890. It offered a modernist approach to discussing religion, treating it dispassionately as a cultural phenomenon rather than from a theological perspective.

  • 2:57 Evil Kirk xD

  • You know your math teacher is awesome when he plays this while you're working!

  • @MetalxMusicxChannel no, but my math teacher plays enter sandman, fuel and sad but true!

  • @MetalxMusicxChannel or he's gonna kill you, by the sound of the music :D

  • jason newstead sux ass in this cant even play it

  • @naizpride JASON NEWSTED IS THE MASTER , LIKE IT OR NOT, HE'LL BE PLAYING WITH METALLICA FOR THE UPCOMING 30TH ANNIVERSARY AND AHEAD, YOUR CLIFF IS VERY MUCH DEAD DEAL WOITH IT, YOU FAG, JASON RULES SINCE 1986 AND STILL

  • @naizpride Well all i can say is make a video of you playing it and post a video response.... I'M DEAD ASS SERIOUS!!!!! YOU WANNA COME ON HERE TALKING CASH SHIT THEN PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE FAT MOUTH IS!!!! IF YOU DON'T WISH TO POST A VIDEO RESPONSE THEN I RECOMMEND YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP AND JUST LISTEN TO SOME BAD ASS MUSIC LIKE THE REST OF US!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @naizpride I doubt you can play better.

  • Who else is gonna say that 'Tallica sucks?!

  • FUCK HTC !

  • West Memphis Three FREE AT LAST!!!!!

  • S&M could of had an entire album of All the instrumental only songs. That would of been bad ass!!

  • How do I find the song? I can't seem to find it record anywhere...

  • @Bloodfeeder13 The last song on the Ride the lightning album dude.

  • @towelie120592 Oh, lol... thanks. :) Missing the obvious. :)

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wagn'nagl fhtagn.

  • mustaine is god

  • I love Metallica in general !!!

  • I love Metalica's instrumentals. :3

  • That riff at 0:34 is so sick!! Gotta love those minor key riffs.

  • @drewper73 minor9 :)

  • @georgemnrs Cool. I might've been able to figure that out if I had tried to learn it. But, I guess once you know that chord then you'll be able to tell every time. So if it's an E minor 9 then the chord would be E-G-B-F#? Or some combination of those notes? Good ol' music theory. It'll ruin a Metallica song every time. lol... Just kidding. I say why not study Metallica? They're like a modern-day classical composer except there's 4 of them.

  • @drewper73 its Aminor9 not Eminor9 (i think) ;p

  • @georgemnrs It looks like I'm gonna have to play along with it on my keyboard to find out.

  • бля, охуенная весчь!!! прусь с 1992 года, когда впервые услышал...

  • *shivers*

  • @Cornhalio1776 Idon't care what the fuck u say anymore its just shit comeing from or mouth u don't even care what happens to these videos. Dumb fucks like r just piece's of shit. Ive already apoligized to the owner of this video about 99.9% don't apoligize for say this kind of shit so fuck off Corn. Sorry ever1 had to c that.

  • The end of this song just gets me pumped!!!

  • @viva9626 your right about me not spelling correctly but I made my point people who argue look like idoits on these channels. Now go to some political channel & argue all yall won't, but this is just stupid the way people argue over nothing or just a opionin.

  • Brillant upload

  • no i don't think im gay but im using my self as example of how idoits & retards act when the don't know what there doing I had every intitnal to say what I wanted to but this is how poeple look stupid the just argue against each other. Now as u noticed im typing like i would usally type to a normal person.

  • @tfrodo13 Actually, no you aren't. Normal people can spell "usally" correctly, and use proper grammar.

  • @tfrodo13 go suck a big dick and listen to justin beiber fag

  • This is just stupid every1 that talking shit. Why are u here? Because i know most of us are here to listen to something spectacular in my opionin. So poeple stop fucking around about being stupid & listen to the damn shit. I got on here 5 months ago there wasn't any of this shit talking, so just shut the fuckup & listen to it. What mother said " If u got nothing to say nice don't say it at all." Im just pointing out how stupid u are on here talking about this & not listing to it.

  • @tfrodo13 wow you are so gay, u think u are so cool because you say bad words, i bet you are like 13

  • @nogodsexist1 You must be the most ignorant bastard i've ever seen on a comment page. You tell everyone you can have your own opinion but when they argue with you, you tell them they are a dolt or retard, which in turns makes you to look like an asshole. Also if you didnt notice there are 88 times more people that like this video than dont. And finally all your LMAO LOLs and any other abbrivaitions similar make you look like a twelve year old child with no life. Just my opinion though.

  • I'a! Dagon!

  • @delijdewolfe Yes, because Cliff Burton has given the love for Lovecraft to Metallica :) The Call of Ktulu, The Thing That Should not Be, all these song in tribute to the greatest writter i've ever read. Cliff said one day... " I have only one regret. To have change " C'thulu " into " Ktulu " then our fans won't be wrong in the pronounciation ". He was the one, it's 'cause of him we have these great songs from Metallica... We don't forget him !!

  • pure epicness

  • 43 people like justin bieber

  • @NeveretS The Thing That Should Not Be is the other Lovecraft inspired Metallica song.

  • Excellent song, Excellent execution !

  • "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" means: In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.

  • i think jason just destroyed the bass.bass sounded better than the original

  • @NeveretS For Whom The Bell Tolls is based on Ernest Hemingway's novel with the same title

  • what is the 1st top comment suppose to say?

  • @bbriiannz "In the city of R'lyeh Cthulhu sleeps"

  • EPIC!

  • what does ktulu mean?

  • @duffbeer360 "Cthulhu is a fictional character [...] created by writer H. P. Lovecraft in 1928." - More at wikipedia/Cthulhu

  • @lSolidSnakel Not sure what you mean...the guitars accompany a pops-style orchestra. I think Hammett's original position on the stage gives a clue as to how the entire performance was meant to be - Metallica as part of an orchestra, each complimenting the other musically.

The worst part was when I heard Michael Kamen died...I think S&M II would have been as good as this.

  • @aaronjg682 Here's a great idea: Metallica please make a new show with an orchestra in tribute to Michael Kamen!!!!! It can be with the San Francisco Symphony or any other else, but we want more shows like this!!!

  • Αυτά είναι !

  • AWESOME ^^

  • youtube.com/watch?v=MXFClqJ53cE <---original

  • I really love the S&M stuff that they did, but I have to say that they didn't do this song justice, it sounded epic in the beginning, but the guitar should've been way more audible from 1:34 and on.

  • if they make a Call of Cthulhu Movie, this should be in the Soundtrack.......Metallica and Michael Kamen ROCKS!! (oh and btw.....R.I.P. Michael.....)

  • metallica was my idles when i grew up. im into all kinds of music, everything like wutang, rkelly, gorillaz, outkast, nas, lupe fiasco, fuckin destinys child.

but metallica to me is best. they simply are epic in a way no other band can touch. you can feel the emotion, soul, and passion in their music. they aren't like metal bands that just scream and slam. they are deeply talented.

smoked my first blunt to 'for whom the bell tolls'

  • that is not dead

    which can eternal lie

    and with strange aeons,

    even death may die...

  • When i went to make this "Metallica" List, i didn't even realized that The Call Of Ktulu leads to Master of Puppets, until i heard one coming after the other. Amazing.

  • Metallica + San Fransisco Orchestra + H.P Lovecraft makes me have the biggest boner i've ever had.

  • @KahliaSargeras how much long?

  • love this blend of metal and classical. not sure h. p. lovecraft imagined this when he wrote the original story but this absolutely rocks and deserves to open an epic fantasy film.

  • One of the best instrumentals ever created, when I blast this at full volume it's like summoning Cthulhu himself, Cliff's Bass sounds so god damn amazing, such a talent.

The best LIVE version that I've ever heard was MELBOURNE 2010 - The ONLY time they played The Call of Ktulu ever in the 2+ years Death Magnetic World Tour, if you closed your eyes and listen it's like Cliff is there, playing bass again. RIP

  • @Parag0n You are so right about their performance in Melbourne. Not only was I shocked to learn they played that song at their last World Magnetic Tour, that performance truly gave me the chill because of Rob playing like Cliff Burton, which was notably absent when Metallica played with Jason Newsted and when Rob Trujillo first played these songs in 2004.

  • @Parag0n the best was yesterday in gelsenkirchen for sure, i just saw the video and it was stunning..... in the melbourne one james totally failed in the intro :P

  • @2shae1980 I haven't found high quality version of that one yet, only a couple of mobile phone recordings.

I still think the Melbourne one is better for two reasons, gelsenkirchen sounded alot faster than what it should be and also the fact that Metallica always sounds better in a small 15,000-20k people indoor arena rather than a MASSIVE stadium, I'm looking at the gelsenkirchen show and it is huge, I doubt the people at the nosebleeds would get a good sound compared to an indoor setting.

  • @Parag0n watch?v=vJMRgBZblKw this one is the best from gelsenkirchen, but yes what yo usay is true but i still like this one better for some reason :\
