This is going to be very unpopular comment, but I think Andy Serkis portrayed Vincent Van Gogh better than Benedict. Don’t get me wrong. I think Benedict is brilliant actor and he plays Van Gogh very well, but it’s nothing like Andy’s performance in the Simon Schama’s Power of Art documentary.
Benedict has made me fall in love with Rory Slippery. With Sherlock Holmes. With James the cancer victim. With Steven Hawking. With Peter Guillam. And now, with Vincent Van Gogh. Is there an end to the variation of roles that he can play so believably that we fall in love with them all?
there's something always so extraordinary about stories of van gogh's life, and i'm so glad to see benedict cumberbatch in this role. another thanks for the upload.
Benedict is so fantastic here. He really enunciates very well. His eyes are quite incredible here as well so sparkly and full of enthusiasm. So talented. Wish this was on DVD. Thank you for posting.
@romangirl88 really!? that will be amazing because tom stoppards re-wrote it and rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead was by him and i saw that at the haymarket with jamie parker in the lead role- it will be fantastic.
Thank you so so so so much for this! I'm from Germany so this is the only way I can watch this movie. And it's absolutely amazing and touching. I loved it!
by any chance do you where can i find a stream or copy of Danny Boyle's Frankenstein? i missed the US broadcasts and there's no word on a DVD release yet...
@sidgallup It's not certain, but there has been word that some workers in the National Theater shop said that it was in the works, and may be out in six months.
@07MayBouvier Apologies. I was reading the website and mistook the fact that they plan on streaming it live to theaters for the fact they're releasing it. Either way, you'll be able to see it in March.
See I don't know why such things as 'The Only Way is Essex' are created and watched when there are stunning dramas and stories like this worth the same amount of respect. Benedict Cumberbatch is an AMAZINGLY TALENTED ACTOR as demonstrated in this!!! Thank you for putting this on here - tears in eyes here ;) xx
I do not understand about the English, but benedict is my favorite actor, and here in Spain is not known, and it makes me angry because it's a great actor and makes you want to see the movie but do not understand everything, but I think it's going gogh perfect for this movie.
I love to see this movie, anyone can pass me the script please?
I can't even count how many times I have been watching this docudrama: different perspective, great performances and a beautiful original score. One of the best things about this video is that we get to hear Benedict to read a small part of Keats's Ode to Autumn. It's just too beautiful for words.
Why does Benedict have to be so darn cute! :D I cried while watching this, it was incredibly moving. It doesn't help my depression, but honestly I'm not that mad.
I really loved this when I first saw it! It IS deeply moving and he's done such a good job with the monologues.
I DO wish they'd release it on DVD or something, it deserves to be! (Not only because of Benedict's acting but also because Van Gogh was such an amazing, interesting person)
@kizudarake I absolutely agree! I love Van Gogh and this was such a perfect portrayal of him! I especially loved that they only used HIS OWN words! I do hope it'll be released on dvd at some point!
i was hoping there was a recording somewhere of benedict cumberbatch reading 'to autumn' by john keats...yay!

I'm beginning to see a pattern in Benedict's roles in movies. He always plays the genius, or narrates him.
