  • who is this catherine you speak of

  • @serbsof2k84ever If you really don't know who they are talking about, Catherine is the name of a video game. The game's composer used and remixed several classical music themes for the game's soundtrack, Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen being one of them (particularly the theme heard during the first 20 sec).

  • @Arrakeen77 if ur talking about the part starting at 4:47, its god of the cookery

  • @Beastmast3r5254 I'm actually talking about the part at 6:44 during the chase scene.

  • I like all kinds of music, but when i feel the need to really relax and get transported to another place, This is the type ( classical) music i will choose, without exception , every time. I makes me crazy to have to listen to people wax ecstatic over what comes of of some peoples sound systems, as being described as "Music". I know all about "Different folks , different strokes" but whats called music these is , unspeakable.

  • I remember when I was younger listening and loving this piece in car rides. I knew the name of this piece was long, and looked impossible to pronounce, and when I lost the tape, I never thought I would find it again. Thankfully, I typed it in, and was given the privelige to listen and come back to this god given beauty.

Thank you Mr. Pearlman! Such a sublime interpretation.....

  • A friend of mine said @6:44 is anime music. I slapped my keyboard in rage for 30 seconds.

  • I'm having a hard time deciding whether I prefer this version or Heifetz's

  • David Hovrat.

  • Dedicated to a special Lady...

  • Simply....perfect

  • 6:44

  • the reason why people say classical music is for nerds is because they don't know nothing about it.

  • @kittywong97 you're a faggot nobody says classical music is for nerds

  • @isfahan135 CHILL... ==" But to reply to what you said, yes, there are actually people who thinks that way (Maybe you haven't met any of them or they hid it well). I've met quite a few in my school (the old one and the one I go to now) -- the only places I meet people who actually gives their best are the people in the orchestra. I think you'd be surprised at what some of the people who didn't appreciate classical music says...

  • @kittywong97 anything*

  • Perfectly !

  • THERE ARE MANY GOOD MELODIES, BUT THE TOUCH TO SPIRIT IS VARIABLE. BUT THIS PIECE... , THIS PIECE PIERCES MY SOUL!

  • THERE ARE MANY GOOD MELODIES, BUT THE TOUCH TO SPIRIT IS VARIABLE. BUT THIS PIECE, PIERCES MY SOUL!

  • Love is over.

  • Grande Sarasate!

  • beautiful! i can almost smell the rosin flying off the violin~ man..its so..enchanting..hypnotic. different and beautiful. like an illusion! o.o♥

  • I'm feeling a strange sadness while listening this piece...

  • This is so beautiful...It's almost hard to believe! How this is not on everyone's favorite list is beyond me.

  • I'm living in a sad life

  • wtf!! its sooo hard to get the harmonics!

  • perfect, better than Heifetz ,i think.

  • God is kind. Kimp401

  • This is perfect. BRAVO! kIMP401

  • Love this piece! We're playing it in my orchestra now and my friend, she's 15 and plays the solo, plays it as good as him :D -3

    amazing

  • Just awesome.....

  • Just Wow

  • This is beautiful.

    Absolute perfection.

  • Whoever thinks Sarah Changs version is better is well, ludicrous! This IS the cleanest version. Can you not hear the pureness in each note? Its a miracle to even think someone like Perlman could play so well. He has huge hands, and cant walk, yet he is the next best violinst after Heifetz in my mind.

  • מדהים!

  • @JamiexLeex91 oh now i get it. thanks

  • @Krustaceae 26 people think he plays better than Sarah Chang

  • i love it

  • 25 people think Sarah Chang is better.

  • @krustaceae shut up i hate people who post comments like this trying to get upvotes

  • @krustaceae Wtf? You wrote the same thing on Sarah Chang's but a total opposite. Retarded, go away!

  • I love the part from 5:00 to 6:45

  • I usually prefer other violinists' renditions of pieces to Itzhak's (although he is still one of the best out there), but his Zigeunerweisen is my favorite interpretation of the piece. Closest to how I want to play it. :)

  • cuando termine de escucharlo sencillamente me pare aplaudiendo y grite bravo..

  • Grande video!

    Musica da favola!

    Esecuzione eccellente!

    Grazie :)

  • For 7 years I've had this song in my head, not remembering the title nor the author. I finally found it. It makes my day, no, week, no, month, no, year !!!

  • Does not seem very easy to play it.....but I will try tomorrow anyway...hope the birds in the garden do not run away......I close the windows properly..

  • @eddyjacobsensongs hahahahahahahahaha I laughed very loud at this one

  • Itzy <3 + Sarasate <3 = <3<3

  • I love this but why wasn't there a cimbolom in the orchestra...I keep listening for it and it is soooooo absent.

  • OMG been looking for this piece but don know the title till now, thanks a lot ^_^

  • long live Perlman

  • one of the best pieces! I can't find one single note out of tune!!

  • Heifetz performance is miles better in my opinion, actually unparalleled to anything i ve ever heard.

  • @vassilischr did you actually listen to this one? :)

  • This music makes me believe there IS humanity and such things in this rotten world...

  • @53tine why do you believe the world is rotten? I'm sure Perlman wouldn't agree with you....:)

  • THIS is perfection.

  • Genius performance with Gusto!

  • pixar :D

  • this is so beautiful that it makes you wonder how any human being could play it this way.

  • listening to this makes me want to start playing strings again

  • Rifa!

  • This is by far the version I like the most...

  • sublime interprétation :)

  • It's soooooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if people knew this they would nt all say classical music is for losers...

  • @omoshiroidayo has anyone ever said that? :)

  • Practice makes perfect, yet nothing is perfect. This is far by the closest to perfect, as his interpretation of Zigeunerweisen is amazing. Incredible.

  • Mr.Perlman playing Sarasate...unique, perfect !

  • its not even close to heifetz

  • @katecsalad9

Every performer has a different style in which they perform. If you like Heifetz' version more, then keep it to yourself. People like different interpretations and styles. It's debatable but I think Heifetz is more technically correct of how this is supposed to sound compared of Perlman's version. But that's just my opinion.

  • @MultiMelon12 ....Supposed to sound ? All music is written to be played by individuals. Any composer would tell you that. One hundred good musicians ? One hundred good versions...each of them correct. Changes in bowing to suit the individual, alternate fingerings producing the same note , but on a different string....

  • @katecsalad9

Heifetz' recording had an edge to it because he recorded with the microphone close to his violin which gave it a little scratchy sound. Not audible in concert halls.

  • Beautiful.

  • We all have different opinions. My friends like rap, pop, rock, r&b.

I think all of that is good, catchy too, and i respect everyone's opinion.

    But this music.. It's a completely different thing to me ;

this is the music that touches my soul.

  • @missElle121 That's the spirit! I like rock too, but I don't cry for it.

  • @missElle121 I couldn't agree with you more

  • @mario91551 yeah me too =)

  • @missElle121 Truly said, this is music which will last for eternity.

  • I like the part of the song in 6:45 all the way to the end.

  • *Ginban kaleidoscope -.-♥

  • gosh when perlman plays my heart just melts.

  • 24 people without any notion of what is beauty wasted their time watching this.Never could understand...

  • how in any way is bieber's "music" got more attention.....you need proper skills to do this!

  • @MegaJHo23 i don't see the point in comparing justin bieber with perlman... they're two completely different genres.

  • tremendo esto

  • tremendo esto

  • My Girlfriend plays this masterpiece of music almost in perfection =)

  • violin <3

  • i like it! (L)(L)

  • PABLO DE SARASATE was a genious composing spanish music and in this case hungarian music which is playes masterfully by the # 1 violinist of our times.

  • @tylkopolak

    go hang yourself.

like you're any better than perlman.

like you're any better than a 2 YEAR OLD!

  • Justin Bieber-0

    Itzhak Perlman-1

    More to come.

  • @russellkim98

    Bieber: negative100

    Sarasate: +100

    Perlman: +100

  • @TheDeltaboss why do i see the word "bieber" in a perlman video? it's like seeing the word "pyjamas" in an article on calculus or sth.

  • Mr Perlman is a unlucky guy playing unlucky tunes from lucky composers (they are dead) !

  • I am sorry for being horrible, but I sorta think his tone reminds me of a singing meatloaf wrapped in plastic wrap so that it doesn't be moldy in the refrigerator. I hate any strings other that pure gut or gut core. I avoid many potential friends because they use Dominants or Evahs.

  • @AllTriadHexachord what the fuck are you talking about? lol

  • @Hartfreek thats exactly what i wanted to ask

  • definitely one of my top 10...had forgotten about it but heart it today in my car so I am listening to it ever after whole night !

  • Genius

  • This genre is originally from Budapest, played in restaurants, called 'kávéház', the audience is the typical middle-class of the era, ethnic Hungarians, Germans, Jews. Other than musicians, Hungarian Gypsies were never listening to this music. They have their very original folk music, totally different from this.

  • Hungarian Gypsy, because this new urban genre was played by Gypsy bands in restaurants, almost exclusively by Hungarian speaking ethnic Gypsies. restaurants.

Later, these bands were playing in other countries, too. But only by Hungarian Gypsies, other non Hungarian speaking Gypsies bands around Hungary and the Balkan never played this kind of music.

  • @Sallelaschi

Zigeunerweisen means gipsy airs. These were composed by Sarasate, the best violin performer of his time, since Paganini was dead. Spanish musician to whom credit should be given, no t to the gypsies of supposedly Hungarian restaurants you mention.

  • @abib2054 Yes you are right, Zigeunerweisen means gipsy airs. Since music and dance always come together, so what kind of Spanish dance can you perform on this piece from 6:45, flamenco, eh?

If you can't find the answer, listen to the famous piece of the great Italian composer, Vittorio Monti...

  • SteauaBucuresti

    @Sallelaschi

Sarasate is Spanish, and not Hungarian.

Yes, Sarasate is Spanish, but this piece is Hungarian. He heard then 'composed' this music in Venna where Hungarian Gypsy music was extremely popular that time, around 1900.

Hungarian, because the music is an urban version of Hungarian musical heritage (Hungarian folk songs, hungarian dance music, tipically csárdás.)

  • @Sallelaschi I would say that Sarasate weren´t a Spaniard, but a "Spaniard": he was from the basque-spanish region of Navarre. And he was very used to compose on folk-lore musics that weren´t of his own land: jotas, malagueñas, habaneras... or this piece, perharps his masterpiece: a truly Hungarian Gypsy music

  • So, all these years of my life, I've been fooled by the phrase "Nothing is perfect"?

  • @alfredangsty yes you were fooled!

  • everything is perfect in the studio
