There are violinists rather than another kind of player but none like Perlman. Mind you, He studied in the best conservatoires of the world. In a way I consider him one of the best.
@serbsof2k84ever If you really don't know who they are talking about, Catherine is the name of a video game. The game's composer used and remixed several classical music themes for the game's soundtrack, Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen being one of them (particularly the theme heard during the first 20 sec).

I like all kinds of music, but when i feel the need to really relax and get transported to another place, This is the type ( classical) music i will choose, without exception , every time. I makes me crazy to have to listen to people wax ecstatic over what comes of of some peoples sound systems, as being described as "Music". I know all about "Different folks , different strokes" but whats called music these is , unspeakable.
I remember when I was younger listening and loving this piece in car rides. I knew the name of this piece was long, and looked impossible to pronounce, and when I lost the tape, I never thought I would find it again. Thankfully, I typed it in, and was given the privelige to listen and come back to this god given beauty.
Thank you Mr. Pearlman! Such a sublime interpretation.....
@isfahan135 CHILL... ==" But to reply to what you said, yes, there are actually people who thinks that way (Maybe you haven't met any of them or they hid it well). I've met quite a few in my school (the old one and the one I go to now) -- the only places I meet people who actually gives their best are the people in the orchestra. I think you'd be surprised at what some of the people who didn't appreciate classical music says...
Whoever thinks Sarah Changs version is better is well, ludicrous! This IS the cleanest version. Can you not hear the pureness in each note? Its a miracle to even think someone like Perlman could play so well. He has huge hands, and cant walk, yet he is the next best violinst after Heifetz in my mind.
I usually prefer other violinists' renditions of pieces to Itzhak's (although he is still one of the best out there), but his Zigeunerweisen is my favorite interpretation of the piece. Closest to how I want to play it. :)
For 7 years I've had this song in my head, not remembering the title nor the author. I finally found it. It makes my day, no, week, no, month, no, year !!!
Does not seem very easy to play it.....but I will try tomorrow anyway...hope the birds in the garden do not run away......I close the windows properly..
Practice makes perfect, yet nothing is perfect. This is far by the closest to perfect, as his interpretation of Zigeunerweisen is amazing. Incredible.

@MultiMelon12 ....Supposed to sound ? All music is written to be played by individuals. Any composer would tell you that. One hundred good musicians ? One hundred good versions...each of them correct. Changes in bowing to suit the individual, alternate fingerings producing the same note , but on a different string....
Heifetz' recording had an edge to it because he recorded with the microphone close to his violin which gave it a little scratchy sound. Not audible in concert halls.
