Thankyou for this documentary. He is clearly a master of raks-sharqi and I appreciate the story you told along with the exposition. I have just discovered him, and have not before seen such sublime use of the classic techniques by a male dancer.

Some would argue that this is very feminine way to dance and that men shouldn't belly dance ,but I think men should dance... Notice he dances this perdominatly feminine dance but in a masculine way... I don't think I woman would move quite the same as he does. Again he does feminine moves but as a man would do them.... very interesting to watch... entertaining as well and you can tell it makes him happy to do it.

I have never seen anyone squat and do a hip circle before. He makes everything look so effortless and perfect, especially the shimmies. He is wonderful. I wish I could have him as a teacher!!!!!!

To me bellydancing is such a sensual dance, that it is so strange to see a man move that way. Ignorant Americans, i know... but I guess im just not used to seeing men move their hips in that way, just seems inherently wrong to me.

Oriental Dane/Belly dane is also social damce and in Egypt both men and women dance the same way. Just can't see many male professional dancers. However, if you go to Egypt, you can see evrybody dance the same way. Oriental dance is NOT only for women, but men too.
