  • It's SErgei Prokofiev "Dance of the Knights"

  • Dammit! What is the name of this piece of classical music?

  • I challenge anyone to watch this ENTIRE film while smoking a bowl! I did it last year, lol Scariest night if my life!

  • @booteeny24 This movie lasts for like 3 hours, your bowl has to be the size of your head ;D

    Hard challenge bro

  • @allooo Hehehe. That's why I do the brownie thing LMAO! I'm a chick btw hehehe.

  • I've watched an old copy of thus movie and I guess when they re-released it they re-dubbed, because his name is Gaius Caligula, not Caius Caligula

  • this is fucking orgasmic

  • I love this melody :D and the movie was great too!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't believe all of the established talent who acted in this film. The sight of Peter O'Toole, very obviously drunk, ascending a winding staircase as men are masturbating all around him, was too much. I remember that scene well because even HE couldn't help but laugh through the scene. Malcolm McDowell was crazy good as Caligula. Only other film from around this time that I'd seen Helen Mirren in was "Excalibur." Good movie, saw in early teens as it was among all the other vids at store

  • It may have been cooler for the intro, if they recited Caligula's words in Latin and had English as subtitles. That would have made it sound like an actual recording from the past... Ooooo...

  • yeah it would be spooky and scary that way, like his Ghost has returned.

  • That's a great opening.

  • Prokofiev's unsettling and sinister "Dance of the Knights" from Romeo & Juliet is a lot more appropriate for this film than Khatchaturian's "Spartacus"

  • @filmfan09 For the time in which it was filmed its a curio piece, its meant to be extreme and make the viewer uncomfortable. I'd say its pretty realistic as far as displaying Caligula's insanity. True history was brutal and visceral, far from a PBS special.

  • sick

  • COMO SE LLAMA ESA CANSION

WHAT ´s THIS theme sorry i don´t speak english

  • It's Montagues and Capulets also called Dance of the Knights by Sergei Prokofiev.

    Peace.

  • Amazing opening...I love it.

  • They should remake it, only be less sex and promotion (this was Penthouse promoting there girls) and actully be a more true bio-pic to the crazed ruler named Caligula.

  • I'm all for remakes as long as the original is a terrible film being remade into a great one... and not the other way around.

  • Hello! Could someone help me by telling me where I could I watch the scene with Drusilla and Caligula that just follows the opening credits? tchau!

    Luís.

  • bloody awesome movie!

  • Great Music!!!!!

  • What Powerful song!!!!!!

  • THE HORROR OF CALIGULA

  • Not a bad movie, but it turns too much into a porno than a real film.Penthouse still to this day calls it the most controversial movie ever made. I disagree mainly because its just a long porn flick with a plot. I consider films like passion of the christ and a clockwork orange to be far more controversial.

  • what is the song name?

  • The theme song is the only good thing about the movie!

  • Copy - paste?

  • Whats this song called i like it.

  • this music ignites a bright fire within my soul, and i get a sudden urge to destroy humankind, and to rape and sacrifice a goat to caligula, the greatest emperor of antiquity.

  • Die Titelmelodie von Prokowiev ist ein Magnet, auch wenn Caligula ein, leider zu einer allzu gewollten soft Porno Verfilmung geratener Historienschinken, sein mag.

  • Caligula was perhaps one of the most depraved people in history. The scene where he raped the bride is based on a historical account where he also raped the groom. He also had sex with half the gladiators in Rome. This movie is nothing compared to the book 'Caligula, Divine Carnage: Atrocities of the roman emperors.'

  • Ugh... "Divine Carnage" is pure... Well, "Garbage." And these "historical accounts" are nothing but rumours and outright lies. We know NOTHING about Caligula, most of what we do is just "tabloid tales."

  • I remember Vanessa Mae (a goddess of an Asian violinist) also did her own version of this theme and called it "Art of War"

  • Great!!!

  • Thanks man.

  • Bingo

  • Sorry, music.

  • Everyone know what the name of the song in credits.

  • can you upload the scene where caligula finds seashells??

  • can you please upload more scenes from this movie????

  • can you upload the next scene after the opening credits????

  • one of the greatest films made in 50 years

  • Hahaha!

  • Great movie

  • Did Caligula sip Catomite Cream from the Warren Cup, or a similer type of Vessel? Google "The Warren Cup" The Pestle with the Vessel has the Chalace from the Palace...the flagen with the Dragon...oh, forget it!

  • Great movie i have the soundtrack to this movie on vinyl with the disco song We are one, hard to get these days...

  • Me Too! I have a mint copy I found at a flea market in Jersey back in 1988. I been meaning to transfer it to CD for years. The disco song, "We Are One' is hilarious as it alludes to a sister being in love with her brother, as was Caligula.

  • damn i love this movie.i'm a big nut when it comes to stuff about the romans anyway but this movie was fantastic.

  • saw the movie last night what a great show.

Music for these credits is great too.

  • dance of the knights

  • "Montagues and Capulets" by Sergei Prokofiev

  • Interesting choice for the theme music. I wonder why this was chosen for the soundtrack.

  • the british always play the best romans.........

  • There is just something about their accents. Makes them seem upper class.

  • is there any way to find this movie in its entirety un-cut?

  • Malcolm McDowell is one of a very rare breed of actor whose presence and voice trancend their role. Lawrence Olivier and Richard Burton can be counted in too.

  • La B.S.O. no es original; pertenece a la obra "Romeo and Juliet" de Prokofiev

  • believe it or not elp do a nice version of it on their blackmoon cd

  • Thanks Shigawire.I didn't know the song.All I knew it was Prokofiev.

  • cheers Shigawire!

  • does anyone know what the name of the song here is?

    cheers

  • Prokofiev - Romeo and Juliet - Dance of the Knights

  • BETA? What? LMAO!!!

  • Si, opino lo mismo,

    -Buena banda sonora.

    -Excelentes actores

***Lo unico que la caga es la pornografia, por eso es que hasta ahora no he tenido la oportunidad de verla.

  • This movie is so underrated.Cast is perfect, especially McDowell.Everything has to be so "clean" and hollywood standard?

  • I agree, it's underrated to some degree. The cast is great. The set's were nice. But the horrible editing sure fucked this movie up. The movie could have been greater.

    I still give it a 7/10.

  • " the Capulets & the Montagues" is tha name of this music.

  • thanks!

  • Malcolm is a great actor, the music is near perfection, but the porn-shit makes this movie one of the worst movies ever.

  • Check my Review of th film

    readerreviews.ign XXX com/rrview/ign/caligula_20th_anniversary_edition_unrated/441 80/64180/

Remove the XXX and put a . before goin in

  • The REAL Uncut Version is the 156 minutes that was released as "The 20th Anniversary Edition (Unrated)" I Happen to own it, is a decently enjoyable film, but not that shocking. READ MY IGN Review

    (add a .)

    readerreviews.ign com/rrview/ign/caligula_20th_anniversary_edition_unrated/44180/64180/

  • I love it too.Well..hell,put the whole movie,please?

  • Great Caligula!! Do you know Malcolm Mcdowell had psicologicall problems after watching the film?? The end of the film is fantastic, really violent and sad scene...

  • Umm... The Vestron video version is the standard 156 minute version time compressed to 148 minutes. The 162 minute version was just a pre-release print that was never released. It was probably re-cut into Franco Rossellini's "Io, Caligola" version in 1984.

  • Sergei Prokofiev is a good composer

  • I love this film, I hear its now banned?!!, any chance of more clips please?

  • Sure....will post some more.

  • When? It would be great.

  • Can you post the first time caligula danced. That's my favorite part. When Tiberius shouted "DANCE!".

  • I want to see this movie!
