This is different from the original version of the song played in the actual game. When it goes into alert mode there's a difference in the string sounds. In the original one they sound much more digital so this is probably just a redone version. Also, at 2:31 that drum rhythm happens about a beat earlier in the original version and that airy flute thing when it goes back to evasion mode at 3:39 sounds much different from the sound used in the original...

Epic song. This is the kind of music that should win Emmys. I alway's loved the music in MGS. I believe that music should be one of the center points of a video game, as when done right, it really adds to the atmospher and overall emotional feeling of the game. Great post!

Every piece of music in the game is perfect, all of the music triggers the good adrenaline rush. The hallway standoff in the tanker incident, right after you unlock the USP, is one of the best scenes I have ever played in a game. The music fit the action and the action fit the music.

Don't get me wrong the Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Halo music are iconic. There all brilliant in their own ways. But I feel Metal Gear Solid just edges it. I think the guy who is in charge of the music for MGS actually does film scores as well
