Do you know if you can actually have the casting resin come into contact with any of the fiberglass, or can the resin only come into contact with nothing but silicone in order to make a safe pull?
awesome videos, it seems to be a very long process but the results are great and the molds are reusable, i can already imagine how great this is to make different paintings for a clone trooper
I use resin for cast little sculptures but... never use it for props... How many layers of this "plastic" i must use?... ThankU and ThumbUp for your video.
Hi i want to ask, how the plastic cast characteristic, is it real plastic or just like resin? And how about the strength, is it strong enough when it dropped or break easily?
@pastlearner The plastic is real plastic as far as I know. It's pretty strong. I've never dropped one but if you do enough layers of plastic, then it should withstand quite a bit.
@Alecalisk The gallon kit of Rebound-25 was like $200 and the Thi-vex and Mold release were about $20 apiece. So all together it was around $240 not counting the fiberglass, resin, brushes, etc.
@sonicfreak04 Well, first you would have to make the helmet out of something. Then you would use the same process I showed in these videos. If you're talking about the iron helmet with the horns, then you might need to mold the horns separately and then attach them to the finished cast.
Great job with the molding and casting tutorials! I am looking into sculpting/reproducing sentai/Power Ranger helmets, and I found this extremely helpful. Thanks so much!
@xxLAMPSHADEx If you really want to make the NCR I say go for it. Even if it take a few tries it'll be worth it to see the finished product. Also, you don't have to make it perfect the first time.
@weardcute I'm not selling these because I realized after I molded the helmet that the casts as well as the original are too small because of the cheeks. I want to sculpt a Mando helmet out of clay sometime. If I do, I might mold, cast, and sell the casts.
@lockedandloaded59 Hate to break it to you, but he would have paid way more for the ink just to print it out. You can do it on your own at home and save money on shipping.
did you know that george lucas is trying to make it illigal to make anything starwars related without permition. or atleast thats what it says in the news paper.

Can you use a brush to apply the plastic, or will it just stick to the brush?
nicob616 6 months ago
@nicob616 Yeah, the plastic will just stick to the brush. This plastic can only be applied with the roto-casting method shown in this tutorial.
xXBocephusXx 6 months ago
@xXBocephusXx Okay, because i was just about to do this, and was wondering if there were any different methods, thanks
