@WoWoaWoah Axe paste is really pretty nasty. You might as well use a really cheap gel cause you'll get the same results: hard, greasy, and crunchy. A wax or strong clay is what you need. Small amount of hairspray after if you really need the extra hold.

@zmathews27 why not try faux hawk.. tell your hair stylist to thin your hair a bit with the faux hawk cut and then use joico spiker to style it and then you can try blow drying after you apply the joico spiker if it won't stick up .. but imo joico spiker is a must for thick hair

Just try add much texture as possible, it will cover the sharp edge and short bangs i think.

dude, my hair is really stubborn, and i find it difficult to keep all parts of my hair spiked up ( my hair is about 3-3.5 inches long). do you have any tips or suggestions as to what to use?

i think the perfect resould will be in hair that is washed twice to be sure its fre from any oils. and then dry it with a dryer, and then straighten it, and ad the product. hope it helps. and also remember to use hairspray.
